“Where do you want to have dinner tonight?” Ash asks, taking my hand and twirling me. “I’ll take you anywhere on the island. We can even go get wings and see if Jared’s hot bartender is still there.”
I laugh. “I haven’t thought about her in years. I can’t believe you still remember.”
He snorts. “Jared might have asked me to check in on her. He thinks he ruined her for all other men, and he wants to make sure she’s okay.”
I can’t speak for a minute or so because I’m laughing so hard. “Yes, I’m sure that Jared’s stellar performance in the sack destroyed any hope she had for happiness without him.”
Ash raises an eyebrow. “Stellar performance?”
I put an innocent look on my face and flutter my eyelashes. “His girlfriends tend to be very forthcoming.”
He looks like he just smelled something bad. “I didn’t need to know that.”
“I’m not so sure about dinner,” I tell him. “Can we just order room service?”
Ash grins at me. “Dessert first, Mrs. Kiplinger?”
“You know how I like it,” I say. And those are the last coherent words I manage for quite some time, as my husband proceeds to re-enact the first time he pinned me to a bed on Pole Island.
God, I love the beach.
