‘Enough!’ Bishop raised his voice. ‘What do you think would happen if all this came into public knowledge. There could be hundreds of thousands of people infected with this so-called nanochip.’
‘When I killed Parker, the infected would have been rendered harmless.’
‘Are you sure about that? What happens if someone discovers how to gain access to this tech?’
Sam stared at the report she had brought in.
‘People need someone to blame Sam.’
‘These people are innocent.’ Sam protested.
Bishop shook his head. ‘These people are hackers which makes them subject to the law. They are criminals who will get the justice they deserve.’
Sam glared at Bishop.
‘Don’t look at me like that. I have had a hard time keeping you out of harm’s way.’
‘What does that mean?’
‘It means the trail of destruction you left in your wake. A man dead outside your flat. We have Teller on CCTV purposely knocking him down. You were sat in the passenger seat of his car.’
‘That man would have killed us. He was infected with the nanochip.’
‘Then there are the men you shot at the farm.’
‘They would have killed everybody on that farm. I had to do something.’
‘Does that something include shooting someone at point blank range in the head? One of those men was executed.’
Sam remembered the man who had threatened her.
‘Secondly, there is the incident at the service station where a number of men including a motorway traffic officer were gunned down.’
‘I did not shoot that motorway bobby.’ Sam argued.
‘I know that.’ Bishop shot back. ‘Sam, I am already up to my neck in shit here.’
‘The men who attacked the farm in the Lake District knew where we were.’
‘I hope you are not suggesting a leak Detective Drake.’
‘I just got off the phone to a coroner who telephoned me to confirm the identities of three bodies washed up on the banks of the Thames last night. They were suspects we arrested on Tuesday morning in connection with Dystopia. The question that needs to be asked is how their names got into the hands of whoever tried to wipe out Teller’s team at that farm. When I was at the farm one of Teller’s team said that they were missing three people. Therefore, A list of those we arrested on Tuesday must have been leaked.’
Bishop stared out of the window. ‘That will be all Detective Drake.’
‘Sir, you cannot submit this fake report.’ Sam stated.
‘I said that will be all.’
Sam glared at Bishop for a moment before turning away.
Epilogue
Downing Street – London – 10:30am
Monday 22nd October – 2018
‘Gentlemen, I was not aware that you were on my agenda today.’ Mayflower greeted.
Lord William Chambers and Lord Charles Thornton sat down in front of the Prime Minister.
‘We were not Prime Minister.’ Chambers apologised. ‘But we needed to speak with you immediately about recent events.’
‘Well thankfully Dystopia has been stopped in their tracks. Life is returning back to normal. The curfew has been lifted. We will remember those who died last Monday and hopefully learn lessons for the future.’
‘Actually Prime Minister we wanted to talk to you about the death of Robert Parsons.’ Thornton said.
Mayflower looked at both men. ‘That information has yet to be made public knowledge. Can I ask how you found out?’
‘Robert came to us just after you asked him to look into the background of Albert Spearman.’
Agitation started to plague the Prime Minister. ‘I see.’
‘Before you scald Mr Parsons for what you might call a betrayal Prime Minister. We are here to assure you that we are on your side. Robert was part of a group which we are senior members.’ Chambers revealed.
‘I see, and what group is that exactly?’
‘At this time Prime Minister we cannot reveal too much information. The man on whom you seek information is someone of interest to us. He and others like him pose a very credible threat to Europe.’
Mayflower smiled. ‘I’m afraid gentlemen I don’t have time to chat about such matters. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a country to run.’
Chambers placed a file in front of Mayflower. ‘Prime Minister, I understand both your frustration and confusion. This will clear matters up for you.’
Mayflower opened up the file and took out a black and white photograph.
‘Is that Albert Spearman, the man you encountered the other evening?’
Mayflower stared intensely at the picture. ‘It is.’ She looked at Chambers. ‘Where did you get this photograph from?’
‘It was taken during the war Prime Minister.’
Mayflower looked up from the photograph. ‘As in the second world war?’
‘Yes Prime Minister.’
‘I’m sorry gentlemen but I cannot entertain this theory of yours.’
‘I’m afraid Prime Minister that you’ve no choice.’ Thornton said. ‘You see, at this very moment we are the only people you should trust.’
‘What is that supposed to mean.’
‘It means that your enemies are all around you. Ready to destroy you so that this man can reimagine a nightmare that Hitler started.’
Mayflower looked back at the photograph. ‘This is impossible.’
Chambers smiled glancing at Thornton. ‘Believe me when I say this Prime Minister. We have witnessed the impossible.’

Thanks for reading Dystopia. I very much hope that you enjoyed the story I have told. For more books I have written please check out my Amazon page.
If you have a few minutes please write a review on Amazon.
I have included some research notes for your viewing, please feel free to read on.
I have included a list of links which I found while researching Dystopia. I hope you find them as interesting as I did.
My first link refers to my opening statement about the number of people reliant on antidepressants. That’s one prescription for every man woman and child in the UK
The next article refers to an experiment where a brain-to-brain interface was made possible. Science fiction authors have been
I found this story while searching the BBC News website. It is now possible to become infected with a computer virus.
Cyber warfare is a term that is being used more and more these days. The west seems to be losing the war.
If you are into football then this next article is for you. It’s a rundown of how much the football industry is worth.
I found this article fascinating. Software that can take a person’s face and turn it into a video. I took this idea and used it in the book when Dystopia first hack the cobra briefing and create a video image of Margaret Thatcher.
Brain hacking may seem the stuff of science fiction. However, there are companies who are actively researching this possibility.
More and more defence companies are pumping money into all kinds of research projects. This next article is a little disturbing.
Are we living in a dystopian society? That is the question I ask at the beginning of this book. Many people believe that we are living in the Orwellian world that George Orwell predicted in 1949.
Finally an article about a microchip that can be implanted into the brain to give future humans super intelligent.
