  Parker looked back at Grams, who looked happier than he’d ever seen her, “And finally—and my grandson is most excited about this! We will be getting a beautiful, brand new dock!”

  “Woo-hoo!” Everyone started high-fiving and hugging each other.

  “Hey!” Frankie yelled out, “No more splinters in our asses!”

  They all burst into laughter and Grams shouted, “Another toast!” She raised her cup into the air, “To splinter-free asses!”

  Ethan, Zoe, Meredith, and Parker raised their drinks high inside their circle, “Hear! Hear!”
