Phil’s front SUV windshield and hood are smeared with blood and zombie pieces.
One of the zombies’ heads is still alive and is looking at me as Phil drives down the road.
Shaun jokes, “I think you have a new friend, Ry.”
Phil makes a left-hand turn, and the zombie body falls off the windshield.
I can’t help but to laugh after seeing the zombie try to bite the windshield glass and look directly at me.
Phil drives into the St. Petersburg hospital parking lot and parks in a parking space near the Emergency entrance.
“We’re here,” says Phil as he parks his SUV.
“Good job, Phil.”
Hector parks his car in a parking space a couple spots away from us.
I look out the SUV windows and see that the coast is clear.
Jon, Shaun, Phil, and I exit Phil’s SUV.
“What were those soldiers doing with those zombies?” asks James.
“I think they were collecting them.”
Shaun says, “I bet they were getting them for some sort of experiment or something.”
“Always with the theories,” says Phil.
We gather our stuff from the SUV and get ready to enter the hospital.
“What are we looking at in here?”
Felix replies, “We cleared out most of the hospital, but the one wing is blocked off. I have no idea what is in there.”
“Okay, we need to get into that wing and take everything we can. Try to keep your kills quiet, but don’t be overly cautious.”
Jon looks at Hector’s hammer and says, “Damn Hector. That medieval hammer is badass.”
“Thanks, it does the job. I got my handgun and knives with me also,” says Hector to Jon.
Jon takes out Silencer from the back of the SUV and says, “My baby does the job as well.”
Hector smiles and nods his head at Jon.
Phil walks over to James and sees that James has an AK-47, Glock handgun, and an Ash colored bo staff.
Felix gets his sword ready as well as his handgun and knife.
“You lead the way Hector.”
Hector replies, “Yes, sir. Follow me.”
Hector lets out a battle cry and eagerly runs towards the Emergency entrance.
James and Felix follow behind Hector.
Shaun looks at me and shakes his head.
I look at Shaun and say, “I guess they are super motivated.”
Shaun, Jon, Phil, and I follow behind Felix, Hector, and James.
The St. Pete hospital does have power as I see the lights are on, and I feel the air conditioning working.
I pass the elevator and ask, “Is anything worth checking out upstairs?”
Hector stops, turns towards me, and says, “We checked the second floor, but not the third.”
I walk over to Hector and say, “Let’s clear out the other wing and then check out the third floor, but only if we need too.”
Hector and Felix take us to the closed hospital doors that will lead us into the other wing of the hospital.
Chairs, tables, and stretchers are all blocking the doors.
Blood stains are on the hospital walls and the floor around the doors.
The closed hospital doors are solid and do not have windows on them.
I bang my fist on the closed hospital doors.
“What are you doing?” asks Hector.
“He’s seeing if anything is right by the doors,” says Phil.
A single slap on the closed door from the other side of the door is heard as I am watching the closed door.
“I think it’s only one zombie there. Let’s move this stuff way from the doors.”
Hector, Felix, Jon, and Shaun move the chairs, tables, and a stretcher away from the doors.
“Keep the one door closed. Keep the stretcher too, in case we need to use it as a shield.”
James holds the stretcher in front of him.
The closed hospital doors are clear now.
Shaun grabs the handle of the closed hospital door and looks back at me.
“We ready?”
Everyone nods their head as they hold their weapons in their hands.
Shaun opens the closed hospital door.
Hector runs through the doorway and smacks the lone zombie in the head with his medieval hammer.
Blood splatters onto the hospital wall.
James and Felix run through the doorway and stop next to Hector.
Jon, Phil, and I walk down the hall and find it empty.
Shaun closes the hospital door behind us.
The hallway is empty.
Hector laughs and says, “I guess it was only one zombie.”
Suddenly a door opens at the end of the hallway, and a large group of zombies start walking towards us.
“You had to say something!” shouts Felix.
I run down the hallway and make a quick dash down an empty hallway.
The guys follow behind me.
James pushes the stretcher at the zombies and the stretcher knocks two of the zombies down.
I see a nurse’s station up ahead.
“We need to find some meds and supplies!”
Two zombies come out of hospital room.
SLICE!
Jon and Felix cut off the heads of the zombies that came out of the hospital room.
I stop and try to gather myself and surroundings.
“We have company!” shouts Phil.
Part of the zombie herd has made their way towards us.
James runs at the zombie herd and starts firing his AK-47.
DAKKKKA!
James guns down several zombies, but a large number of zombies remain.
I see an open door behind the nurse’s station.
“Keep me covered guys! Phil come with me!”
Phil and I walk into the room and find some supplies sitting on a table.
Phil grabs the supplies and puts them in his duffel bag.
I see a large Styrofoam cooler and say, “We have to find the refrigerator with the vaccines and medications.”
SLICE!
BOOM!
BANG!
The guys are clearing out the remaining zombies.
Phil and I exit the room, and Phil walks over to the medication and supply cabinet.
The medication and supply cabinet keys are on the floor next to a severed arm in front of the cabinet.
“That was lucky,” says Phil as he picks up the keys.
Phil opens the medication and supply cabinet and starts filling up his duffel bag.
Jon runs over to me and says, “We need to get out of here. There are too many of them.”
I see the door for the stairwell.
“Come on guys!”
I run to the stairwell door and open the door.
The stairwell is clear.
The guys come running towards me as I hold the door open.
Shaun, Jon, and Phil run up the stairs.
“Go to the third floor!”
I’m waiting for Hector, James, and Felix.
I hear a gunshot come from down the hallway.
I leave the stairwell door and take out my katana from behind my back.
James, Hector, and Felix are still killing zombies.
CLICK! CLICK!
“I’m out!” shouts James.
BAM!
Hector kills two zombies with his hammer.
SLICE!
I stab a zombie in the head that was about to bite James.
BANG!
Felix kills two zombies with a gunshot.
I see there are only a couple more zombies left.
“Let’s finish them off!”
Hector and Felix yell as they stab and crush the zombies with their weapons.
James stabs a zombie in the head with his bo staff.
I kick a zombie in the chest and the zombie knocks two zombies down as he falls backwards.
A zombie is moving towards Felix.
I jab
my katana through the back of the zombies’ head. The blade of my katana comes through the forehead of the zombie and towards Felix’s face.
Felix stares at the tip of my katana blade.
I swiftly remove my katana from the zombies’ skull.
Hector kills the two remaining zombies that fell on the tile floor.
CRUSH!
The two zombie heads are crushed by Hector’s oversized medieval hammer.
I go back and grab the large Styrofoam cooler.
I meet Hector, Felix, and James at the nurse’s station.
“We need to find the medication refrigerator!”
Felix and James look down the hallways.
Hector and I look around, but we don’t find anything.
“Let’s get up to the third floor. My team is up there now.”
Hector, James, Felix, and I run up the stairs to the third floor.
I am carrying the large Styrofoam cooler in my hands.
We make it up to the third floor.
It’s quiet with no signs of danger.
“Shaun? Phil?”
“Over here!” shouts Phil.
I walk over to Phil and see them trying to get into a room that is marked employees only.
“We can’t get this door open. It has one of those electronic pass codes,” says Phil.
I put down the Styrofoam cooler and walk over to a nurse’s station that is near the door.
I open the drawers and look around the nurse’s station.
I see a note that has 1395 written on it and is taped onto the back panel of the desk at the nurse’s station.
“Try 1395!”
Shaun puts in the code.
The door opens.
“Bingo!” shouts Shaun.
Shaun opens the door, and he sees a fully stocked medical supply room that is filled with tons of medical supplies, medications, and a large refrigerator that is holding vaccines and insulin.
I walk into the room and say, “Let’s take everything here. Everything that we can carry.”
Phil says, “Let’s get back to my SUV and get the rest of the bags.”
Hector says, “We have some bags as well.”
Phil, James, Hector, and Shaun leave the room, go down the stairs, and make their way back to the vehicles.
Jon, Felix, and I start clearing out the supply room.
I remove the lid to the large Styrofoam cooler and see that we can fit a lot of stuff from the refrigerator, but we will need the other cooler from Phil’s SUV also.
Jon looks at the medical supplies and says, “We should be set for a long time with these supplies.”
“I hope so. I really hope so, Jon.”
CHAPTER 11
NEW AGREEMENT
“My men are in position as we speak. They will let me know when they see Jacob and where he came from,” says William as we talk inside Bobby G’s kitchen.
“Good, I want to know where he is coming from. We need to find out where he lives.”
“What’s the plan Ryan? Are you going to kill Jacob?” asks William.
I stop and think about what I’m planning on doing with Jacob.
I think about the prior interactions and altercations with Jacob and Chris.
I look at William and say, “If need be.”
Shaun, Phil, Jon, Matt, William, Bruce, Li, Hector, Felix, and James are ready to go.
I look at my watch and it reads, “12:43.”
“We will move out when William’s men update us on Jacob’s position.”
“Where are your men William?” asks Bobby G.
William replies, “They are in three secure locations outside the resort. They have eyes on the beach, the main entrance, and the streets outside the resort.”
“What if he is already there?” asks Jon to Shaun.
Shaun replies, “We are going in one way or another. I’m tired of having to worry about Jacob and the Conquerors.”
I ask Matt, “How was the neighborhood, while we were gone?”
Matt replies, “It was good. It was quiet, and Kelly and Jerri-Lynn got some good stuff on their run yesterday.”
“Awesome, I’ll have to check it out when we get back.”
Jon walks over to me and says, “I was meaning to say something to you Ry. Jerri-Lynn’s group took some damage on there run. You might want to check them out. Kelly told me that they ran into some zombies and a group of people yesterday.”
“Is everyone okay?”
Jon replies, “Yeah. I think so, but Kelly said for me to tell you about their run and that you might want to check on Jerri-Lynn.”
“Sir, we have some movement on the beach behind the resort,” says one of William’s men on the radio.
“Go ahead,” says William into his radio.
“Some bald guy with a strike team is coming from the Gulf of Mexico into the resort now. They look to have some serious weapons,” says William’s man over the radio.
“Any word on Jacob?”
William asks over the radio, “Any sign of Jacob?”
“No sir, it’s been quiet until now,” replies the man over the radio.
I look at Phil and say, “Sounds like DK is there. We need to be prepared for this. Body armor and heavy protection.”
Phil says, “Already packed my heavy body armor and gear.”
Shaun walks over to me and asks, “What’s the plan?”
“The plan is to set up a new agreement. Preferably one where Jacob and his group aren’t around anymore.”
Jon says, “Jacob and his men are too dangerous. They need to go.”
Phil says, “I agree. Chris, Jacob, and the rest of them.”
I look at my watch and it reads, “1:11.”
“We need to get going. It will take us some time to get to the beach resort.”
William says, “My men will stay in position and provide sniper coverage from the outside. If you go inside, they can’t help you.”
I look at William and say, “We are going inside.”
“Let’s get going guys. We leave in five minutes. Bring body armor, bulletproof vests, and anything else that will keep you alive.”
I walk out of Bobby G’s house and over to Phil’s SUV.
I gather my mind and mentally prepare myself for what potentially may occur at the resort.
Part of me doesn’t want to kill Jacob, but I can’t risk him being alive. If Chris is there, then I will have a hard time restraining myself from attacking him.
Phil, Shaun, Jon, and Matt exit Bobby G’s house and start to load up Phil’s SUV.
Hector, James, Felix, William, Bruce, and Li exit Bobby G’s house.
William walks over to me.
“My group and I will accompany you to your meeting with Jacob. We will provide cover outside the resort and anything else you need,” says William.
Bruce walks over to me and says, “We have to cripple them.”
I look at Bruce and William and say, “Thank you, I appreciate your help. We need to stop the threat of the Conquerors and Jacob.”
Bobby G exits his house.
I see Bobby G exit his house with his gear.
I look at Bobby G and ask, “Where are you going?”
Bobby G replies, “I’m coming to the meeting.”
“You sure about that?”
“Yeah, I can’t stay hidden here forever,” says Bobby G.
“Just stay hidden enough to not get killed. You have a knack for getting shot and beaten up by his group.”
Bobby G puts his gear in my SUV.
I gather everyone around Bobby G’s oak tree.
“Thank you all for doing this. I’m not sure what will happen exactly, but we need to be prepared for the worst. Stay on your toes and have your finger on the trigger. Don’t kill anyone, unless the meeting calls for it. Stay safe and hidden. I don’t want Jacob to know I have you all there with me. My small team and I will enter the resort and deal with Jacob. Team leaders, you have your radios. Keep them
available and ready to go. Let’s head out.”
My Brotherhood and the Warriors get into our vehicles, and we exit Citrus Oaks through the South entrance.
I am driving my SUV with Bobby G and Shaun.
Phil is driving his SUV with Jon and Matt.
William is in his truck with Bruce and Li.
Hector is driving his car with Felix and James.
“I hope this meeting goes well. I’m not sure we can coexist with the Conquerors anymore,” says Jon.
“Just be prepared with your gun. I doubt this meeting will go smoothly,” says Phil.
“I know you didn’t want me to come, son, but I can’t stay in the house and just wait to die. If it’s my time to die, then I will be fine with it. I probably should have died months ago,” says Bobby G.
“I don’t want to hear that shit. It’s your time when I’m ready for you to go. You can’t die yet and not by the hands of these assholes.”
I concentrate on driving down the road but feel a sense of remorse for what I just said.
My SUV is filled with awkward silence now.
I look at Bobby G and say, “You know what I mean. I don’t want you to get hurt, ever, let alone killed by these morons.”
“I know son, but what I’m saying is that I’m willing to die for the cause and for protecting you. I really am okay with it,” says Bobby G.
Shaun jokes, “How about me Bob?”
“Nope,” jokes Bobby G.
We all laugh at Bobby G’s joke and have a nice break from the nervous tension that was felt in my SUV.
I make a right turn onto the street of the resort.
Shaun picks up the radio and says, “The resort is coming up. You know your roles. Stay safe.”
William says over the radio, “I see the resort up ahead. Scout team, any news about Jacob?”
William’s snipers report no news since there last report of DK coming to the resort from the beach.
Hector parks his car at the entrance of the resort.
William parks his truck at the side of the resort near the beach entrance.
Phil and I drive up to the main entrance of the resort.
I look at the clock in my SUV and it reads, “1:49.”
Bobby G puts on his body armor.
Shaun puts on his bulletproof vest.
Phil puts on the chest piece to his body armor.
Jon puts on his bulletproof vest.
I put on the chest piece of my samurai body armor.
