Trudy stroked Quin’s arm, then kissed her dimpled fist, unable to resist. “I bet her diaper needs changing.”
“I’ll do it,” Levi said, taking her from Quintara again.
“And I’ll be glad to let you.” Trudy laughed at his eagerness to do everything for his daughter, even the smelly tasks.
“Grandmom says to hurry because dinner is ready.” Stuart trotted in and skidded to a stop near the changing table. He wrinkled his nose and sniffed. “Ugh. Quin did a stinky.”
“Yes, it’s a nose-burning one, son,” Levi agreed, motioning him closer. “Get the dirty diaper pail ready for me.”
“Yes, sir.” Stuart pulled the stainless steel pail closer to the table and opened the top of it.
Trudy and Quintara took a step back as the odor grew stronger.
Levi dropped the thoroughly soiled diaper into the pail and Stuart closed the lid in a flash. “Good work there, my boy.”
Stuart grinned and placed the pail beside the table again. He grabbed the can of room spray and released a whiff or two of it. Instantly, the area smelled like baby powder.
“Okay. Almost done here,” Levi said, fastening the new diaper onto his kicking daughter. He straightened her yellow dress with its white ducklings and one big turkey waddling along the hem and fixed the lacy cuffs of her yellow and white socks.
Levi placed the baby in Trudy’s arms before accepting the wet wipe Stuart handed him. He smiled at his son and gave him a wink.
“Who loves you, Stuart McFarland Wolfe?”
Stuart answered, automatically, “You do, Pop.”
“That’s right. We’re family. The Wolfe pack.” Levi kissed the top of Stuart’s head. “Never forget it and never doubt it.”
Trudy linked her free arm in Levi’s and Quintara linked hers with Stuart’s as they made their way to their Thanksgiving feast.
There was so very much to be thankful for.
THE END
Dear Reader,
This is the final book in the Mind’s Eye series. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing each of the six books. With tears in my eyes, I bid farewell to Trudy Tucker and Levi Wolfe. However, there are more characters and intriguing and sexy situations stirring in my imagination, so stay tuned. Join my readers’ group via my website (www.deborah-camp.com) and I’ll keep you informed on what’s next and when you can expect it.
Until then, happy reading!
