“What good is a girlfriend if you can’t kiss her, at least?” I answered teasingly, before letting him give me a long and passionate kiss on my lips—my first ever.

“Well, I need to go now,” he said, sounding apologetic. “Will I see you before Monday?”

“My family has some plans for me for the weekend, so I doubt that’s possible. I’ll call you if anything changes.” I actually felt more like cuddling with him in my bed and having another session of sex, or two . . . or ten.

Gran came to my room as soon as he closed the door behind him. “You’re not a virgin any longer,” she stated as if it was expected.

“You don’t seem surprised,” I noted. “And you’re not angry at me either.”

She chuckled. “I hoped it would take a bit longer, but I’m not surprised and I can’t be angry at you for acting as your nature dictates.” Yet she looked at the bloodstains on the bed and frowned. “You didn’t use any protection, did you?”

  I shook my head.

“Lay down here and let me see what I can do to prevent unwelcome consequences.”

I had already put on some clothes, but that didn’t seem to bother her. As I lay on my back, she moved her hands in the air above my abdomen. She seemed to be talking to herself. “No ovulation yet . . . good . . . very nice amount of sperm . . . should move it out at once . . . now . . .”

She turned her attention back to me. “Stuff some tissue paper there. I’m going to extract the sperm.”

I had some questions to ask her, but she wasn’t paying attention. I just took some tissue paper, tucking it as close to my still wet vagina. I lay down again. Gran moved her hands in a different pattern now, mumbling something very softly, without looking at me. Soon enough I felt the tissue absorb some more liquids. Gran took it from me and gave me another, repeating her actions. The second set of tissue got barely a few drops on it. Gran still repeated it for the third time before seeming satisfied.

“What did you do?” I asked her.

“I just made as sure as possible that you won’t become pregnant yet. I’m sorry I had to take the sperm out for that.”

I didn’t feel like her words made it any clearer. Well, maybe I drank a bit too much . . .

“Take a warm bath and go to bed. We shall talk tomorrow morning,” Gran told me. It was her “no-nonsense” tone which made it clear that I would not get any answer until she decided to give one. I was already too tired to care, though. I took a bath, feeling the water cleansing me, removing the remains of my virginity and the pains of losing it. By the time I stepped out of the bathroom, clad in my regular pajamas, the rest of the family was already home.

  “How was it?” Mom asked.

“A lot of fun, just as I expected,” I told her, “but now I’m tired. Goodnight to you all.”

  “Goodnight, honey. Sweet dreams.”

Dad smiled at me and Gran blew me a kiss. My siblings were already tucked in bed and I followed their example.

I woke up with a headache. ‘This is probably the infamous hangover,’ I thought to myself, but knowing how it’s called didn’t help cure it. Gran was waiting for me in the kitchen. “Drink this,” she told me, giving me a small cup.

I almost choked at the bitter black drink. “What is this?”

“Mostly black coffee,” she answered nonchalantly, “with the addition of some magical herbs to get rid of that hangover much faster.”

“You mean medicinal herbs,” I tried to correct her.

She shook her head. “Magical herbs work better for magical people.”

I was in no state to argue. I forced myself to drink the bitter concoction and then washed the taste down with some orange juice, before eating the breakfast that was waiting for me on the table.

“Where’s everybody?” I asked after eating. My headache was quickly subsiding and I could finally put my mind to some use.

“I sent them shopping. We shall join them after our discussion.” She looked closely at me. “Do you need another cup of coffee?”

“No, thanks!” I was not going to touch that any time soon if I could help it.

She smiled. “Go wash and get ready for a morning of shopping. We shall talk after you are ready.”

A few minutes later I came back, holding my bra and my shirt in hand. “Gran, should I wear a bra for shopping?”

She lifted her eyes to me. “That depends. Do you plan on wearing it with the clothes you’re going to buy?”

I grimaced, making my answer clear.

“In that case, why wear it now? I only have one bra to wear when the blouse is too transparent and I don’t want to attract attention.” That meant never, as far as I knew. Gran thrived on attention, especially when given by men.

I still accepted her advice and threw the bra on my bed. When I turned back, Gran was removing her shirt.

“Look at my back, just between the shoulders, where your wings are during your dreams. Do you notice anything?”

I looked closely. Her skin was as tight and as smooth as mine, yet at that specific spot, I noticed a blemish, an unexpected sign. It looked like some scars I’ve seen on the backs of girls who were wearing low-quality bras, that hurt their backs, only these were way too high and weren’t exactly scars. There were two darker lines on her skin, going for about two inches on both sides of her spine from her shoulder line down. I traced them with my fingers. “What are these?”

Instead of answering, she walked us to the large mirror and gave me a hand mirror. With both our backs to the large mirror, I could see that I had similar markings, only somewhat fainter and a bit shorter. “What are these?” I asked again.

“Our wings,” she said, “or rather, the marks of our wings when we’re in our human form.”

I frowned. Had Gran gone over the hill? Mom always used to say that her mother had some rather odd ideas. Gran smiled at my confusion and pointed at my shirt, as she put on hers and sat on the sofa, patting the place near her for me.

“You see, honey, you are like me—we’re both fairies. I noticed it soon after you were born and you were confirming my suspicions ever since.”

“A fairy? That can’t be real!” I blurted.

“What is this, then?” she asked, grabbing a stick out of thin air. She waved it a bit and it emitted some sparks. A wand?

She didn’t wait for my answer. “Your wand is probably waiting for you to find it. Mine waited for more than a decade. Some fairies never find theirs, although it’s not of much use, really. I can do almost everything without it, as I did last night.”

“What did you do? You didn’t explain.”

“Wasn’t it obvious? I checked you to find if you’ve ovulated already. Luckily, you just finished your period two days ago and you’ve not reached ovulation yet. I then checked to find where the sperm was and how much of it, and I then forced it out of you, so you won’t get pregnant if any of it survives until you do ovulate.”

“But you didn’t even touch me!”

She smiled again. “Fairy magic doesn’t need touch. You’ll learn it all in due time, but the first thing you must learn, even before flying, is how to prevent pregnancy, or you’ll be a mother before reaching seventeen, just like I was.”

It all made sense in a weird way. If I could sprout wings, it was natural for me to dream about flying. If I had a strong urge, a need to copulate, it was natural to do it on the first occasion. And it was natural that I needed to know how to stay protected from unwanted pregnancy. Yet I had something else nagging to be asked. “How old were you when you became a mother?”

Gran smiled. “Not much older than you are. I had my first period about two weeks before my sixteenth birthday. I was at the peak of my fertility then, and I had no fairy relative to teach me. I had sex with four boys that day and more during the following days, missing no boy close to my age at that little town we were living in at the time. Three weeks later I knew I was pregnant, but only a month later I met my fairy mentor.

  “
My parents weren’t happy, to put it mildly, yet they opposed abortions on principle, and I didn’t want an abortion either. They bought an apartment for me, using a fake name, in another town, and made me move there before my pregnancy could be noticed. They did help me finish high school, taking care of my baby, but they cut all contact with me soon after I graduated. They are still alive, as are my siblings, but none wants any connection with ‘the wanton woman’—that’s me.”

  “But Mom isn’t a fairy—is she?”

“No. Luckily, she has no trace of magic in her body. She’s as normal as they come.”

  “And my siblings?”

She sighed. “Fairy magic is not strictly hereditary. It normally appears every other generation and usually only in one of the children, but it can skip several generations—as in my case—or occur a few generations in a row. Since scientists are unaware of fairies or of anything magical, nobody has ever done serious research to find what it really means. As far as I can tell, your sister is not going to be a fairy.”

  “What about my brother?”

She sighed again. “Luckily, there are very few male fairies. You’ll get to learn about it later. Now, we must concentrate on your contraceptive magic.”

Two hours later, I was able to move my hands over my abdomen, say some obscure words and make my womb impenetrable to sperm for a day. I also learned another bit of magic, one that removed all sperm from within my body, so that even when the contraceptive magic expired, no sperm would be there to go in and impregnate me.

In some ways, I didn’t really want to use these charms. Instinctively, I wanted all the sperm to stay within, although I didn’t want it to impregnate me. I asked Gran about it.

“That’s right. Your fairy magic thrives on sex. This is why you’ll want as much sex as you can get and this is why I wasn’t surprised to see you acting that way. Still, as magic isn’t physical, you don’t need it inside you for a short while, so your magic can take whatever it needs. The sperm, although biologically useful, has no magical significance. You can use both charms freely and still let your magic grow.”

She now looked pensive. “Please try to act in a way that would not make people refer to you as a slut, the boys’ mattress, or similar names. That may only bring problems. Had I known better, I could have spared myself and my family a lot of heartaches and give my daughter the grandparents that she deserved.”

It was plainly evident that Gran was still aching the separation from her parents and her siblings. I made a promise to myself not to act in any way that would not jeopardize my future. I hoped I would be able to keep it. Remembering the previous night, I wasn’t too confident about it.

“Well, we’ve talked enough. Let’s go shopping!” Gran didn’t let me think too much. She grabbed my hand, led me to her car and we joined the rest of the family at the mall.

  3 Family

Shopping was fun! Before meeting the rest of the family, Gran took me to a sex shop, where she bought me a few boxes of condoms with different flavors. She also bought me some adult toys, for times I would not have a proper male to satisfy my urges. “Just make sure to keep them hidden. I’ll later teach you how,” she told me.

Once we met my parents, we went shopping. I got three new dresses, all leaving my upper back free, a few new shirts, some with much lower neckline than I previously had (thanks to Gran’s interference), a miniskirt and two very short shorts, showcasing my newly formed bum to its best, short of being nude. I also found a bikini swimsuit that was conservative enough for Mom to approve of (and a much more daring one that Gran bought for me when Mom wasn’t looking).

Debbie called me on my mobile around noon. I moved into a dressing room to have some privacy while we talked.

“What happened to you last night? I thought you were shy with boys, that you’d stay a virgin until you got married. Now you seem to be the first to give it up among us. Was it the booze?”

“I’m not sure, really, but I was probably drunker than I thought. We all were. Yet Brian acted nice, I believe.”

She chuckled. “He was so terrified that your Gran caught you, that he would have proposed if you only asked him to.”

Maybe I should have? For a moment I wondered where that thought had come from. Was that my new fairy instincts? I mentally shook myself back to reality. “Well, it wouldn’t have been fair to him. It was all my initiative and I almost raped him, although he didn’t object at all.”

“No boy would have objected, and you were really hot, not at all the overgrown small girl I knew before.”

“I hardly knew myself either. I’m glad it was with Brian, though. I was so horny that there was a moment I even thought of grabbing Ethan. I don’t think you would have appreciated this. Neither would Brian.”

“You really like Brian, don’t you?”

“Would I have invited him if I didn’t?”

“What now, then? Some boys are only interested until they get what they want, you know.”

I wasn’t happy to hear that. I really liked Brian and he seemed to like me as well. Would he have offered to date me after he got what he wanted? I didn’t think so, although he might be interested in dating me just for some more sex. While less than what I’d like, that was alright with me, as I felt I needed a lot of sex for quite a while. If so, why not do it with someone I liked?

“He asked me to be his girlfriend before he left. We’ll see where that would lead.”

  “So, you’re dating?”

  “I think so.”

She stopped for a moment. “Sophie, you should know that I hadn’t planned to act the way I did yesterday either. I thought I’ll only let him feel me up in another week or two. Don’t let anybody know about it, will you?”

“Fine, and you too. We just played some games, listened to music, and had fun. Right?”

“Of course. We’re just very good kids, as expected,” she laughed, sounding less stressed than before.

“We need to talk to the other girls as well, although I think that none would like to tell anybody what really happened. It may become very embarrassing if anybody talks,” I said.

“Sure, and you should refrain from drinking even lightly, or you may end up in more embarrassing situations.”

“Can there be anything more embarrassing than your Gran catching you on your first shag?”

“I’m sure there is, although I can’t think of one right now.”

After shopping, we had a very nice lunch at the French restaurant, although my sister would have preferred pizza or a hamburger. Mom and Gran then took me to a film that was inappropriate for my siblings, who stayed with Dad. When the film was over, Dad bought me a new tablet and the latest cell phone. We then spent some time at the arcade, where they let me play for more than an hour (while only half an hour each for my siblings).

We dined out, but it was not as fancy as lunch, as we were all more than a bit tired.

Mom didn’t even have to persuade my siblings to go to bed. They also asked me to give them a goodnight kiss, hugging me and wishing me a “happy birthday”. It was really nice to feel loved. Sometimes they are such a nuisance that I forget how much we love each other.

Mom followed me to my room. “We need to talk some,” she told me.

  “What about?”

“Yesterday was not as benign as you wanted us to think, was it?”

I was sure Gran hadn’t told her anything. She would have stood for me even if I would have done something much worse, I knew. Yet I didn’t feel like lying to Mom.

“It wasn’t. We had a few stronger drinks. We didn’t get drunk, only a bit relaxed, you know.”

She didn’t look content, but not surprised either. As a former teenager, she probably expected as much.

“Then we played ‘truth or dare’ and then started dancing, and had some fun.”

  “And . . .?”

“You know I’ve been talking about Brian for some time. He was here at the party. We fell on my bed while dan
cing . . .”

“And you slept with him. Didn’t you?”

I blushed. “Yes. It was unplanned though. I would have told you if I thought that would happen.”

She sighed heavily. “Did you use protection?” She didn’t actually wait for my answer. “Of course you didn’t. It was unplanned. What shall we do now, I wonder . . .”

“Gran cleansed me, making sure I won’t get pregnant. I also told Brian that we must use condoms next time.”

Mom was less than happy to hear that. “Do you intend . . .”

“Mom, I’m more like Gran than I thought I am. Would you prefer me to sleep with any available boy?”

Mom looked defeated. “I think Brian would be alright if he has enough stamina. You’re a fairy, then, like my mother, aren’t you?”

  “Yes. You knew?”

She smiled joylessly. “She didn’t keep her nature secret from me, although she tried to entertain most of her suitors away from home. When I grew old enough to care for myself, she used to disappear for days, sometimes even for weeks. The dangers she faced during those times are beyond my understanding, but she barely made it back at times. That’s not the kind of life I wished for you, dear.”

“I may still choose differently. Brian offered to date me, and I intend to only be with him as long as we stay together. If he turns out to be what I think he can be, then he may stay my only lover for life. I may also choose differently in other aspects.”

Her smile had some hope in it. “Well, maybe you can live differently. All I really care about is for you to be happy and safe. Let me know whenever you need some advice or even some help, and keep Gran informed as well. She may be able to help you when I can’t.”

I hugged Mom and she hugged me back.

A new thought came nagging. “Does Dad know about Gran?”

Mom smiled. “Do you think I would keep that a secret from him? He knows, although he sometimes doubts what he hears. He still knows enough to understand what being a fairy means about the way he should treat your boyfriend.”
