CUP CALAMITIES
Defender Sergio Ramos dropped the Copa del Rey, or King’s Cup, in 2011 when Real Madrid were parading through the city in an open-topped bus. The bus ran the cup over and squashed it. Ooops!
Fireworks and confetti were released as Brazilian team Corinthians lifted the trophy after winning the 2009 local championship. The paper and fireworks landed in the trophy, which caught fire. Hot stuff!
The world’s smallest football trophy is just 6 millimetres high. It is given to the winners of the Lyonesse Cup, an annual match between the Isles of Scilly, which are just off Cornwall, and Dynamo Choughs, from Penzance. Not big but very Scilly!
