Given that they’d relocated to Texas, Ted wore only swim shorts now, his chest bare, his scars still vivid slashes on his skin—a reminder of his past. Like her mental wounds, they would fade over time. Already, she stressed less. She’d even relaxed enough the other day to have a nap in the afternoon rather than work.

  She. Napped.

Ted could be directly blamed for her new attitude and ease with life. The man balanced her crazy.

And then there was the thing driving her crazy in a good way. Her girls, currently in one-piece swimsuits as they chased Ted with water guns, spraying him, Ted protesting and laughing that they were ganging up on him.

When he dove for the hose, the girls shrieked and ran away. He uttered a fake evil laugh and chased after.

It brought a smile to her lips. Such a good man.

  My man.

Her hand dropped to her tummy, just as he turned to look at her. His gaze dropped. Then rose.

He stumbled to a standstill and mouthed, “Are you?”

She nodded. A good thing Joanna had agreed to follow them. She’d need the help. The house next door gave Joanna space while allowing her to still be a part of their lives.

While he was distracted, Mae snuck up and yanked the hose out of his hand, turning it on him.

But he didn’t care. He strode through that cold stream, smiling from ear to ear. He swung her into his arms, then around and around until she gasped, “I am going to puke on you.”

Setting her down on her feet, he eyed the girls and said, “You’re going to be—”

“Big sisters. We know.” Mae rolled her eyes. “Took you long enough to figure it out.”

“When can we tell him it’s twins?” Lin asked, eyeing Portia.

“Two babies.” He swayed on his feet.

The girls dropped their weapons and supported him, one on each side as they said in tandem, “Don’t worry, Daddy. We’ll help.”

His gaze misted as he said, “My girls.”

Portia’s was even damper as she murmured, “My world.”

  The End

For the moment, that’s it for the Killer Moms, but you never know… I might just be tempted to see how deadly a Dance Mom or a Unicorn Mom can be.
