Deep Dark State: A Annabelle Perkins Thriller: Book 2 (Annabelle Perkins Saga) Page 15

He opened the door. “Come in,” Jack said with a wide, happy smile. Anna flashed him a warm smile and walked inside.

“What a gentleman,” Anna replied as she walked inside Jack’s home. She followed him to the kitchen where he’d just grabbed a couple of clean drinking glasses.

He opened the bottle of bourbon and started pouring into the two glasses. “Did you enjoy having the soon-to-be president of the United States under your thumb?”

Anna laughed while she shrugged off her jacket and hung it on a kitchen chair. “The power has gone to my head, and I love it.” Jack matched her laugh as he finished pouring their drinks.

He handed her a glass. Jack raised his own glass. “To Vigilance. Unseen by all ...”

Anna raised her glass. “But felt by many.” They clinked glasses. Jack tipped his glass back and savored the contents as it burned its way down his throat. Anna tipped her glass back and took only half the sip that Jack did but still gritted her teeth. She gave off an innocent looking smile. “I assume drinking takes practice?”

Jack laughed. “You can say that.”

Anna took her drink with her into Jack’s living room and took a seat on his big, dark-leather couch. He took a seat next to her. She leaned against Jack’s chest with her head resting on his broad shoulders. They lay like that in silence for a good long while, savoring every second of it. Anna was the first to break the silence when she moaned. “I wish we could stay like this forever?”

  “That would be nice.”

Anna turned to face him. “Will we ever get the chance to just enjoy ourselves like a normal couple, without constantly looking over our backs.”

Jack tipped his glass back and consumed the last of its contents before looking down at Anna to reply, “Maybe one day. For now, though, I say we should just enjoy the moment.”

Anna grinned, catching Jack’s hint. She placed the empty glass on the coffee table and changed position, so she was sitting on her knees. She wrapped her arms around Jack’s neck and brought him in for a deep passionate kiss. He wrapped his arms around her hips and brought her closer. They lost themselves in the moment, until separating when they both needed air.

With a look of desire on her face, Anna reached in and started unbuttoning Jack’s white shirt. Once fully unbuttoned she pulled it open to reveal his well-maintained chest. She gripped his shoulders and forced him flat on the couch. Bending down, she kissed the bottom of his neck and kissed her way down his chest. Jack gave off a grunt and flipped them over to be on top of her.

She smiled seductively at him while she slowly unbuttoned her own white shirt. Slowly she pulled the shirt apart, revealing the black bra underneath. Jack bent down and kissed her neck followed by her breasts. They then locked lips for another deep kiss as they planned to spend the rest of the night enjoying themselves.
