Faith rolls her eyes and smiles, “Yeah. I do.”
Sam goes to the center of the street in the neighborhood and calls for everyone to come to him so he can give them each a gun.
“I know this is kind of complicated to figure out, but soon we are going to be attacked by the men who created the virus.”
The crowd starts murmuring to themselves, but he continues to talk,
“I understand most of you don’t want to kill people. I don’t either, but it’s either them or us. I know you all want to survive. Trust me I know. We’ve all seen what they can do. How they treat us. We can’t allow them to do that anymore. I have a plan, but I need all of your help. We’re going to make this our safe zone. We have to have better security because this…this is not safe. They will be coming and we must be ready. This is a new world and we are going to survive it. I can promise you that. If you don’t want to fight, that’s okay. There are many ways you can help, but I want to make sure you are ready when the day comes. I’m not trying to take the leadership position, but I am telling you what I think is best for us.”
The people looked at him and no one said nothing. Everyone looked and they all looked at each other with confirmation. By looking at them, Sam knew he had their attention. They appreciated how much Sam cares about all of them rather than himself. He looked around and saw men nodding their heads in agreement and others smiling. They are glad someone stepped up and took control. Sam looked at his mother and she looked back. She nodded her head and Sam smirked a little.
“Okay then. Let’s get to work.”
Sam starts issuing out guns to the people and they all smiled with hope. This was someone who wanted everyone to survive. This was their leader. Sam sent some people to the posts and others on each side of the gate to make sure it was secure.
Outside the gate, the group of men was watching the camp from the inside of a house while a whole horde of zombies headed towards their camp.
“Do you think we got them now?” one man asked.
“Not yet. They’re going to put up a fight, but we are going to kill them. They killed our leader,” he chuckles, “they fucked up.”
The men threw flares that led to the zombies to the front gate of the neighborhood. Sam gazed at the front gate and assumed the worse. The horde was huge. Unstoppable. Dangerous. The whole group was frightened by the number of loud thuds that impacted the front gate. Sam stared at the gate and smiled. He was no longer afraid of the zombies. They were nothing to him anymore. The zombies started pushing the gate inwards and the others ran towards it to keep it standing. Sam grabbed his weapon and ran up to the front gate along with them.
“Come on! We can hold them! Do not let them in!”
While keeping the gate standing, Sam gazed at one of the big, hard nails that kept the gate intact and watched the nail shoot out of its place.

There are many people that I can thank for this book. One of which is my brother, Donnie. He has given me thoughts on certain parts of my book and kept my mind refreshing with ideas. I would also like to thank all my family and friends for giving me hope enough to finish the book and keeping themselves interested. Their support pushed me to finish the book.
