When She's Broken Page 13

"Mhm. I love you too. Always have."

Smooching her lips once more, he held onto her hips as they walked around to the passenger side.

"I hope it's not broken anymore," she said.

  "What? Her arm?"

  "Yeah. She hates that cast."

He pulled her door open. "She'll be happy that it's healed though. You can't always repair things that break, so she's lucky."

Astryd stared up at him, taking his words in but with a different meaning. D'Haven caught the look in her eyes and hit her with his handsome grin.

"Honestly, I'm the lucky one. I'm not done healing yet, but that's okay. I may have been broken, but I'm not destroyed," she said proudly, and he nodded.

"Not at all, Pebbles. You're the strongest woman I know. Let's see how strong you are when baby girl cries about this cast at her visit," he chuckled before pecking her lips once more and shutting her door.

The smile on Astryd's face had been present more in the last few months than it ever had with Alonzo. She reminded herself and heart daily that being broken wasn't so bad; not when the right kind of love, self-love, could mend it. Astryd had learned to love herself with no help from a man, but D'Haven's was something worth thanking God for.

Finally, she was free. Her chains had been broken, and Astryd could breathe again. This time with a new beginning. One that she'd cherish for the rest of her life.

  The End…

  Message from BriAnn

First and foremost, I must thank God for allowing me to pen such a heart-riveting tale. As a social worker, I work with women like Astryd every day. I pray for women like Astryd every day. To my readers, new and old, thank you so much for taking a chance on this novel. Your support means everything. If you enjoyed it, please drop me a review and recommend it to someone you think may need to read it. I’ll have paperbacks available on my website for the Holiday sale this month as well.

Though fictional, some women and men experience abuse in the form of love every day. Please understand and be aware that domestic violence is real and happening in our society. If you or anyone else would like to seek help, please reach out. The Hotline can be accessed 24/7 through the nationwide number 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). Also, my inbox is always open to chat.
