Broken Promises: The Broken Series Second Generation Page 16

by Heather D'Agostino

“I’ve missed you so much,” I whispered as I pushed his hair back off his face.

“Me too. I don’t want to ever spend another day apart.” He rolled on his side and faced me. “I mean it, Rils. I don’t want another second to go by in my life without you in it. You’re too important to me.” He cupped my cheek and closed his eyes.

“We don’t have to. I’m moving home tomorrow.” I smiled. “We can go back to the way things were before.”

“I don’t want to go back.” His face sobered. “I was planning to wait until after graduation.” He scrambled off the bed and dug for his shorts. “I didn’t want to give your dad another reason to hunt me down, but I’ve never done things the easy way.” He held out his fist. “Riley, I want to spend every second of the rest of my life with you. Marry me.” He opened his fist and there was a beautiful diamond ring. I blinked a few times, trying to make sure this was real. “Say something.” He laughed nervously.

“I don’t know what to say.” I gaped.

  “Say yes.” He laughed again.

“Yes?” It sounded like more of a question than an answer. “I mean, yes!” I nodded as I picked up the ring and slipped it on. “Yes. I’ll marry you. Yes! I want to spend every second with you.” I flung my arms around his neck and we toppled over on the bed laughing. His erection once again started to grow and I giggled. “Already?”

“I told you we had all night.” He snickered before rolling us and sealing his mouth to mine.

We made love all night just as Caleb promised, and when my parents showed up the next day, my dad didn’t kill him. In fact, they already suspected it was coming. Dad seemed more concerned over the fact that Easton had decided he wanted to pursue Jiu Jitsu like he did at his age. Easton has always been a daredevil and I don’t think Dad can handle what Easton is proposing. Only time will tell, but if Easton has it his way, he’ll be in the cage as soon as he’s old enough.

I always have a hard time with these because I’m worried, I’ll forget someone. Friends and aspiring authors always ask me how I do it; that it must be hard. I tell them, “writing is the easy part, it’s the rest that’s hard.” Fortunately, I have a great team. The writing is the easy part. It’s the perfecting it, promoting it, molding it, designing it, and sharing it that’s hard.

Thank you to all my team members. Thank you, Angie, for being my trusty alpha. Thank you, Skye, for being my trusty beta. Thank you, Kellie, for the amazing editing. Thank you, Shauna, for the kick ass cover photo. Thank you, Cassy, for the beautiful cover. Most of all, thank you readers. Without you, I couldn’t do what I love.

I’ve been asked about this book for years. Readers fell in love with Wes, Angela, Ally, Cole, and Maddie in the Broken Series. I alluded to a sequel at the end of Broken Pieces, but I wanted to do these characters justice. I hope you loved Caleb and Riley as much I do, and I look forward to sharing Easton’s book next.
