Lunchtime Chronicles: Served Page 3

Oh fuck, how I had missed this. This woman was my heart and my soul – the woman was my fuckin’ everything.

I took the back of her neck, keeping her bridled, and I groaned on her lips, overcome by the intense satisfaction of her touch. My hand fell to her titties and I kneaded her breast.

  Needed her breasts.

Massaged it through the expensive leather top she was wearing. Didn’t matter though. In a matter of minutes, her nipples were pressing against it, welcoming my overdue advances.

She afforded me half-a-second more of ecstasy, before she turned her face away. Her eyes were shining with unshed emotion, but I knew my mama better than anyone. She’d never let a tear fall.

I reached out for her again, feeling the immediate slice of separation. “Savvy, wait,” I begged.

“You asked me to wait in college,” she replied in a bitter whisper. “I did, and what happened? You fucked me over, just like you’re trying to do now.”

My chest tightened. “People are looking for you, and I don’t want them to catch up with you,” I said. “I... fucked up when we were in school, Savvy. I hurt you real bad, I know – but I’m not that boy anymore.” I blinked, feeling the sting in my eyes. “I wanna keep you safe, mama. I can make whatever you got yourself into go away, but it’s gonna take me a couple of days, and I don’t want anything happening to you in the meantime.”

“Nothing’s gonna happen to me, Colton,” she contested, using the full name.

Stubborn, bullheaded. Fuckin’ sexy as shit.

“You call me Savvy for a reason,” she continued. “It’s because I’m resourceful and smart, and I’m smarter now, especially after dealing with the likes of you.”

Shit was stinging. I moistened my lips. “Doesn’t matter what you say, mama,” I informed her gently. “Yeah, you’s a bad bitch. I see your kingdom.” I gestured to the club. “It’s real fancy, real nice. You got people at your beck and call. You sit high and look low.” I bent my face towards hers, desperate for another taste of her. “But when they come to get you, ain’t gonna be no amount of muscle to keep them from taking you in.”

Her breath snatched and I erected myself.

“And when they start questioning you, what you gonna say?”

“Whatever my lawyer tells me to.”

I chuckled. “Or you could pocket that retainer and come with me,” I suggested. “Forty-eight hours, mama. I’m not here to arrest you. I’m supposed to, but there’s no way I’m gonna turn you in.”

Her brown eyes narrowed. “Why should I trust you?”

  “Because you know me.”

She grunted out a laugh. “And that’s supposed to make me feel better? Isn’t that part of the problem?”

My jaw jerked. “I swear I’ll keep you safe,” I whispered. “I can make this go away. Ain’t nothing gonna happen to you if you’re with me; but I need you to be with me. Besides, we still got shit to talk about.” I adjusted my hat and lifted my chin. “So come on, mama. Time’s wasting.”

  Chapter Five

  Savannah

I wanted to argue with Colton, but he was right: the minute the police descended on me, I’d have no real defense. And yes, I had money for a lawyer – money wasn’t a problem for me – but if Colton could make this thing go away, the way he said he could, I wouldn’t need to spend the money.

  My back stiffened in defiance.

Shit. The last thing I wanted to do was have to depend on Colt. He’d already proven that he wasn’t worthy of my trust. When I’d looked at that screen and seen him sitting there, the only thing I could think about was the slap I hadn’t given him in college. In fact, I’d marched down here with every intention of giving him that slap, clean across his sculpted, brazen cheek, and walking away; but I’d neglected to consider what standing in front of him would feel like.

It had been a rush of the past: the good, the bad and the ugly, but despite the fact that he insisted on calling me Savvy, or darlin’, or whatever else he’d called me in college, I wasn’t that girl anymore. Back then, his cowboy charm melted my heart. Those brown eyes and long lashes had me believing that he was the man of my dreams, but then he’d gone and done the unthinkable: cheated on me with my fucking roommate.

Just recalling the moment I’d walked in and found him, balls deep inside of her was enough to rekindle the fire that had been burning for over a decade and a half!

Still... if he could make this thing go away, I would be an idiot not to take him up on the offer. I’d use him to clear this dumb-ass legal issue, then bolt.

“Come on, mama. Time’s wasting,” he said. He extended his arm, which was clad in expensive designer denim. And he was wearing a cowboy hat. Back in college, I used to beg him to wear it for me. He looked so sexy. And whenever we made love, he’d put it on my curls and call me his sexy cowgirl.

Now I was thinking about the way I used to feel riding him hard in college. All he’d done was kiss me tonight, but how could I not feel that solid bulge in his pants, like a rod of pleasure? The urge to rip my clothes off and beg him to fuck me senseless – just this once – had been immediate. Then, after he’d satisfied me, I’d banish him and tell him to leave me the hell alone. He’d fucked me over in college and I didn’t do the second chance thing.

  That was Jesus.

I needed to stop thinking about it. I wasn’t wearing panties and my pussy was spasming.

Grudgingly, I made my way to the underground garage, with Colt at my side. He never said a word, but I could feel his eyes on my hips and ass, burning holes through leather skirt. His stride was long and confident, and against my will, my pussy heated up. Again.

I remotely started the car. When I got to the door, Colt was pulling it open. I ducked inside.

“Go home and pack a bag,” he commanded. “I’m gonna follow you in my car.”

  I rolled my eyes.

He leaned into the window until our faces were mere inches apart. “Once you’re packed, you come with me. My jet is waiting at the airport.”

  His jet?

“Where the hell are you taking me?” I demanded.

“To my ranch in Bisbee,” he said, and he chuckled. “Don’t tell me you thought I was gonna book a room at a Motel 6...”

My own laugh caught me off-guard. The last thing I should have been doing was laughing with Colton Wright.

He gazed at me, eyes hard yet soft around the edges. It was the exact face he had every time we made love in college, while he was holding me in his strong arms, stroking the side of my face, kissing my lips in the moonlight.

My mouth quivered, but I set my jaw. “Don’t look at me like that.”

  “Why?”

“Just don’t do it,” I insisted.

Colt made a dramatic show of trying to adjust his features. I wanted to laugh again, but the hell if I’d do it.

  Fuck him!

He closed the door and stood back, scanning the area. “My driver is up top,” he said. “We’ll wait for you and when you’re done packing, we’ll change vehicles.” He paused. “And don’t you dare try taking backroads to lose me, Savvy. You do some shit like that, and I swear I’ll cuff you myself.”

  Pussy-clench.

I shifted the car into gear and revved the engine, like I was gonna run him over.

Colt smirked and meandered to the side, then I sped towards the exit.

I got to the curb and waited. Soon, the headlights of a limousine were shining into my rearview mirror. For a country boy, Colt was elaborate as fuck! Suddenly, my thoughts shifted to the man who’d been with him earlier that night. The last I’d seen, he’d walked off with Candy, who’d been particularly shifty ever since her encounter with them at the table.

I pulled off the curb and started for my townhouse, then instructed my phone to call Candy.

  No answer.

“Candy, call me when you get this message,” I requested into the voicemail answering system. “It’s about the cowboy. I have to go out of town fo
r a few days, so between you and Ul, I need you to manage the club.” I paused, thinking about something else. “Stay safe and keep your eyes open,” I added. “Colton Wright is a bounty hunter, which means the guy he was with might be also. Stay alert.”

I clicked the phone off, still thinking.

If Colt was gonna handle my legal affairs, maybe I could get him to deal with Candy’s as well. If her shit went away, so would mine. But would Colt be expecting something in return for his help? The mere thought had me burning all over, especially in my crotch area.

I arrived at my house and quickly packed a bag, as Colt stood guard. Every now and then, he’d try to engage me in a conversation, but I wasn’t in the mood. Him at my place was the last thing I wanted. I’d been avoiding him for years, and now he was in my bedroom. Next to my bed. Acting like he belonged there with his sexy cowboy ass.

  God, I hate him!

I stomped to the limo and reached for the door at the same time he did. When our hands brushed, I jerked away.

Colton frowned. “You gonna treat me like I got the plague for the entire forty-eight hours we’re together?”

“You ain’t seen nothin’ yet,” I responded, sliding into the back seat.

Colt huffed and eased in next to me.

I scooted away. “How many bedrooms do you have?”

  “Four.”

“Wonderful. I’ll sleep in the fourth one.”

“If that’s what you want,” was his response.

For some reason, it angered me. Did another woman sleep with him in the master? Hell, for all I knew, all four of the rooms were occupied with buckle-bunnies waiting for their turn to ride his dick.

  I simmered.

“What you thinkin’ ‘bout, mama?” he asked. “You still get that wrinkle above your nose when you’re upset. I remember it well.”

“As you fucking should,” I snapped. “Half the time, you were the one to put it there.”

  He didn’t say anything.

“I’m not thinking about anything,” I finally answered. “In fact, you can quit talking to me, because I have nothing more to say. Just do what you said you were gonna do so I can come back home and forget we ever saw each other again.”

Colt sighed but nodded at the driver who promptly pulled off.

  Chapter Six

  Colt

Cowboys always get what they set out for. It’s a hard and fast rule; so when Savvy was finally sitting her pretty little ass next to me in my jet, it weren’t no surprise to me. But what did surprise me was the way she had taken to acting.

For some reason, her fire had receded to embers. The glow was still there, but the crackle and the pop had left.

  I didn’t like it.

My goal had been to tame the woman, break her down until she realized that she needed me just as much as I needed her – especially now that the law was after her – but the things she’d said had me unsettled, and the fact that she’d barely uttered a word since leaving her townhouse had me tense.

Now, we were in my Hummer, starting the three-hour drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International to Bisbee, where my ranch was located, and she was riding shotgun next to me, looking prettier than a desert flower. My jaw clenched just thinking about it.

  About her.

After fifteen years of not seeing her, not even knowing her location, here she was. Not only that, a few hours ago, my lips had reunited with hers, something I had fantasized about a million times over. Weren’t no amount of pussy in the world that could make up for what I lost the day she walked away from me. I was man enough to admit that I had done her wrong back then. In college, the name Colton Wright demanded a certain response from the girls, and before I’d copped Savvy, I hoed around, engaging pussy like the end of the world was coming and I’d be the only man left standing, tasked with replenishing the planet; but then I’d found her and all the player in me dried up.

  Until that one fuckin’ night.

But there were more important matters at stake right now – like clearing Savvy’s name, keeping her with me until whatever mess she’d gotten herself tangled up in faded away. It wouldn’t take much, just a few phone calls and a couple of deposits.

For her I’d do it. For her, I’d fuckin’ do anything.

“You really aren’t gonna talk to me, are you?” I muttered, manipulating the vehicle, yet desperate to put an end to the uncomfortable silence engulfing us.

“I told you, I have nothing to say,” she answered, looking out the window at the rolling mountain range. The sun was rising, so the rays were glowing from behind it, making it look like God was sitting on the peaks.

  Real pretty.

My grip tightened on the steering wheel. “Not even a thank you, Colt, for rescuing my ass?”

She grunted. “Must be a hypothetical question, because you know full well, you ain’t getting a thank you out of me.” Finally, she gave me her eyes. “Forty-eight hours, Colton.”

Unless I change my mind and decide to keep you, which I’m liable to do...

“You fix this and then you let me go,” she demanded. “The way I see it, you owe this to me, after what you did to me in college.”

Of course, she was still on about that.

I’d been running this moment over and over in my mind for a decade and a half – the moment we’d talk about what had happened. I’d always imagined bringing her back to my ranch, but back then, it had been with a permanent arrangement in mind. We’d been dating for nine months before I realized Savvy was the woman I wanted to spend my entire life with. During Spring Break, I bought two tickets and asked her to come home with me. It had been hella-nippish when we arrived, but the signs of life had been all around us, especially on the ranch.

Savvy was a city-girl, accustomed to the fast life, skyscrapers, and all five kinds of pollution. Back then, the only pollution in Bisbee was the smoke from my daddy’s nightly cigars and the squallin’ of the livestock in the barn in the early morning hours. Other than that, the sky was always crystal clear, and the water was so clean, God could have taken a bath in it, if he wanted to.

Now, I was taking her back. She hadn’t put up much of a fight. I’d been preparing myself to have to coax her along and had my handcuffs to do it. Her being naughty would have given me a reason to give her a good spankin’ the minute I got her home; but the only weapon she was using against me was silence, and it was worse than her piercing eye rolls or cutting tongue.

By the time we were reaching the Bisbee limits, mama was fast asleep next to me, no doubt tuckered out from all the excitement. Yeah, it had been a long-ass day.

I pulled through the gate of my property and had to slow down when my four hounds came bounding towards the vehicle, howling and yipping, excited for my return. I didn’t want them to wake Savvy.

  She needed the rest.

Even though my cock was talking to me, telling me to wake her up, take her up the stairs, and plant myself between those creamy-brown thighs, I didn’t want to disturb her. On top of that, my jaw was still recovering from the ringer she’d delivered hours ago.

  Damn woman...

I cut the engine and hushed the dogs away, then I looked over at Savvy.

Her head was leaning against the window, neck bent at an awkward angle.

I exited the car, went around her side and scooped her tiny body into my arms. She jerked a little, then settled, nestling her head in the crook of my neck.

“I missed you, mama. I’m sorry,” I whispered in her ear, nuzzling it.

  A moan, and then nothing.

Quickly, I hustled in the house and up the stairs to the top floor, where my bedroom was. She’d requested the fourth one, but she was tired and mine was closer.

That’s what I’d tell her anyway.

I laid Savvy on the bed and eased her shoes off her feet. Then, I undressed her: took off her jeans, and when my eyes fastened on her bare thighs, my cock pulsed to life.

Mama was thick – way thicker than sh
e had been in college. Gottdamn, those thighs had filled out, nice and fluffy, like my mama’s biscuits used to be.

I eased the jeans over her plump ass cheeks and down her legs.

  My mouth watered.

I made quick work of unbuttoning the shirt she’d put on and dressed her in one of my shirts and pulled a thin cover up over her.

She shifted onto her side and sank into the mattress, totally oblivious.

  She was beat.

I gazed at Savvy, wanting badly to touch her. “What you gotten yourself into, mama?” I whispered. “You’re right, I do owe this to you, but I owe you so much more.” I sighed, kicked off my shoes and jeans, and slid in the bed next to her.

Instinctively, Savvy rustled up next to me. Her softness pressed against my stiffness, and I pressed my nose into her curls.

This woman had wrangled my heart. I’d do whatever it took to keep her next to me.

  Chapter Seven

  Colt

By the time I woke up, the moon was hanging like a prop in the sky. I scrubbed my hand over my eye then threw my arm across the bed, looking for Savvy, but when I felt nothing but rumpled bedsheets, I shot up.

No way she left me again! Maybe she went to one of the other bedrooms.

I tossed my legs over the edge of the bed and quickly searched the room for my joggers. Dragging them over my legs, I bounded down the steps.

Immediately, the hounds congregated around my ankles, howling and barking for my attention.

“Not fuckin’ now,” I groused at them. “I’ll feed y’all later.” I hustled to the bedrooms, vexed to find that she wasn’t in any one of them. I searched the rest of the house and the dogs tramped after me.

“Where is she?” I asked them.

They were fuckin’ hound dogs. They routed cattle and helped me herd the sheep. The hell if they couldn’t tell me where Savannah was at.

Just then, I heard a ruckus coming from around the back in the henhouse. That was followed by Savvy’s frustrated grunt.
