“Well,” I said, quite impressed that I was perhaps talking to a descendant of the real Dr. Watson, “I will definitely look at Watson in a better light now.”
Brody raised his glass. “Or now we can just be our own team, like Batman and Robin.”
“I’m Batman,” I said, defiantly.
“Or…Superman and Superwoman.”
“Whatever you are, you’re always going to be a great team,” Ruby said with her perfect smile. “But I think I’ll just call you Mr. and Mrs. Sheriff!”

My grandmother and her church family put together a recipe book in 1950. My other grandmother was the President of the Ladies Homemaker Club in her hometown and they also put together a recipe book in about the same time period. Although the books are weathered with wear, I'm sure the recipes are still good today. Here are some of those recipes. Enjoy!
Date Pudding---From my grandmother Lorene Forgey
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 Tablespoons butter
1 1/4 cups water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup walnuts
1 cup dates
Boil these together until syrupy then pour into a backing pan.
Mix together:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
Drop the second set of ingredients by spoonfuls into the syrup, but do not stir. Once all of the second set of ingredients are in the pan of syrup, bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. After taking pan out of oven, push the the pudding back down with a fork. Serve with whipped cream.

Baked Apples Ala Mode
Ingredients:
6 cooking apples
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
Wash, core, and then pare the apples ½ way down from the top. Place apples in baking dish. Put the brown sugar, water and butter in a cook pan. Heat the ingredients and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the mixture over the apples in the baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes, or until apples are tender. Serve the apples slightly warm with ice cream.
