by Dawn Brookes
“Goodbye, Robert,” she said as she let it drop unopened into the ocean.
With a sigh of relief, she returned to the stateroom and got into bed, reflecting on the day. Marjorie had given her an open invitation to stay with her at any time. The captain had told her the cruise line was offering her a free luxury-suite cruise to a destination of her choosing, and a cruise-line representative had offered her a healthy sum by way of compensation on condition she signed a gagging order. Marjorie had been offered free cruises for life and an undisclosed sum of money for the trauma she had suffered. In addition to this, CSO Waverley had offered Rachel a job as a security officer if she wanted to take him up on it.
Best of all, Rachel thought as she put her head to her pillow for the last time on board the Coral Queen, Carlos has asked me out on a date.
