One moment she’s standing, the next she’s about to crash to the floor, and Linc barely manages to scoop her up in his arms to prevent her from getting hurt.
“I want a fucking meeting. I demand one,” Linc roars.
Alaric gives him a tight nod, and so do I. All of us understand and know the very reason he’s demanding it. My woman might be safe, but even if we don’t know if Alejandro is still alive and out there or biding his time to come back for her, his ghost is already haunting Harper and taking over the reason for living for both Harper and Linc.
Peyton’s eyes meet mine, and I can see how torn she is. The hurt, the pain her sister is going through. So much for a quiet night with my woman and taking the day to spend with both my daughter and my old lady. Unfinished business needs to be handled, or none of us will ever find the much-needed peace of mind to put this shit behind us.
