I smiled as I read and reread the message then began tapping out my next message.
I’m so happy to read your words, but I need you now, Alpha. I need you to come fight with us. The guys are already all gone. They’re at the portal. It’s urgent.
I sent the message and waited. It seemed to take an eternity. Thirty seconds, sixty seconds, a minute and a half. What was he doing? He’d just said that he loved me. Was it too much to ask him to come help me?
I can come pick you up.
Finally, I thought, letting out the breath I’d been holding in.
Good. I’m at my house waiting.
I’ll be there in five minutes.
I sent him a thumbs up and hurried to put on a good pair of sturdy boots. I had a feeling the day would be long and tough.
Five minutes came and went, and I grew increasingly impatient as I paced before the front window. Ten minutes.
“Come on, Alpha,” I groaned. “We don’t have all day.”
I looked at my phone to see if I’d missed a text and was tempted to text him to see what was holding him up. On the one hand I didn’t want to be the annoying girl who is always on her guy’s back, but on the other hand, this was urgent. I started my message;
What is goi…
Before I could finish my text I saw him coming up the drive. “Finally,” I muttered under my breath.
I hurried out the door trying to hide how impatient and irate I was.
“Oh, my God,” he said when he got out of the car and saw my face. “Look at you. What have they done to you?”
“This is nothing,” I said. “You should have seen me a few days ago. I was quite the pretty sight.” I gestured to the car. “We should get going.”
“Right.”
We got in the car and drove off into the desert. The dirt roads were deserted, but Romeo seemed oblivious to the urgent nature of the matter. I was about to ask if he could go any faster, but stopped when I looked at him and saw the worry and concern in his eyes.
“I can’t believe they did this to you,” he said angrily as he gripped the steering wheel with both fists. “I’ll get those girls. You’ll see. I’ll teach them to treat you this way. Shit. They really shouldn’t have gone so far. You’re mine and they know it. Shit, they know it!” He slammed the palm of his hand against the steering wheel.
I looked quizzically at him wondering what he meant by ‘shouldn’t have gone so far.’ How far should they have gone, I wondered.
Smiling, Alpha looked at me with tenderness and reached out to gently caress her cheek. “You can’t imagine how it hurts me to see you like this. It’s absolutely inexcusable what they did to you.”
He came to an intersection and stopped. Leaning over, he kissed me gently and I was tempted to ask him to simply pull over so we could relieve some tension.
Despite my injuries, I’d craved him these past days and finally seeing him, my cravings turned to desperate need. A quick release on the side of the road before heading to battle would do me a world of good. I’d be better able to concentrate and fight efficiently.
“Are you as tense as I am?” he said, still stopped at the intersection.
“I can barely think straight I’m so horny.”
“That settles it, then.” He drove on for a quarter mile and pulled into a deserted canyon. “Come over here,” he commanded as he untied his seatbelt, undid his pants and quickly pulled his hard cock out. “Come fuck the shit out of me.”
I kicked off my boots, tore off my jeans and crossed over to his seat and straddled him. His cock slipped easily into my hot and wet pussy and I rode him as if my life depended on it.
In our heightened arousal, our intense orgasms came quickly, and our sexy groans filled the car. I soon found myself falling into him, holding him close while his cock slowly softened inside. I wanted to remain in his arms forever and feel his heartbeat against mine. I’d all but forgotten about the crisis at the portal. All that mattered was him, his body, his hold on her.
“It’s crazy what you do to me,” I whispered, my voice hoarse with sexual satisfaction. “I’m ready to give up everything just to be with you. These past days have been pure torture and they’ve taught me just how much I need to be with you. A day without you is one day too many. Promise me it’ll never happen again.”
“That’s a promise I can make. I’ve been lost these past days thinking about you and worrying about you. It’s insane how you make me feel.” he said, his words a soft hush that filled my ears. “I almost cancelled my class yesterday. I was so concerned about you I could barely think straight. Three times students snapped their fingers at me trying to get my attention. And now, seeing the bruises on your face. I question going to the portal. I almost want to insist that you stay home, that you let me fight this battle.”
“That’s sweet, Alpha,” I said, sitting back to lean against the steering wheel. Looking into his eyes, I melted all over again. “This is my battle too. I have to be there.”
“I know. I know there’s no point discussing this with you. I knew you’d refuse me. Yet, I had to try.”
I heard my phone ding. “That’s a text,” I said. While remaining on his lap, I leaned over to reach for my jeans on the floor of the passenger side and pulled out my phone.
“Shit,” she said as she read the text.
“What is it?” he said.
“It’s Asher. He says the break-out is massive. Hundreds. We need everyone available for this battle.” I got off him, wiped myself off and slipped back into my jeans. Filled with guilt, I thought of the moments wasted. How could I take the time to satisfy my sexual needs while everyone I knew was fighting for their lives? “Let’s hurry.”
Romeo started the car and put it into drive. “We should be there in ten minutes.”
“What about the others?” I said as I buckled my seatbelt. “Did you tell your students to come?”
He pulled onto the road. “They should all be there by the time we arrive.”
Even Hilda and Cinda? I wondered. But there wasn’t time to be concerned with them now.
They had a true battle on their hands.
Chapter 20
The moment we arrived at the portal and Alpha stopped the car, I ran out in search of my father. Demons were running wild everywhere and every slayer I knew was there fighting. Hector was busy with three tenacious demons while Sully took care of a dozen of them, slashing them down one after the other. Lucas charged into a group of them, obliterating them with a few quick as lightening slashes.
Further on, closer to the portal, I noticed Dr. Good. I was impressed with the woman’s agility and the calm and cool way she had of dealing with every demon that dared come close. Beyond her, Asher, skillfully slayed demons as fast as he could, while my father, his brow dripping with sweat, fought valiantly, though clearly he was near exhaustion.
Asher spotted me, finished off the demons around him and ran to me.
“This is one hell of a mess,” Asher said breathlessly.
“Why didn’t you guys wake me?” I said. “Why didn’t you let me know what was going on?”
“We didn’t have time.” He held up his sword and slayed the demon that rushed him from behind. “Besides, you weren’t feeling too hot.” Asher looked over my shoulder. “Good.”
I turned to follow his gaze.
“Reinforcements,” he said. “We need everyone.”
An entire busload of slayers was streaming into the melee, slaying from the moment they got off the bus.
“Where’s Romeo,” Asher said. “I thought he was coming, too.”
I scanned my surroundings and I realized I’d completely lost sight of Alpha. Good thing, too. Now I could concentrate on the task at hand without being distracted by my need for him.
“Watch out,” Asher cried as he lunged past me and slayed a sneaky demon. “Catch you later. I gotta deal with these guys.” He ran off, chasing two demons.
I realized I’d not even brought any weap
ons with me and wondered if Alpha had thought of it. I looked back to the car and noticed the trunk was open and a few students were arming themselves. I headed back to his car hoping the students didn’t take every weapon. I had to get in there and fight. I’d been negligent since meeting Romeo and I had to make it up to everyone. But as I made my way, I noticed a tall handsome man smiling at me.
“Brax?” I said, shocked to see him. I’d been tricked before and didn’t want to be fooled again.
“Lux,” he said with relief. “I wasn’t sure it was you.”
I stared at him not knowing what to say. Finally, I pointed to the car. “I need to get a weapon,” I said feebly. “They need me.”
“Lux. It’s me, Brax. Don’t you recognize me?”
“They need me,” I simply repeated.
He looked beyond me and shook his head. “They’re doing fine now. That busload of students is stemming the flow. I think we have it under control now.”
“Still,” she whispered. He was so handsome, and he sounded like the Brax she knew and loved. Could it be him? Really him?
“Lux, look at me,” he insisted. “I’m back. I’m really back. I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s really me. When the portal opened, I slipped out. I escaped. I’ve been looking for you.”
I wanted so desperately to believe him. Looking down into the open trunk of Alpha’s car, I looked at the various weapons and pulled out a lightweight sword.
“Good choice,” Brax said.
I looked quizzically at him and he, in turn, gestured beyond me to the other side of the car.
“You should be able to slay all three in one solid swoop with that one,” he added.
I turned to see Romeo flanked by the Thompson twins and a few other new students I’d seen on campus but had never met.
“There’s your true enemy.” The demon or Brax seemed so sure of what he was saying.
I looked at this creature that looked so much like Brax and knew it had to be a demon; a demon seeking to make her kill the man she’d grown so close to; the man she loved.
“Don’t you see it, Lux?” he said. “That Romeo is playing you.”
More confused than ever,I looked to Romeo, her eyes begging him to tell her that this demon was playing her.
“Would you really believe a demon, Lux?” Romeo said in that soft voice I loved so much.
“Open your eyes, Lux,” the Brax demon said. “They are the succubus beautiful beings. All of them. And your Romeo is their ringleader.”
Alpha laughed. “How ridiculous. How long have you been stewing in hell to come up with such a notion?”
I looked at Romeo, wanting to believe him; needing to believe him. But in my gut, I knew. All these weeks of craving him so desperately. I was ready to give up virtually everything just to be with him more and more. It made sense that he should be a succubus. It explained everything.
Even on the drive over. With my friends in peril I took the time to fuck with this man. I suddenly realized that aside from the Latin class and aside from fucking him every chance I got, I knew absolutely nothing about him.
Just like my attraction to Moore, I’d allowed myself to be taken in by his sexual appeal.
“Don’t look at me like that, Lux,” Romeo said. “You know me better than that. You know that I would never do anything to harm you.”
The twins giggled. It was a sickening and wicked sound.
“Think about it, Lux,” Romeo went on. “How could I be a succubus and still teach at SHA? There are rigorous background checks and endless interviews and a personal one on one with Dr. Good. She would never let a succubus through.”
Clinging tightly to him, the twins giggled again.
Romeo’s words suddenly came back to choke me; they shouldn’t have gone so far. A sudden sinking feeling took over me. Had he planned for that attack? Had he encouraged it?
Oh, my God, I thought with horror.
“Lux, look at me,” Romeo said. “Think about it. How could I be with you and not drain you? It doesn’t make any sense. Surely you see how impossible these accusations sound.”
Still giggling, Cinda looked up at him. “You told us not to mess her up too bad because you wanted to drain her yourself.”
“And that’s why we hated her,” Hilda added. She shot a menacing glare at me. “You didn’t drain the bitch because you let yourself fall in love with her instead.”
“You’re lying!” Romeo shouted, disentangling himself from their clingy hands. “Both of you.”
“How could you?”
I turned to see my father standing close by. The battle behind them had quieted down and I was suddenly aware of everyone who stood watching the exchange.
“How could you do this to her?” John repeated.
Dr. Good glared at Alpha Romeo. “Is this true? You’re a succubus?”
“Of course, not,” Alpha said.
Dr. Good shook her head. “I don’t believe you. From the beginning I’ve suspected there was something about you. Something I didn’t like, but I could prove anything. You’re fired.”
Romeo chuckled and shrugged. “Fine. I don’t think I’ll be needing that job anymore anyway.”
I realized he’d been lying to me the whole time.
“I can’t believe I was taken in by you,” I whispered.
“None of us can believe it,” Asher said.
I turned to look at the people around me. Asher was red with rage, while Sully and Lucas looked on in shocked disbelief.
Then I saw that the Brax demon still stood there, looking at me and waiting.
Epilogue
“Lux,” the Brax demon said. “If you don’t want to believe that it’s really me, I understand. These are confusing times for you, and I know that it’s not easy. But I beg you, don’t be foolish enough to believe him either.”
Dizzy with confusion, I looked at him, wanting more than anything to hold him, wanting desperately to believe him. Then I looked at Alpha and felt the same need to believe him.
“Regardless of what you believe, Lux,” John said. “Just be careful. Step away from him.”
I wanted to cry in frustration. I loved these men, yearned for them and there I stood, afraid to get close to either.
“I don’t know what to do.” I looked at the men around her, then glanced at the twins. If Alpha really is a succubus, then why didn’t he suck out her soul? And Brax – seeing him alive reminded her how much she loved him, and also reminded her of her desire to find Moore.
Romeo lunged forward and grabbed me by the hand, pulling me to him. “Please, Lux. Don’t believe them. Don’t believe anything they say. I love you. Above all else, I love you. I love you more than my work at SHA. Surely you feel it. When you’re with me, when I hold you, when I kiss you – don’t you feel it? He took my hand and placed it over his heart. “Tell me you feel it.”
I looked up at him, my heart aching. Or was it breaking?
“Come with me, Lux.”
She shook her head. “Romeo. I think I need time to sort through all this.”
His eyes darkened suddenly and his beautiful smile turned sinister. “But there’s no time.” He swept me up in his arms and rushed to the portal.
“Stop!” John called out. “Stop him.”
Everyone chased us as Romeo picked up the pace and made it to the portal just as the others caught up to them.
“I have her, you useless bunch of slayers. I have your precious Lux. How do you like that one, John? How do you all like that? Your precious slayer.” He glared at Asher. “And you call yourself a protector. Fuck you. What a shitty excuse of a man you are. I’m at the portal with your specially angel marked slayer. Shit, and she’s got angelic blood. Do you all realize what I can do with that? Do any of you realize how many beautiful beings her blood can heal? You’ll see, when I make her one of us…”
“Romeo,” I said as I fought to break out of his arms. He held me in a painful grip that allowed no movement despite my strug
gles.
Sully stepped forward, eager to fight him.
“Don’t even think about it, Goody boy.” Romeo held me aloft over the portal. “I could just drop her in and let her lose her way around down there.”
The Thompson twins and the other beautiful beings streamed through the portal.
“Thank you all for everything,” Romeo said to everyone who stood around helpless. “I hadn’t planned on bringing her down just yet, but now that we’re here…” He looked at me with a devilish grin. “Get ready for the ride of your life.”
I closed her eyes and Romeo went through the portal, bringing me to Lord knows where.

Cruel Princes of Wyvern
All-Boys Academy
When I received a royal decree from Queen Jade of the Emerald Realms to attend school at Wyvern School for Boys, I thought it was a prank pulled by my friend William who apprentices with me at the Blacksmith. There was no way I could attend such an elite school just for kings-to-be.
But it was a Royal Decree, and if I don't obey the Decree, there was a threat of death to me and to all I hold dear, which probably means William and his parents, Bilbo and Kate, the blacksmith and his wife, the alchemist, whom had let me stayed with them since I became an orphan.
To keep them safe. To keep me from losing my head, I packed up what little belongings I had and enrolled at Wyvern School for Boys.
