An Invisible Chain of our Time

companies and governments need to have a margin of maneuver, and for each resource some essential and strategic reserves. It is necessary to ensure continuity of the activities we paid and enjoy, and this have uses that we have never imagined. The use and the blocking of resources include manipulate the market, fix prices, lead the new trends of consumption, create new "repairing and fixing" industries, sell new opportunities of market where did not exist before, force agreements, as we can see when we read back again the last 20 years of politics and trade in the world, following closely the written in its footprints, the institutions that have been the tool for all this: the OECD, the WB, the IMF, the WTO, the trail of the GATT, the UNCTAD, the IFC, the AsDB, the AfDB, the IDB, and the IFC.

  We can ask us, today, almost 70 years after the WWII, where are the intellectual property rights removed to Germans (it remains today the past (payment for crimes), used, and where continue being used, as true business tool? It is a good question. Please, are you lawyer? Are you economist? Be awake once, you do not know really what are you doing, despite the impression you have of freedom and power: you are a small bearing that allows direct resources "up" and no more, my friend. It takes cold blood to understand that businesses are addressed doing that the people who works for you, always will need you, they be thirsty. And is not required to guide the business, the economy you know. The world will never be fixed reading or spoken, but maybe you could fix yourself, and the world is composed of people like you.

  We are improving your living condition.

  Is it understandable this, we repair some health conditions with expensive and inefficient drugs, whilst these diseases already have a cheap repairing, easy, rational, stop making mistakes like accumulate fats and sugars into the body, ingesting endocrine disruptors, chemical waste, stop fouling the air and water?

  A fact accepted as something natural, feasible, reasonable, is that the water is a good plenty, and can be used as much as we like, and is not a trouble that some of it can be polluted, and all this can be solved applying clever techniques which improve it, being all paid, and it is not a concern. Truly, the water is a complex chain of things: rainfall average, available water storage, water quality, distribution network, sewage treatments, and the cleaning polluted waters: altogether has a price that increases yearly. It is pointless that you must accept the need of any appliance to improve your home water: why let pay more and more, when there are not reason to the water be dirty? On the onset of this problem you are like consumer, farmer, industrialist, who wastes the good and increases the price that you will pay anyway. I do not want you to be a green; just do not be a fool.

  Have you ever thought why it is necessary to build parks into the cities, those “green lungs"? Is that to enhance the quality of life? It would not really stop destroying what existed? That would pay you, always.

  Have you ever wondered why you have children who rarely you see, who actually are being educated by others, completely, with whom each passing year it makes you harder to understand and speak? Is that really quality of life, for you? Do you know your children, really? A bit? Think about, two or three weeks: a lot of teachers have a very different, sad idea on this.

  Have you ever stopped to make the calculation of all the costs entailed all vehicles you have had? Did you do all the sums? The purchase price, gasoline, insurance, improvements, loans, parts, tolls, garage, final removal, repairs, accessories useful and useless taxes? I am very sure that you have never done, because when you know only half of these costs is secured a heart attack, and you will have another trouble more banned in your life: do calculations. But you like, you need, you will buy one more. That you do not know are the hidden costs of cars: the most of them have nothing to do with the petrol, the iron: you are paying also for roads, highways, patrols, control, high transports, delivery insurances, improvements, research, changes of technologies… every cost possible will be paid, you already are paying it. Even if it eventually breaks you will pay. You are supporting many companies…

  Ever examined the drugs sleeping in your house? Did you test them all? You know how many servings, dose amounts of shock, different defenses impossible save at home? Such are you terrified? So did you really need to buy so many things, as has happened to you -except for 2.5% of the population if required, according to the company's own figures?

  Unless you live above a parallel that really makes it difficult living away from home, have you noticed that, willy-nilly most of the time of your life should be included in a home running, and thus do something like watching TV around four hours per day? That is life? That is quality of life? That is not living life locked by system, between a job and a concrete box -at least for the 70-80% who have gone to live in "the city"?

  What about your make-believe? Can you tell me (a manner of speaking, of course) how many things, foods, clothes, activities, places, you have not seen if it is not necessarily on the TV, or today into the network, the net? You do not know what offer your neighbors, of course, neither what is there near you, in less than five miles: you do not remember what mean joint tasks. Do you remember some? Do you sound this? Of course the most of times not, it only remains in traditional cultures, and it is actually tradition, contact, the contact with nearby people, whatever be the reason. That is what? Where is this?

  What means actually the expressions "quality of life" or "living conditions"? Here I stop, that is enough, although the trunk is full of similar things.

  Inside the minds of leaders.

  A situation repeated in every field of work in the life is the specialization that achieves each professional. It would seem a perfect goal, an attempt that everybody should struggle. However, this mental isolation has consequences: everyone that eventually knows and ends mastering only one field of life, does not know nothing about his surrounding, the connections with other fields, the underlying links, and thus acts in his own field without considering the reality (not theory, not), the rest of the world. This applies to many professions, and specially to any technician or recent graduate specialist who has never seen any connection to other areas of life, except for a possible economic and salary. Everyone assumes that somebody somewhere or at some position establishes the right connections, but the only established connections are the commercial and at the best price, discounting some costs that are never included, as we are seeing at this point.

  This way, a professional may remain throughout all his life buried in his tasks, knowing nothing about how his job affects actually to others.

  This becomes worse when you are talking with a politician. It is then, the day you must deal and reach a comprehension with a politician, when you discover the reality about this, wherever be the place, whatever the issue, whatever the level, whoever the officer. You will discover forever the same, again and again, every attempt you make: they know virtually nothing except their inextricable issues, they do not understand nothing about any issue you can go there on your hands; and have the look to be informed!

  But after talking them along ten minutes (in the best of cases), they finally will make this universal and common question among politicians: what exactly is that you just said? At this moment you are witnessing the arrival of an asteroid from the other side of the Universe, impacting smoothly over the subject's head in front of you, and illuminating their inner neural network for short millionths of a second, like particle collisions in the European particle collider.

  So you now could understand, how difficult are some phenomena like seek the Higgs boson, or achieve that someone can be aware, or know something about things that actually happen on the real life. You may not trust this, likely you will do when you read or hear closely some sessions and meeting minutes from Government decision-making or legislative meetings. You have a lot there waiting you, publicly issued, because transparency means mainly that nobody will read anything.

  5. If we are not unbalanced ... then the Earth is flat: talking about feelings.

  We always were tribes.


  Each of us may talk about the World from our own look, our eyes; mine are stained by the color of my profession, my passion. At the present, everyone calls it the “environment,” a naivety more we have. Actually, we should maintain live the ambience, that huge and large complex net of beings of which we are part always, by which we live and are: our home, we should call it our “Common Home,” so it is really, we want or not. But environ is not only touchable things, physical things, are also the relations and processes as our activities. Actually there are diffuse frontiers between living beings, and this is not as we have thought like isolated departments.

  With time, I learned to discriminate between knowledge and science (are not the same), between consumption and use. Now, the neon signboards of scientific papers do not misleads me so much, nor the rewarded academicians, nor those chains of medals that someone puts in her shoulder for reaching an upper position in a big firm. This yet more when I discovered the ease that is there to make a thesis by paying the work to others, despite that you must be careful with translations, and erase some idioms that the black writers cannot avoid.
