When Missy Mindle, witch and nurse to elderly vampires, goes to the Everglades in search of ingredients for a potion, she finds something she didn’t expect. A young dragon with a broken wing. There are many bizarre creatures in the Everglades, native and non-native, but who knew dragons were among them? The dragons hide from humans in the massive wetlands while guarding a magic portal there to prevent entities from entering from other worlds.
And this isn’t just any baby dragon. This is a dragon prophesied to restore the species to greatness. That’s why an evil, ancient god wants to destroy it, and an almost-as-evil CEO tries to capture it. Missy has to protect the dragon while it heals (and snacks on the iguanas in her neighborhood). Her only weapon is her not-always-dependable magick, but she is learning that she has inherited more power than she realized. Too bad she also has her hands full with her vampire patients, including the always-annoying Schwartz. He needs to be rescued from jail after bringing werewolf blood through Customs. (It’s like Viagra for vampires. Don’t ask.)
