  Acknowledgments

I’ve wondered to what extent authors are playing at being modest when they thank these great lists of people involved in the creation of their novel. They aren’t playing. I get it now.

Windfall would not be the same without the insightful editing and generous time of Andrew Lowe; and the tremendous talent and patience of Jamie Keenan.

Windfall would not be at all, were it not for the unrelenting curiosity, enthusiasm, love, and support of family and friends.

I am deeply grateful to nieces and nephews Mya, Nolan, Liv, Henry, Deacon, and Spencer for providing immeasurable inspiration—especially to Henry, for his trust.

A nod of humble appreciation to those writers and authors who share their experience and knowledge, without ego and without competitiveness. It is an incredible community.

And to Tiffany, with whom countless weekends and walks were consumed by talk of characters and clues; thank you so much. We can recycle those old drafts now.

  About the Author

Byron TD Smith lives on Vancouver Island. He writes mysteries when he isn’t accounting, motorcycling, or rambling in the coastal forest. He loves the smell of old books and coffee, the sight of streetlights coming on, and the sound of new wave music from 1987. The location of his secret underwater base remains undiscovered to this day.

Windfall: A Henry Lysyk Mystery is his debut novel. Henry and Frieda will return…
