  Cory nodded. “You’re not moving away, are you? This house is much too big for me, and I know I’m going to have lots of questions for you once I really get started.”

  “Don’t worry, I’m not moving out yet,” said her grandfather. “I’ll be here until the day you get married and your husband moves in.” He turned and gave Blue a pointed look. Blue smiled and nodded as if they’d reached a silent agreement.

  “Since you’re not nearly old enough to get married, there’s plenty of time to learn your trade,” Lionel continued as he turned back to Cory.

  “Are you sure that you’re all right with this, Blue?” Cory asked him.

  Blue reached for her hand across the table. “I don’t care where we live or what job you do . . . You are mine forever, which is all that really matters to me.”
