The Bad Girl and the Good Boy Page 9

Now, I needed to calm down and take Evelyn upstairs to get some rest. The drug in her system was why she did all of this, after all.

  •Evelyn•

Waking up the next day after drug use was a hassle. I felt extremely exhausted, but mostly a bit irritated.

I looked around my room and then checked the alarm clock on my nightstand, telling me that it was 9am.

That made me sit up quickly, making my head hurt at the movement. Shit! Wasn’t it Wednesday today? We were late for school, weren’t we?

Wait, what did I care? I was always late to most of my classes anyway.

  But what about Zavier?

I decided to go downstairs to see if anyone was home. No one was in the living room, but when I heard pots clatter, I knew someone was in the kitchen.

I pushed open the swing doors that led to the kitchen, and saw Zavier crouching, trying to pick up a few pots on the ground. His black and white checkered button-up shirt made it seem like he was frustrated, since the collar was up, hiding most of his neck, and the buttons were in the wrong holes, and only half of the shirt was tucked inside his pants. Hmm.

  “Hey, Zavier,” I slowly said.

Once he heard my voice, he dropped the pots again and blushed. He brought his right hand to his face and readjusted his glasses.

“U-uh, h-hey, Evelyn. You’re up early. I-I mean, not really early, it’s not early. Is it early? It’s early,” he quickly stuttered out as he chuckled and nervously scratched the back of his neck.

I just raised one eyebrow at him and helped him pick up the pots still on the ground.

“Right, yeah. Why aren’t we at school?”

That made him look up at me, his cute little brown eyes suddenly turning darker. “What did you think happened yesterday? Seriously, pfft… you’re thinking things now.”

The hell?! What was he talking about? And why did he sound so nervous?

  Was I missing something?

He was really acting strange. And why did we skip school? He would never, ever in a million years skip school, right? I mean, come on, he was like a good boy. What kind of good boy skipped school?

After we put the pots back on the counter, I put my hand on my hip and looked directly at him. I wanted and needed to know what was going on in that smart head of his.

  “Zavier?”

  “Nothing happened, all right!”

That made me jump a little in surprise. Jeez, why so defensive?

“W-whoever told you something, it was a complete and total lie! Nothing happened! Haha, I gotta go pee on my mom now. I-I mean, I gotta go pee, and then call my mom. Pshh…bye!”

I raised my eyebrow as he left in a rush, stumbling a bit over his own two feet.

What in the fucking hell just happened?

He was fine just yesterday, before I took the drugs. But I didn’t remember much about what had happened right afterward. Most people got addicted to that stuff, but I only tried it once in a while without getting too attached to it. So I was lucky with that.

Shrugging it off, I decided that I needed a way to make Zavier tell me. It couldn’t be that bad, really.

Running all the way back upstairs, I stopped right in front of his room. Rock music was playing in the background, as I heard a bunch of things being thrown across the room.

I was gonna knock, and I knew it might be locked, so I just got down on my knees, and dug my fingers in my hair, knowing well that a bobby pin was somewhere in there.

Once I found it, I grinned wickedly and started to pick the lock with it.

It clicked open within seconds, making me do a ‘happy dance’ mentally.

When I opened the door and stumbled inside, I saw Zavier with his whole shirt unbuttoned, making my legs buckle beneath me.

His gorgeous six-pack was clearly on display, while his skin had that amazing glow that only made his muscles ripple with each husky breath he took.

I wanted to run my fingers down that soft-looking torso, and, oh yes, also trace my tongue there. Damn, how could one little nerdy boy have those kinds of muscles?

And wait, what was that mark on the right side of his neck?

  Oh, hell no!

“What are you doing!?” he yelled, starting to button up his shirt again.

I couldn’t answer that question since I had my very own big question that really needed to be answered.

“Is that a hickey!?” Oh gosh. Who gave him that!? And why didn’t he tell me!?

Before I even blinked, he already had one of Stormy’s scarfs around his neck as he faked a very terrible laugh. “What? Pffft… you must really be seeing things now.”

Seriously? I was not blind! I saw it!

“No, come on, let me see!” I went over to him and tried to take the scarf off him, but he kept a strong grip on it.

“Really, i-it’s nothing. I was just vacuuming with my mini vacuum cleaner and it got to my neck.” I paused to raise my eyebrow at him. “What, it can happen!”

  Uh-huh…

“Zavier, come on!” I kept trying to pull the scarf off, making sure I wasn’t choking him in the process, though he held on to it.

We were having a tug-o'-war with the scarf when we somehow ended up stumbling to the ground, and I was now on top of Zavier, straddling him to check that damn neck of his. Really, how bad could it be!? He should be proud of himself for getting that. But my biggest question was, who exactly gave him that?

Distracted, I felt two large hands on my hips, making my whole body tingle with pleasure.

I was flipped over to the ground, with Zavier now on top of me, his body firmly pressed in between my legs.

  Oh… whoa!

We locked gazes as his hands gripped the carpeted floor right beneath us. His cheeks were turning to its adorable rosy color as his bottom lip quivered.

Trailing my hands up and down his sexy torso, I felt him shiver while looking down at my hands. I took advantage of that distraction to take the scarf right off.

I gasped at the sight of the huge hickey on the right side of his neck. “It is a hickey! Zavier!” I hugged him tightly, making him lose his balance, so we both just fell back to the ground.

Our bodies were way closer now, and I managed to flip us over so that I could be on top and straddle him again.

“Who gave you that!?” I asked, covering my mouth from excitement.

He tightly closed his eyes and covered his red face, mumbling something under his breath.

  “Sorry, what?”

He repeated it again, but this time – it was way quieter.

“Zavier!” I slapped his arm. But hey, with those muscles I’m sure he didn’t feel a thing considering he didn’t flinch at all from my rough touch.

“It was you! You gave me the hickey, okay!”

Those words made me freeze right in place. No… what? That couldn’t be.

“What…” I was lightly shaking my head while frowning down at him. But he was dead fucking serious, I could tell. My next question was how it happened. ‘Cause I think I would’ve remembered sucking some sexy skin like that. “How? What happened yesterday between us?”

I got off him and helped him sit up as I sat on my knees, waiting for him to explain everything.

“I, um… well…” He brought his hands up as if trying to explain a lesson like a teacher. But they were shaking as he frowned and slightly pouted, making me squirm at how adorable he looked.

Oh, just stop fucking fangirling, Evelyn!

  “See, we… well…”

I deeply sighed as he kept trying to figure out the right way to explain all of this.

After a few seconds, I finally burst out, “Just spit it out, Zavier!”

“All right, fine!” He took a deep breath and brought his knees up, resting his elbows on top of them. “You… took-some-drugs-so-you-didn’t-really-know-what-you-were-doing-so-we-sort-of-did-some-stuff.” He said that entire thing super-fast, I barely understood him. But it was a good thing I actually did.

  I
chuckled and put a strand of loose hair behind my ear. “Okay, what kind of stuff?”

“L-look Evelyn, you didn’t know what you were doing and I stopped us, s-so it’s all fine now, no need to retrace our footsteps.”

Realization hit me like a brick at his stumbling words.

“Did we…” I started, pointing at the both of us.

That caused his face to turn the deepest shade of red, and then he stood up. “No! God, no! Why would you even… no!” I stood up after him as he ran his fingers through his dark hair. Then he laughed, but it was obvious how nervous he actually was. “No… we didn’t. But there were some…” Cough, cough. “Touching… grabbing… pulling…” Cough, cough. “And slight kissing.”

  “So… we kissed?”

“Well, you asked me if you could kiss me.”

Damn, did I? I mentally cursed myself for not remembering that one.

  “And did we?”

  “Um, n-no, not really…”

“So I’m the one who kissed you on the neck? Did you try to stop me?” My voice was full of teasing, making him move his eyes around the room to look at anything but me.

  “Sort of… I just…”

I was mostly hoping I had turned him on. I was pretty grateful I did all of that in my drugged state, since I knew he needed a little action in his life.

I giggled at how Zavier seemed to be so uncomfortable. I slowly walked over to him while he stayed in place. I reached my arm out and played with his hair, feeling him tense up under my slightest gesture. I just hoped things would go back to normal after this. I wouldn't want him feeling awkward around me. Well, even more awkward than he already felt.

“Did you like it at all? I mean, what we did?” Oh sue me, but I freakin’ wanted to know how I actually made him feel.

“Hmph…” Zavier mumbled, swallowing a lump in his throat as he scratched his forehead, which was sort of glowing with a bit of sweat.

“Be honest. It’s okay. Did you enjoy it at all, teddy bear?” I trailed my index finger down his cheek, then down his firm chest, and finally to his six-pack.

Before it went farther down, he grabbed my wrist to stop me.

“Stop,” he managed to say, telling me that he was almost out of breath just by that gentle touch.

I smirked, knowing I was getting him all worked up. I knew my answer then.

Backing away, I just acted as normal as ever. “So, was I hard to handle while on drugs?”

“Yeah,” he said, starting to come back to normal. He straightened up, clearing his throat since his voice was still a bit strained. “I-it was hard putting you to bed, actually. It was getting dark and you were barely falling asleep,” he paused to chuckle, “and you even talked to my old football, claiming it was Arnold from Hey Arnold!”

I snorted a laugh at that. Oh gosh, I always did say embarrassing things when I was on drugs. I wonder what he told Stormy. Wait… shit!

“Where’s Stormy?” I asked, all of a sudden becoming very serious.

But Zavier just shrugged, not fazed at all by the mention of his mother, who was in charge of us both.

What the fuck!? How could he be so calm!? I must’ve gotten him in such huge trouble, that his punishment was to not go to school!

But what about my punishment? I was glad we didn’t go to school, man.

“She left early,” he quietly said. “Last night when she came home from work, I told her you were really tired, sick and needed lots of rest, which wasn’t a total lie. Luckily, you were already fast asleep in your own room by then. I didn’t tell her you took drugs, by the way,” he said, to reassure me before I went all ape shit.

I felt slightly guilty now. Zavier lied (well, sort of) to save my ass?

“I checked up a lot on you throughout the night. I wanted to make sure you were okay and that you weren’t dying on us when we just got you.” He chuckled. “Don’t think I'm trying to get rid of you, either.”

Dammit, why was he so sweet? I didn’t think I’d ever met someone so nice. It was rare. How could he be so sweet, even to those cruel people in this world? Must’ve been hard...

“Thanks, Zavier,” I honestly said. “You really didn’t have to do all that…”

“But we both know what would’ve happened to us if she actually were to find out.” He gave me a small smile, which almost looked like a smirk.

  Oh, how sexy.

Was he getting that from me so easily?

“Wait, school?” The perfect and smart good boy, Zavier Coin, was still skipping school. What was his little excuse?

He tightly closed his eyes as if he were ashamed himself. “You’re probably already a bad influence on me, but it’s fine. I got Mom to call and tell the school we both weren’t feeling too well. My voice shook a little, but she didn’t catch the lie. I got my assignments, too, and I already finished them before you woke up.”

The hell!? Did this kid have Google engraved into his freakin’ brain!?

  Now, that would be awesome.

  9: The Perfect Bad Boy

  •Evelyn•

“Who are you and what the hell have you done to my best friend?” Jesse immediately enquired, once Zavier and I had stepped out of the house on Thursday morning.

To say he was surprised was an understatement. He seemed a little pissed, as he stared Zavier down, almost as if he were a complete stranger.

Of course, since Zavier and I skipped school yesterday, he was shocked, so was Ethan. But hey, Jesse just seemed to be frankly expressing what he felt, and I respected that.

“Let’s just get to school,” Zavier said, shoving Jesse out of the way a little too hard that he stumbled back.

But knowing Jesse for only about two days, I already knew he wouldn’t let any of this go easily. So spreading his arm out, he put his hand firmly on Zavier’s shoulder. Zavier roughly shrugged it off and turned to look at his best friend with a hard glare.

Damn, that looked sexy on him! But he also looked about ready to kill his best friend, even though I knew he wouldn’t do that. Ever. No matter how badly he probably wanted to deep down.

But why would he be angry with Jesse? Because of his certain assumptions and accusations?

“Oh, so you can skip again?” Jesse asked, making Zavier roll his eyes up to the sky while letting out a deep breath. “Tell me, Zavier, how is it like living on the rebel side now, huh?” He crossed his arms over his chest to at least look a bit more serious while I frowned at his words. Did he mean ‘the dark side’ by ‘the rebel side’?

‘Cause let me tell you, there were no fucking cookies over here. We had to make them ourselves and they tasted like shit. Mostly since Ian ‘accidentally’ broke the eggs the wrong way, and what he put in wasn’t exactly sugar, so to speak.

“There are no rebels involved,” Zavier replied in a stern voice, passing his hand over his hair.

Jesse just raised his eyebrows, looking down at me as I fixed my shirt.

I wore a tight black tank top with some white shorts and a pair of old black Converse, with my hair up in a messy, but sexy, bun. Yeah, it was one of those days.

“Well, we have a rebel right here. Were you involved in this, Evelyn?” Jesse asked, with his eyes dead set on me while he pointed at Zavier, who seemed to be getting very impatient as he kicked the dirt under his feet.

I definitely didn’t miss the slight blush rising to his cheeks, possibly from remembering why exactly we had skipped school yesterday. Even though I didn’t remember it all, I knew how worked up it had gotten him.

I smirked at Jesse. “Maybe, maybe not.”

Obviously pressing the wrong buttons, he just let it go for now since we would be late if we didn’t hurry. But he warned me that he’d find out somehow, to which I mentally replied with a ‘good luck with that, buddy.’

While we walked toward the school entrance, Jesse stopped dead in his tracks, making both Zavier and I crash hard against his back.

But he didn’t seem fazed by it at all a
s he dug his hand inside his back pocket and took his phone out.

Zavier sighed and walked around him instead, starting to leave us behind, clearly in a bad mood. I mean, in the car, he just put his headphones on and looked out the window the whole time. I tried to talk to him or poke him to get his attention, but he just ignored me until I decided to give up.

Okay, I thought he was pissed at Jesse, but why me?

That’s right, being the selfish bitch that I was, I took drugs and he had to babysit me. Plus, he lied to his own mother, who was also supposed to be helping me. But he seemed pretty okay with it yesterday.

“Shit!” Jesse’s scream caused me to flinch, and I immediately became intrigued by his phone.

“What?” Ethan and I asked in unison, running over to check his phone that he still held close to his face with wide eyes.

Ethan grabbed the phone and put it in front of us so that we could all read it at the same time. But Jesse just covered his eyes, as if the text would burn his damn eyes if he looked at it a second time.

I was confused by the text though, which was saying something about a guy named Davne Conrad getting bailed out of juvie.

I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion, as Jesse and Ethan looked up in sync in Zavier’s direction. A few people around us also got texts, and they seemed equally surprised and shocked. I just didn’t know why exactly.

Zavier had already stopped dead in his tracks a few feet away, and when he turned around, we all noticed he had his phone clutched tightly to his right hand, staring down at it with wide eyes. His face was pale, and I swear he was about to faint right then and there.

My guess was correct, since Jesse and Ethan quickly bolted toward him and caught him when he had stumbled back.

He gulped, his Adam’s apple clearly showing, as he frantically looked around the parking lot.

“Dude, Zavier,” Jesse encouraged as Zavier began to cough and breathe rapidly. God, he was scaring even me. What the hell was going on? I blinked fast when Jesse brought his hand up and slapped Zavier across the face, causing his head to turn at a fast motion and almost fall in another direction. But Gladly, Ethan got a hold of him just in time. “Zavier! Calm down! It’s not like the guy’s after you already! We don’t know why he’s back yet!”
