Heartbreak And Past Mistakes Page 50

by Chenell Parker

Ace really drove his wife crazy. Their son wasn’t scared of anything, but Lyric was scared of everything. Ace was just being a typical little boy but Lyric was too feminine for all that. He was happy that they were having a girl because they needed some balance. If it were up to Lyric, their son would be soft as hell. He was a boy and she didn’t even want him to get dirty. Ace didn’t like to babied and Lyric was having a hard time with that.

“I thought we agreed to have a big family since we’re both only kids,” Bronx reminded her.

“That was before I gave birth to the puppet master,” Lyric said while rolling her eyes.

“Stop letting Ace stress you out and relax,” Bronx said as he pulled her closer to him.

“I’m happy that your mama is coming to get his ass tomorrow. I need a serious break.” Lyric yawned.

“He’s ready to go too. He know he can get his way over there with her and Warren,” Bronx laughed.

Warren had an iguana and Ace loved to play with it. If Lyric wasn’t so scared, he would have let him have one at their house too. It took over a year before Bronx let his uncle start going back to his club. Warren seemed to have gotten his mind right after a while and the two of them were getting along better. He now worked full time at the nursery and he’d recently gotten himself a one bedroom apartment. Wanda didn’t let him bring his women to her house anymore and he couldn’t take that. When she caught one of his women looking through her refrigerator naked, she banned him from having company altogether. He still hung by his sister’s house every day but he went to his own house every night. He was also responsible for spoiling Ace just like the rest of them.

“I’m staying in the bed all day when his bad ass leaves tomorrow,” Lyric replied as Bronx rubbed her stomach.

Lyric talked all that shit about her son, but she wouldn’t change anything about him. He kept them on their toes and there was never a dull moment when Ace was around. Still, she was happy for all the help that they received. Sometimes they needed a break and she was happy that they often got them.

Lyric laid there and thought back on all the things that she’d been through in the past and she was happy for the place that she was in now. She often laughed when she thought about how she’d given up on love and relationships. Thankfully, she didn’t make a permanent decision based on temporary feelings. Everything that she went through taught her a valuable lesson that she would always remember. She learned from the mistakes that she made and she was easy to forgive. She now knew that heartbreak was a blessing from God. It was just his way of saving her from the wrong ones and preparing her for the right one. As bad as things seemed at times, she wouldn’t change anything about her life, including the heartbreak and past mistakes.
