April hadn’t mentioned leaving or anything changing yet, and I didn’t want to have that conversation, either.
This was too domestic, too happy for me to want to go back to the bottle or the life I’d been living right up until she walked back into it. I’d get sober, I’d keep her happy, and I’d protect them both with everything I had in me.
This was my family, and no one was taking that from me.

April
“Sabrina is in bed,” I said as I walked back out to the living room. Aaron was on the couch, popcorn in a bowl on his lap and sodas on the coffee table in front of him.
“I thought you might want to watch a movie if you’re not too tired yourself,” he said.
“I’d like that,” I replied. “But first, I’ve got a bit of a surprise for you.”
He looked at me with raised eyebrows, but I took his hand and pulled him off the couch. “Come with me, it’s in here.”
We walked to the bedroom, the look on his face clearly showing me how confused he was. He clearly didn’t know what to expect, and I looked forward to giving him the surprise. As soon as we were in the room, I turned, with a grin, and slowly began taking my clothes off.
I knew how to do a strip tease, and by the look on his face during the entire production, I knew I was turning him on. When I was fully naked, I walked over to him, moving as seductively as possible. I put my hands on his body, slowly taking his clothing off as well.
I was using the same method that he had the night of our wedding, and I could see now just how erotic it was from his point of view. I loved turning him on, and as each piece of clothing fell to the floor, I knew I’d done my job.
I eased him onto the bed, crawling over the top of him and straddling him in the process. He wasn’t inside me, but I was teasing him with my wet pussy. His cock was hard and erect, so I ran the lips of my pussy over it, showing him with the expression on my face how good it felt.
Leaning forward, I pressed my lips to his, just lightly grazing his chest with my tits. My nipples were erect, adding to the heat of the moment. It was more than he could take, and as I suspected, he flipped me on the bed so he was over the top of me.
I knew Aaron liked to be in control in the bedroom, and it wasn’t going to be hard to get him in the mood. He ran his hands all over my body, his mouth and teeth following. He’d send chills throughout the core of my being, he’d make me tingle and beg him for more.
I pressed my pussy upward, begging him silently to come inside me. He took his dick in his hand and pressed it to the slit of my pussy, but instead of pushing inside, he flipped me once more. I was on my stomach, my ass in the air as he entered me from behind.
Letting out as loud of a moan as I dared, I supported myself on my hands and knees as he pumped into me doggystyle. In and out, so deep and fast. He was hitting places inside me he hadn’t before, sending different sensations throughout my entire body.
I tried to keep my voice down. I didn’t want to have to stop because of Sabrina. But, with the pleasure that had taken over my body, it was hard for me to even think straight. Over and over he pumped into me, sending new waves of pleasure throughout.
I could almost see stars, and I felt high as he pushed himself in. His hands were on my hips, my legs were spread as wide as I could without slipping down on the bed, taking him fully. He was moving fast and hard, and I knew it wasn’t going to be long before he came.
But, he wanted to pleasure first. There was something in him that was so giving. Though he loved having sex, and loved having sex with me, he didn’t want to be the only one to finish, and he was going to keep it inside until he made sure I was fully satisfied. I moaned, lowering the front part of my body on the bed and sticking my ass in the air once more.
I pushed into him as best as I could, letting him fill me. I was getting closer to orgasm, and with the intensity he was pumping into me, I knew he was, too. We were working together, moving together in perfect harmony. The way our bodies fit together was perfect, and I couldn’t imagine ever feeling this way with anyone else.
He pushed into me a few more times, and at the same time my climax swept through me, I felt his dick buckle then jump, pulsing as he emptied himself deep within my pussy. I closed my eyes, letting myself relax as he held himself inside, keeping himself there until he’d given me all that was within him.
Aaron held me for another moment, then he let himself drop onto the bed beside me, still catching his breath. Our sex was intense and hard, and we had to recover when we were finished, but it was satisfying. Though this was only the second time he and I had fucked, I knew that this was a good match.
I’d never felt so satisfied when I’d finished fucking Hanson. Or, I should say, he had finished with me. He was selfish. He would take me until he came, then he’d let me go and I’d have to satisfy myself. He’d never make sure I had been pleased with any of our sexual encounters.
It was all about him, always.
After we laid for a few minutes and caught our breath, Jackson sighed. “Do you want to get to that movie?”
I smiled. “I’d love to. I’m going to put on something comfortable and check on Sabrina, and we can watch it.”
“Great,” he said with a grin. He smacked my ass as I got out of bed, and I giggled. It was strange, feeling so good with someone, but I had to keep myself in check. I didn’t know what was going to happen now that I was through with the court, and I didn’t want to ask.
I was afraid he was ready for us to part ways, and I didn’t want that to happen. Then again, if we were going to keep having sex like we did tonight, I just might be able to keep him around. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, and I tried not to think about what Brooke said about his wandering ways, either.
He clearly was turned on by me, and I wanted to keep that sexual spark alive. Not that it would be that hard, considering the way I’d turned him on tonight. Hell, he was clearly surprised, and he wanted to watch the movie with me after the fact even.
There was more here than just sex, I just knew it. He was trying to get to know me as a person, and I wanted to do the same with him. It was hard for me to open up with anyone, but there was something about Aaron that made me feel safe – even with his drinking, I felt safe around him.
Be careful what you think or feel here. You don’t know where this is going to lead, and you don’t want to get hurt again. Just live tonight and forget about the future. It’s going to come whether you worry about it or not.
Just live for now.
The next morning I woke before Aaron. We’d gone to bed in his room after I checked on Sabrina once again, though I made sure to keep both doors open in case she woke up in the night and needed me.
Most nights, she was sleeping all the way through and didn’t need me until morning, so I felt comfortable sleeping with Aaron in his bed. I eased myself out of bed and checked on Sabrina, happy to find her still sleeping peacefully in her crib. Then, I went back to Aaron’s room and slipped into bed with him.
I couldn’t help but notice how much he looked like a mischievous little boy lying in bed that way. He had a beard and tattoos, sure, but there was something about his features that reminded me of the Aaron I’d known years ago. The one who thought it would be a good idea to get into some sort of trouble and laugh about it later.
No one ever got hurt by our antics, but there were plenty of times when we had nearly gotten caught by the cops. I was glad it hadn’t ever happened – Tim and my grandparents would have skinned us alive if they knew half the things we were doing anyway, let alone if we’d gotten in trouble with the law.
God, I knew what this had to mean. I was falling for Aaron. Or perhaps I already had, and hard. There was a time when I had a crush on him, but that was years ago. I didn’t know that it would awaken again so easily in my life, but here I was, lying in his bed, his ink and ring on my finger, and me wondering if I truly was falling in love with him all over again.

sp; His breathing changed and he opened his eyes, looking up at me. “Good morning beautiful.”
I blushed. “Good morning.”
“How’d you sleep?” he asked.
“Better than I have in ages. I feel good this morning for the first time in a long time,” I admitted. “How about you?”
“Excellent,” he said. “How’s Sabrina?”
I felt a rush of excitement run through me. He cared enough about Sabrina she was on his mind first thing in the morning.
“I just checked on her, she’s still asleep,” I said with a smile. “I think she had a good night, too.”
“That’s great,” he said. He yawned and I nestled into him.
We laid together for a moment, his arm around me and his hand looped through mine. I liked listening to his heartbeat against my ear.
“You hungry?” I asked. “I bought eggs and bacon last night, I could go whip some up.”
“Do you want to?” he asked in surprise. I smirked.
“I’m starving, and most people eat breakfast when they get up in the morning.”
He chuckled. “Alright. I’m going to shower and I’ll be out in a few minutes.”
“Okay,” I said. He gave me a light kiss on the forehead before sliding out of bed, once more sending a shockwave through my body. Every time he touched me, I felt on top of the world. I didn’t know I could be so happy with someone, yet here I was.
I got out of bed and headed back to the spare room to get dressed before starting breakfast when it suddenly struck me. I hadn’t seen Aaron drink at all for a few days now. He had been completely sober the night before, and here he was, sober again this morning.
I hardly dared to let myself get my hopes up. I knew someone who struggled with alcohol would be able to stop for a few days, but once they started, they would hit it hard. Then again, I thought about what Brooke told me – about Aaron being a good man inside.
Maybe she was right. Maybe you are the one who can bring it out of him.
I smiled as I continued to patter into the spare room to get dressed. Maybe my life really had taken the final turn, and this time for the better. If Aaron was going to quit drinking, then I could truly trust him – I knew without a doubt I could. I hoped it was really happening, and not just temporary.
I wanted to give myself to him fully, I was just scared to do it when I was competing with the bottle.
But if he quit, there was a chance.
Maybe this was the man I could give my heart.

“Are you sure?” I asked. “This isn’t some bullshit thing they’re doing just to try to get a feel for the situation?”
“I’m sure,” Jinx replied. “Text Spencer and tell him to meet us at the Molly Brown. That’s where they hang out on the weekends, and tonight, something big is going down. We’ve got leaders on both sides working on this, and this could be the answer we’ve all been looking for.”
I sighed. I had a feeling he was right, but I knew this was going to be dangerous. A meeting between a corrupt MC leader and a drug lord could only end dangerously, unless we were to stay out of it altogether. I didn’t want to put myself at risk, not with April and Sabrina here.
But then, this was what we’d been after all this time. It would be foolish to be hunting for these people – to have Jinx deep in their club – only to pull out now because I didn’t want to get in some sort of trouble.
“I’ll text him,” I said. I hung up the phone and April looked at me with concern in her face.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“Our guy might have gotten what we need,” I said. “I’m going to get Spencer and we’re going to head over tonight and see what we can dig up.”
“Really?” she asked. But, there wasn’t any excitement in her voice. I could hear the concern, the worry, but there wasn’t any excitement at all.
“Yeah,” I said. “This could be the answer we’ve all been waiting for.”
“I’m not sure you should go,” she said. “It could be dangerous.”
I smiled. It felt good to have someone who cared about me. There had been more than once in the MC when I knew I was the one who was sent into a situation because I didn’t have anyone at home waiting for me. But now, I did, and she didn’t want me to get involved.
“I know what I’m doing. This was part of the job I signed up for, remember?” I asked.
She nodded, but there was still worry in her face. “But maybe they’re off the scent now that I moved. I mean, the court thing is done and over with, and I’m not in that apartment anymore, so maybe, you know?”
Her words hung in the air, and I sighed. I walked over to her and put my arms around her. “I know, but as long as Tim’s killers are out there, you aren’t ever going to be safe. I need to do everything I can to make sure you and Sabrina never have to deal with them again. And, Tim needs to be avenged.”
She was quiet. She understood, I knew she did, but she was worried. She didn’t want to lose me, and I didn’t want to lose them. I wanted to stay in the safety of the house, but that’s not how an MC works.
“You’re going to take Spencer with you?” she asked.
“Always,” I said with a grin. “We are buddies, and if there’s anyone I know is going to have my back in this, it’s him.”
She nodded and seemed to relax a bit. I knew she wasn’t thrilled with the situation, but she was going to go along with it if that’s what I thought was best. It was one thing I admired about her, and I figured came from her having a brother who was in the MC in her younger years.
She knew that we were dedicated to what we did, and we were going to see through our missions fully. No one was going to back down, and I wasn’t about to be the first. With Spencer by my side, I knew we were going to come out on top. At least, I had confidence we were going to get what we wanted out of the situation.
Jinx sounded like he was confident in what we were doing, and though he was young and a newer member to the club, I had confidence in him as well. Carl seemed to like him, and Zach didn’t have anything bad to say, so I’d go along with his little plan.
After texting Spencer, I gave April a kiss on the forehead and Sabrina a kiss on the cheek, then I sped off.
I had killers to face.
“Glad you guys made it,” Jinx said when Spencer and I met him in the bar. “You’re late, but I’m glad you made it.”
“This isn’t the easiest bar in the world to find,” I said with a shake of my head. “For being such a hot spot, you’d think it would be out in the open.”
“They like it for the drugs,” Jinx lowered his voice. “So, we’re waiting for a guy who’s going to be coming in wearing a white leather jacket. He’s the man we’re to talk to, he’s going to have the answers. It’s safe to say he’s also very dangerous, and very volatile.”
“Does he realize that we’re going to all three be here?” Spencer asked.
Jinx shook his head. “He’s going to be meeting me, thinking I’m someone else. The code phrase is ‘do you know a good dry cleaners’.”
“Catchy,” I said.
“Subtle,” Spencer chimed in.
“I didn’t think of it!” Jinx said defensively. “I’m just the messenger, so to speak.”
“So what’s going to happen when we get this guy?” I asked. “What’s he got that we want?”
“I’m not sure. You know how it goes with these guys. Either he’s going to have information on drugs, or he’s going to be able to tell us where some of the cash is,” Jinx said. “And if we can trace the cash, we can trace the guys.”
“And we can find out who murdered Tim,” I added. It was a good plan. We were going after the men in reverse. If we all wanted this money, then we were all going to be looking for a way to get it. Anyone who was on the trail was going to attract the attention of anyone else who might be on the trail.
The closer any party got, the closer everyone got. That was just ho
w it worked. That is, if we were able to keep track of the key players.
“Of course, I’m sure we need to assume that they are watching?” Spencer glanced around the bar, though he had mastered the art of looking around without appearing as though he was doing so.”
“You know it. These guys are trigger happy. They like to shoot first and ask questions later. Though, I’m still convinced Tim was shot as a direct order, I don’t get any impression it was an accident from anyone,” Jinx said.
“You’ve talked to people about it?” I asked in shock.
“I’ve heard it talked about. As the new guy, I didn’t ask any questions, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t listening to every goddamn word that came out of their mouth. Every time I heard something about the misplaced cash or the guy that died, I was all ears,” he said.
“Did you get any names?” Spencer asked. “Once we have a name, we can cut through a lot of this bullshit and just start asking around for our guy – or the group of guys who did it. Let them know that some members of the Folded Flags have a bone to pick with them.”
“They don’t give a lot of names. It has to do with the drugs they’re running. With the businesses involved, no one wants to accidently get caught. There are a lot of smaller businesses who have been brought into this scheme out of pressure from the leadership. They don’t want their shops to burn down or some accident to happen while they’re on the job, so of course they are willing to work with the drug lords,” Jinx looked up at the clock.
“He’s late.”
“That’s a shame that they would do that to these people,” I said as I looked around. Carl had always been very adamant against drugs on his turf. More than once we’d run off people who were trying to operate a drug ring. We’d burned down meth labs, we’d been in shootouts with the drug cartel.
There were a lot of times when we’d risked our lives to keep drugs off the streets of Santa Rosa, and even with the fighting we did, it was a battle every single day. There were people who were relentless with their drug hustles, and though we didn’t want them there, they knew there was money in the trade.
