Winter's Heart Page 9

She yawned, exhausted from the conversation, and met Elijah’s gaze. “I’m pretty fond of you, too.”

This time his smile was more natural, more dazzling. “We will have to explore this mutual fondness a little more when you are back on your feet.”

“Oh, you can count on that!” She smiled and closed her eyes, wishing she could experience Elijah’s kiss.

It was as if he had read her mind. His soft lips pressed down on hers, and the connection created a warm heat in the center of her heart. Sparks danced on the back of her eyelids, and her entire body tingled. This was something that could become all consuming.

She wrapped a bandaged arm around his neck and opened her mouth to deepen the kiss.

He pulled away with a chuckle, and she opened her eyes to his bright blue ones that held the same spark igniting inside her.

“Rest and heal first,” he whispered in a voice that had turned husky with need. He ran his thumb across her bottom lip and smiled. “That was just a tiny incentive, so you get better as fast as humanly possible.”

That was one hell of a stroke of motivation.

That little peck was not nearly enough for Lisa. She wanted so much more from her white tiger.

  She wanted forever.
