Alien Bride: A Dark Alien Sci-Fi Romance Page 16

by Penelope Woods

I feel drained, but I’m finally satisfied. “I hope you find what you’re looking for. I know I have,” I say. “Goodbye, Ryan.”

I lower the phone, hit the off-button and cut off his cries for me to stay at my nightmare job.

“Who was that?” my mom asks.

“My boss,” I say. “I just quit.”

My mom dips her spoon back into the ice-cream and smirks. “Well, good for you. I always knew you could do better than that place.”

I pocket the phone and sit by her side. “I’m sorry, mom,” I say.

She squints, trying to get a good read on me, as if I’m trying to con her out of something. “What is this about? The water bill again?”

My blood pressure spikes. “Mom, for the hundredth time, I paid the damn water bill.”

  “Okay,” she says, eyes rolling.

This is going to be okay. We can mend our relationship. It’s just going to take some work.

“I miss you and dad,” I say.

It’s like a forcefield of energy hits us both straight in the chest. “You… what?” she asks, stunned.

My throat swells. “I miss us,” I say, tearing up. “Our family. What we used to have.”

She turns her head away from me, but I can see that she’s also on the verge of tears. “Don’t do this,” she says. “You know I don’t like talking about my Jack.”

Jack. My father. The man who made me who I am.

“You’ve kept a wall up for so long, mom, and so have I,” I say. “But we don’t need to keep hiding from what happened. I know you hate me for it. Maybe it wasn’t my decision to make.”

  “It wasn’t.”

Tears roll down my cheeks. “But what I do know is we all die sooner or later. And while we’re alive, I want to be your friend. Shit, mom. I want to be your daughter again.”

Normally, my mom doesn’t cry. She is tough as nails – the kind of woman who’d rather poke at your flaws than mend a wound.

But she’s crying. And once she gives in to her real emotions, she has her arms wrapped around my neck. Each tear falls against the tops of my wrists and forearms, and her chest soon convulses with a deep emotional release.

I hold on as tight as I can. I’m never letting go of this, no matter how hard it’s been.

“I loved him so much,” she says, pulling back to wipe her cheeks clean. “He was my Jacky-boy.”

When she talks about him, her eyes light up. Her smile looks wistful and young again.

“He was the best dad a girl could’ve ever had,” I say.

My mother nods and puffs her cheeks as she exhales. “You were like two peas in a pod,” she says. “Always hanging out. I just loved that.”

When she glances down, her shoulders hunch. Her smile starts to fade. She’s going back into the comfort of sadness again. It’s a looming skyscraper she built to keep everyone away.

If she could disappear, I think she’d do it. It’s up to me to keep her here.

“I’m sorry for telling him to get help,” I say.

“You...” She sniffs and laughs, but it’s strained and awkward. “I just don’t understand. How could he die like that?”

I bite the side of my cheek and try to stay strong for her. But all of my hurt comes barreling out of me. We’re just a mother-daughter mess, but this is the most we’ve talked in ages.

  This is a total break-through.

“The doctors told me it was time. They couldn’t revive him,” I cry. “I fought, and I fought, and I fought with that hospital for him. But we didn’t have the insurance to cover another transplant, and if he survived—”

She stops me. “He would have been brain dead,” she says.

  I nod. “Yeah.”

It’s almost impossible to go there. The image of my father like that haunted me then as much as it does now. The chances were slim to none, and I didn’t want him to die in pain.

  I had to say goodbye.

It takes her some time to admit this, but it finally escapes her lips. “I don’t blame you,” she says.

  “Then why—”

Again, she stops me. “I blame myself. I shut out the world because the one man I trusted left me. I had a daughter to raise. I didn’t know what to do, so I turned inward. I know I failed you. I know it, baby-girl.”

I stare into her eyes, trembling. “You didn’t fail me. You hear me? You did the best you could. Now we have to move forward. We have to be a family again. A different family, but a family nonetheless.”

She hugs me again. “I know, sweetie. I know.”

This wasn’t the happy ending I expected, but closure is everything. I have my mom back. She has me. Of course, I have my alpha aliens.

“So,” I mutter. “What are we watching?”

She shrugs and dips her spoon inside the bucket of ice-cream, but there’s no more left. “You pick,” she says.

I smile, feeling so fucking happy I get this chance. “Okay, I’ve got just the movie,” I say.

She sits up straight. “Before you choose, do you have any more ice-cream?”

I laugh and dry my eyes. “Me? Ice-cream? I’ve got about eight different flavors in that freezer.”

Well, Earth hasn’t changed a bit.

  That’s okay with me.

  Epilogue: Emma

My skin glistens with sweat. My entire body aches. I’m stuck in a tub, surrounded by nurses, and they’re all looking at me with indescribable expressions.

Resting in my arms is one baby alien.

Eyes wide, the doctor removes her surgical mask. “It’s a… girl?”

Rekker appears, standing over her. “This is our little secret,” he says.

Vraik and Lök appear, as well.

  “Got it?” Vraik asks.

Silent, the team nods in unison.

It took about six months for my mom to understand what happened. She met my alphas and nearly had a heart attack. But when they explained their love to her, she understood how much I meant to them.

She had always wanted to become a grandmother. In the end, she couldn’t object.

I gave everything I had to give for this baby. And when I thought about giving up, my alphas were there to push me. They taught me how to fight for the things that are real in this life. Family, purpose, a life of decency over submission. It is not a new idea. It’s just something I forgot was possible.

  “That’s our baby,” Lök whispers.

Their anger toward Slain has gone away. All of the pain they once felt about their home has turned into excitement over the new possibilities that lay in front of us.

Akron and the miners have destroyed the sentinels. They have built a new form of governance. The Resnyx has been destroyed.

All is well in the universe.

On Earth, no one could say what had happened. There was no one to blame, no explanation at all to tell humanity what they experienced.

Facing public pressure, NASA revealed a new program, the Earth Federation. They are going to expand their scope into the cosmos.

They will bring us back answers.

I don’t expect much to come of it. My alphas and our child might have to stay in hiding for the rest of their lives, but we’ll stay strong.

We’ll take our days one step at a time.

Tears run down my cheeks. I can’t stop looking at my beautiful baby. Her eyes are a mesmerizing mix of blue, gold, and purple.

My alphas massage my shoulders and back.

“I’m so proud of you,” Rekker whispers.

Lök chokes up. “We really made something special, didn’t we?”

  “We did,” I say.

Vraik comes around to my side and wipes his eyes dry. “You’re the strongest woman I know.”

My mom is astonished. “It’s a girl,” she says. “Oh my goodness.”

Our baby is covered in the most beautiful turquoise scales I have ever seen.

She is the most unique creature I have ever laid eyes on, and the love I feel is
so overwhelming I’m not sure how to cope.

The alphas carry me out of the tub, carefully cleaning the baby and I before carrying me to the bedroom.

I lay down to rest. “Her name is Paloma,” I say.

“Paloma,” Rekker repeats. “I like that.”

Night turns to day. Day turns to night. After about a week of lying in bed, I feel a little stir-crazy.

Once I feel ready enough to get back on my feet, I turn to my mom for a day of real rest.

Well, I’m not sure rest is the right word to use. More like intense loving with my alphas.

It’s difficult to be away from my baby, even for a second, but we haven’t had much time to dive back into what we had.

  They want to celebrate.

Blindfolding me, they lead me into their craft. Using the hyperdrive feature, they fly toward an undisclosed location.

“Where are you taking me?” I ask.

I can feel the mothercraft slow to a stop. Lök lowers and removes the blindfold from my eyes.

Outside the window is a purple nebula, a grand display of star-death.

A single tear runs from my eye. “It’s so beautiful,” I whisper.

  The alphas stand together.

Vraik grins. “It’s yours,” he says.

  “What?” I ask.

Slowly, they come toward me. They touch my body, delicately. “Yours,” Lök repeats.

“We found it for you,” Rekker adds. “It was undiscovered until now.”

“I don’t know what to say,” I murmur.

It’s the nicest gesture anyone has ever done for me.

Hands sliding down my back, they grip my ass. Vraik gives me a harsh spanking and rips off my skirt. “It doesn’t come without reciprocity,” he growls.

Their heat surrounds me. “What do you want?” I ask.

It’s hard not to smile when you’ve been waiting for this treatment for months. It’s been long since overdue.

“We want to feast on you,” Lök growls.

I arch my back and drop to my knees. “Then feast.”

Their tongues drape over my pussy, sliding into my hole. At first, I’m surprised by the strong sensation. I kick my feet, but Rekker catches my ankles.

“Oh, God,” I moan. “I’m so nervous.”

The truth is, I actually am. Motherhood changes you, and a part of me is afraid that they’ll dislike my body. That it won’t feel the same.

But the more they take, the more I am assured they love what I’ve become. And it feels even better than I remembered.

“I’m going to fuck your ass, slut” Rekker says, grinning.

  “Yes,” I howl. “Take me.”

I want to feel dirty again. I want to feel used. I want to go back in time and feel that first inklings of passion again. Our love is as strong as ever, but is it so wrong for a mom to ask to be degraded?

My kinks will never change. Neither will theirs. Accepted by Earth or not, the four of us fit together like an abstract puzzle.

Rekker’s hand trails up my skin, fitting around my neck. “Squeeze,” I moan.

  “Are you sure?” he asks.

  “Stop asking,” I cry.

He forces my neck down, plastering my face against the mothership’s floor. Leaning all of his weight into me, he mounts and smacks my ass.

“You want it like this?” he asks.

  “Harder,” I growl.

Another tough spank, enough to send chills through my lower half. My legs give way, but he props my up with his muscular thighs.

Rich beads of alien pre-cum trickle onto my hole. Using his crown, he spreads it in and pushes inward.

  I breathe.

His crown enters me. “Umph,” I grunt.

The two alphas stop feeding on me. It’s their turn to find pleasure. They come around to my front and lean forward, taunting.

“Such a good whore,” Lök growls.

“The sweetest pussy this universe has to offer,” Vraik says. “Why don’t all three of us take her ass?”

My thighs tremble, but I am locked in place. “Oh, fuck.”

An undeniable pressure gives way to pleasure as Rekker fills me.

“Baby, I’m all the way inside you,” Rekker moans.

Vraik enters second, and I’m breathless.

“Deep in your filthy ass,” Vraik mutters.

Rekker thrusts back, slow and gentle.

  “Keep fucking me,” I say.

Lök mounts and drives in deep. When he bucks forward, his alien lubricant covers my walls. The second thrust is easier.

  It feels like fucking heaven.

Leaning forward, Lök lets out his tongue and kisses me.

“Sweet, Emma,” Rekker whispers. “You know how much I love you, right?”

  “I do.”

  “Our queen,” Lök says.

These three are my princes. They give me hope.

“I’ll never forget what we went through,” I say. “Our love is as infinite as the universe.”
