“Look what the cat dragged in.” Annoyance radiates off Dante.

I tilt my head forward and spot Maya at the top of the stairs, waiting to be let in by the bouncer. I watch her give the bouncer a dazzling smile before he opens up the rope and allows her through. Her eyes lock with mine and she gives me a little nod of acknowledgment before she waltzes over to the bar.

“Fuck, can’t she go back to New York,” Enzo growls and returns his attention to his cousins. The three of them ignoring me, making idle chat about some weapons haul and a casino.

I remove my heels and nearly groan as the blood rushes back to my aching feet. I close my eyes and listen to music as it swirls around the room, drowning out the chatter. After a while of relaxing with my eyes closed, I feel Enzo’s body lean against mine.

I open my eyes to be greeted by a set of sultry, dark brown eyes, with a fire burning behind them. I notice Luca, and Dante, have disappeared and it’s just the two of us sitting on the lounge.

“Want to go downstairs so I can fuck you on my office desk?” His eyes sparkle with a villainous gleam, holding me captive.

“Enzo.” I bite my lower lip, the very thought of it turning me on, and I squeeze my thighs together.

“It’s the last door on the right, down the hall, past the bar.” He oozes sex appeal like a fucking volcano. It coats me in desire. “Go.” He leans in and takes my lower lip in his and bites it.

“Okay,” I moan into his mouth and let him kiss me deeply. I grab my heels, shove my sore feet in them, and make my escape down the stairs. The adrenaline in me making my heart stutter from excitement.

I push through the crowds gathered around the dancefloor and manage to make it to the hall past the bar, the door at the end in my sights. I’m a bundle of nervous energy, mixed with desire and excitement. I stop at the door and look down the hall, to see Enzo storming through the crowd, like a fucking raging bull on a mission.

I open the door and am about to step through. “Holy shit.” I pause in shock. Luca has Maya bent over the desk and is fucking her from behind. “I’m…I’m,” I stutter and slam the door shut, as Enzo steps up behind me and presses his hard cock into my ass.

“I can’t wait much longer, open the damn door, or I’ll take you right here in the hall.” His voice is rough, the need for release saturating his every word.

I spin on the spot and search for words that will convince him that this is a bad idea. I grab him behind his neck and press my hips into his erection. “I’ve always wanted to have sex in the back of a limo.” I try to convince him by being all eye fluttery sexy.

“Fuck, can’t I just dip it in here and then again in the limo?” He slips his hand between my legs and massages my clit through my panties.

I nearly give in. “Please,” I plead and run my tongue along his lips.

“I’m going to blow just from hearing you begging for it,” He bites my lip again. “Come on.” He pulls me away from the door and my heart kicks down a notch, knowing Maya and Luca’s secret is safe for now.

Enzo drops me off at my dorm room, to pick up one of my folders I need for class. Both Amber and Emma are out, and I am glad I still have my key in my bag. I grab what I need and make my slow trek across campus to the building near Sinatra’s. As I round the corner, there stands Luca, waiting with his arms crossed over his broad chest.

Fuck, are we back to this again?

I approach him like he’s a rabid animal, with caution and ever so slowly, and decide to get the first word in before he thinks he can start his shit with me again.

“I haven’t said anything.” I glare up at him, the sun making me squint.

He drops his gaze to me and churns over my words. “I know, and I want to thank you.” He graces me with his signature smirk, one that has gotten him laid numerous times, I’m sure.

I falter and look at him in confusion. “Luca, is that you?” I place my hand over my eyes to stop the glare.

He chuckles. “Yes, funny.” He places his hands in his pockets, clearly uncomfortable being the one with the secret needing to be kept.

“I won’t say anything to anyone. But I think you need to tell Enzo, and Dante, and soon. Before it blows up in your face,” I offer.

“I know.” He keeps his gaze on me. “You’re not what I thought you’d be.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I raise an eyebrow, encouraging him to continue.

“You’re okay, freshman.” He winks at me and saunters off toward Sinatra’s.

“Okay,” I say to no one in particular, while I watch him enter the café.

Both Jake and the professor are absent form class and I don’t even want to think about what they’re up to. The fill-in professor has no clue of what the current topic is, so he allows us free study, which means I now have a spare two hours to fill.

I decide to go laze on the grass, that always looks so perfectly fake, and kill some time. I spread out my sweater and lay back to stare at the clouds in the sky, enjoying the relaxing shapes that float by, when a set of long legs stop in my periphery.

“Hey chick, thanks for keeping it a secret.” Maya places her bag next to mine and drops to her knees to join me on the grass.

I look at her and notice the dark circles under her otherwise perfect face. She looks like she hasn’t slept for days. I sit up and brush my hands on my jeans. “Are you okay?”

“I’m good.” She plasters a smile on and rolls her eyes. “My papa is a demanding ass, and me being the little princess he thinks I am, I do as he tells me to. I just got back from one of his dumb ass functions.”

“How long have you and Luca been, you know?” I waggle my eyebrows at her.

“It’s called fucking, you can say it,” she laughs, “since the auction.” She winks at me.

  “Really? What about your dad?”

“Enzo had Luca come to distract me, while he went and explained the fucked-up situation to you. I wanted to tell you, girl to girl, but Enzo wouldn’t let me fucking near you, the possessive little prick. I couldn’t help but enjoy the banter between Luca and me, and he’s perfect eye candy. One thing led to another and here we are.” She smiles.

“You came out to us on the balcony and I wanted to gouge your eyes out,” I laugh, now embarrassed about my stupid reaction to her back then.

“I know. I could see it in your face. I felt so fucking bad for you that night, but at the same time, I knew you’d be okay. I mean, you had the balls to outbid the New York mob boss. My papa still talks about you. I think you’re his hero.”

  “Great.”

  “My papa is harmless.”

I highly doubt he’s harmless to his enemies or to the ones that cross him. My thoughts flicker to Luca, and how he is going to get himself out of this predicament he has managed to get himself balls deep in.

“What are you going to tell him about you and Luca?”

“I have no idea,” she sighs. “We’ll worry about that when it comes to it. But for now, I’m happy to have some fun.”

“I hear you. I’m finally settling in here, it’s starting to feel like home.” I think back to when I first started, and I cringe at the thoughts of how mean they were to me.

“Is it true you’ve moved in with the Providence prince?”

“The what?” I can’t help but laugh at her.

“Enzo is a hot piece of sort after ass. He is like the bachelor in the mob world. Every young female of age will be dying slowly inside knowing he isn’t available. And every mob boss will be spitting chips they couldn’t get their precious daughter married off to him,” she taunts me.

“Do you really have arranged marriages?” I screw up my face.

“We do. It is so old school and such a mood killer. Imagine being married off to someone twice your age, just to make alliances and build a bigger kingdom.” Maya picks at the grass.

“Is that what’s going to happen to you?”

  “Not in this fucking lifetime.
Her eyes turn a shade darker.

“Not even if it’s Luca?” I watch her expression turn from anger to amusement.

“I wouldn’t say no. That man child tests me, but I like the challenge.”

“You two are made for each other. You give better than you get.” I hold my hand up for a high five.

She slaps my palm. “My papa taught me well.”

“I’m going to have to get to my next class. Do you want to get together and have a movie marathon at Amber’s tonight?”

  “Count me in. What time?”

  “Around seven.”

“See you then.” She jumps up to leave.

  “Maya,” I call after her.

  She spins on the spot.

“I promise I won’t tell anyone. You can trust me.”

“I know.” She smiles down at me, before strolling across to Sinatra’s.

  CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

  Enzo

The mahogany desk taunts me, beckoning me to become him, to become separated from any form of feeling, in order to get the job done. Only I don’t have the same make up, my DNA is half my mother. Her gentle and caring nature set deep in me somewhere, always lurking in the shadows, coaxing my demons to torture me.

I slam the laptop shut, frustration and anger brewing like a hurricane, ready to destroy everything in its path. The leads I have are not enough to justify a killing spree, not just yet. I will bide my time and wait for the perfect moment to strike. I will avenge my father’s death, not for him, but for the family name. It is what our rivals are waiting for. To see me fail in my first job as head of the Russo family.

Marco knocks at the door before striding to my desk, he drops a folder in front of me. I eye it with caution. “What’s this?” I pick it up and glance at him.

“Photo evidence. Just take a look.” He seats himself in one of the chairs.

I slide the photos out and study them for a moment. “Mother fucker.” I grit through my teeth.

“We have footage, it’s in your emails.” He waits for my reaction.

“The fucking corrupt bastard. You’re telling me, he’s been behind all the petty crimes targeting our business.” I flip through the photos. Each one showing the guilty culprit speaking with Richards.

“What are you going to do, with the girl?” Marco eyes me with caution.

I raise my eyes to meet his. “Absolutely nothing. She isn’t a part of this. I’ll deal with her father though.” I ensure he understands my words. “If anyone even thinks of taking revenge on Summer because of her father, I will personally gut them and display their organs on their front lawn to warn anyone else who thinks they can touch her.” I place the photos on the desk, knowing my warning will be passed along.

He nods in response. “We are working on the other case. Still no leads. I’m afraid it will take a while longer before we get a breakthrough.”

“I have all the time in the world.”

Marco stands and adjusts his suit jacket. “We are all on your side, Enzo.” He tilts his head and exits the room.

I lean back in my leather chair and grab the photos, staring at them with malicious intent, just about ready to put a bullet in this fucker’s head, to end all my headaches.

“Hey, Enzo,” Luca’s voice contorts to sound like The Godfather, as he waltzes into the room.

I glance up at him, unable to stop myself from laughing. “I’m glad you showed up, I need your ideas.” I push the photos across the desk.

“What’s up, why was I summoned?” Dante strides in.

“I didn’t text you, did I?” I look at my phone in confusion.

“Luca said to meet you both here,” Dante drops into the chair, looking at Luca.

Luca hovers by the door before closing and locking it. He turns to look at us and hesitates before taking a step forward. “I have a confession.” He drags his hand through his hair.

“You look nervous. Should we be worried?” I eye him suspiciously.

“What the fuck have you done now?” Dante looks at me and back at Luca.

“Hear me out before you react.” Luca holds his hands up and nods.

“Okay,” I say slowly and lean forward, bracing my elbows on the desk.

“You know the cop, well, the cop is Maya.” He takes a step backward.

“Maya is a cop?” Dante’s eyes dart to Luca and back at me.

  “No, you moron,” Luca exhales.

“Luca’s fucking Maya,” I say while my eyes follow Luca’s every move.

“Fuck off,” Dante half laughs, grabbing his head in his hands.

“Dude, say something.” Luca watches me, his expression on the edge of uncertainty.

I sit in silence, not moving, glaring at Luca.

“Fuck, Enzo,” Dante waves his arms in front of my face.

“Enzo, shit. Fucking say something, throw something. I don’t care just don’t sit there in silence looking at me like that.” Luca grabs his hair in his fists and scratches the back of his head.

I burst out laughing and both of them look at me like I’ve lost my marbles. “Had you going there for a bit, you dumb fuckers. Like I give a shit who you’re pounding.”

“Fuck you, I thought you were going to murder me for a second. My fucking heart was about to explode.” Luca strolls to the empty chair in front of the desk and drops into it as though he’s just run a marathon.

“Maybe we’ll have that special alliance after all,” I tease and throw a pen at Luca.

“Piss off, I’m not marrying anyone.” Luca catches the pen and throws it back at me, missing by an inch.

“You should have told us from the beginning. We don’t keep secrets.” Dante slaps Luca in the back of the head.

“Little miss sunshine knows how to keep her mouth shut. You’ve got a keeper there,” Luca smirks at me.

My ears prickle. “Summer knows about this?”

“She caught me balls deep in Maya at the club on the weekend. I’m surprised she didn’t tell you.”

  “Interesting.” I feign nonchalance.

“Maybe she’s made for this family after all,” Dante sniggers.

“But, seriously, you don’t give a shit I’m banging the enemy?” Luca watches me intently.

“No, not at all. Just don’t let her in on any Russo business, and she’ll be spared,” I remind him.

“Duly noted, Captain.” Luca salutes me.

“On another note, I need you two to assassinate Richards. Make it look like an accident.” I wait for them to process my request.

“Fuck.” Dante leans back into his chair. “What’s this about?”

I push the photos toward him. “This.”

Dante retrieves the envelope and removes the photo evidence, handing each photo to Luca once he’s inspected it.

“What about Summer?” Luca studies a photo with a crease between his brows.

“I’m taking her to meet my mom. I don’t want her involved in this and I definitely don’t want her finding out about it.”

“When?” Dante looks up at me.

“Next week. I’ve booked the flights. Everything is in place. I just need you to carry out the plan without me.”

“We got this.” Luca fist bumps Dante. “Fuck yes, that slimy cunt deserves to be put down.”

“Thanks.” I lean back in my chair and breathe a sigh of relief.

  “Anything. Anytime.” Dante nods.

I ride the elevator to my penthouse, wondering if Summer is back from her movie night. The elevator door opens, and I stalk into the apartment, soft lighting illuminating the room. I place my keys and wallet on the bench and remove my jacket and shoes, leaving them in the kitchen. I make my way to our bedroom and hear her softly breathing, the rise and fall of her breasts have my dick twitching.

I stand at the side of the bed, and take in her beautiful features, her soft skin and silky soft hair as it fans out above her head, and promise myself I‘ll never let her out of my sight again. She is mine from here until e
ternity.

I place one knee next to her and manage to straddle her, so her hips are beneath me. My fingers itch to touch her delicate neck and I place them against her skin, the beat of her heart pulsing against my palm.

She lets out a small moan and attempts to turn over to her side, startling awake to me looming over her. Her eyes widen in fright and my dick goes hard, the look in her eyes turning me on.

  “Enzo,” she whispers.

“Shh.” I slightly tighten my hand around her throat, holding her in place.

“Do you have a secret you wish to tell me?” I lean down and lick the side of her face.

“What are you doing?” She tries to squirm under my weight, but it’s pointless.

“Tell me,” I growl into her ear.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” She pushes at my chest to try to move me off her.

“Don’t play dumb.” I look into her eyes, she’s not showing one ounce of being afraid.

She bucks her hips up into me. “I’m not.” She glares at me, her anger starting to fire up.

I chuckle in her face and can’t keep up the pretense of being a vicious prick anymore. I kiss her and she allows me. I chase her sweet tongue with mine and nibble her soft lips until she’s molten goo under my touch.

“Are you keeping secrets?” I whisper against her neck and flick my tongue against her goosebumped skin.

I feel her swallow against my hand. “No,” her voice rasps.

“I think you’re lying.” I suck her earlobe into my mouth and graze it with my teeth.

“I’m not.” She arches her back and her breasts press against me.

I sit up and take my hand off her throat. “Did you know about Luca and Maya?” I raise my eyebrows.

“Yes,” she admits. “It was none of your business.”

“Oh, is that right?” I grab her waist and brush my fingers against her ribs.

She squeals in ticklish delight. “No, I mean yes.” She squirms under me.

“Which one is it?” I grab her wrists and hold them above her head.

“It was not my secret to tell. But I’m glad they told you.” Her breasts rise and fall as she breathes heavily.
