There was a knock on my door and I panicked. I couldn't let anyone see me like this. I hid in my bathroom in hopes that whoever it was would go away. If it was him he wouldn't have knocked. They knocked again and began to bang on the door. Out of fear that my neighbors might call the police I quickly dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants. I kept my hair up in a towel. I looked through the peephole and saw Nikolay on the other side. No. No. No.
"Go away, please. I want to be alone." I tried to hide the fact the my voice was almost gone from all of the screaming.
"I have a key, Angelika. I could have just come in but I felt that I didn't deserve to after you just left. I didn't want to bother you or worry about you too much but you're phone's been off all night and morning. I need to see that you're okay. Please." I looked in the mirror that hung behind my couch and noticed that I had a cut on my cheek and hickies on my neck. I quickly took my hair out of the towel and pushed it to cover the marks on my neck.
"Fine." I slowly unlocked the door and opened it. He was truly a welcomed sight but only because I knew that it wasn't his father.
"Why did you run off? What did I say?" He pleaded as he tried to pull me into his arms. I took a step back and accidentally tripped over my shoes that were next to the door. My hair fell from where I had parted it to cover the marks and I knew that he had seen them when his eyes got big and he gasped.
"It's not what it looks like Niko, please." I pleaded and began to cry. I had never let myself lose control of my emotions. Especially around Nikolay considering his father had always put these marks on me.
"Then please explain to me why you have hickies all over your neck and the fact that I know I didn't put them there." He stood there just waiting. The door came open and in walked his father. No. This was only going to get worse.
"I see you found her. I told you that she would be here, Nikolay. She's a creature of habit, aren't you darling?" His smile was sickening. He held his hand out to help me and I was pretty sure Niko saw that I flinched. He tilted his head and his eyes narrowed. He knew something was off. I just hoped that he wasn't thinking that I allowed his father to willingly put those marks on me.
"Yes, I see that, Father. What're you doing here?" Nikolay turned to face him.
"Well, I just wanted to make sure she was alright as well. I didn't know that you were here, son." I got up carefully and felt sick to my stomach. I ran to my bathroom and heard someone following. I turned for a second to see that it was Niko. I was grateful that it was him. I then realized that I hadn't cleaned my room up since his father had done what he had done to me. I heard him slam the bedroom door behind me and grab my wrist. I flinched and gasped. I felt scared to death.
"What the fuck is this? You tell me that those hickies on your neck don't mean what I think they mean and then your bedroom looks like this?!" He screamed at me and pushed me to the floor. I cowered there and backed into the corner. A knock on the bedroom door sounded.
"Is everything okay in there?" It was him. Why couldn't this all be a terrible nightmare?
"We're talking. Just go home, father." Niko glared at me. "Who have you been fucking behind my back?!"
I retreated and felt myself shaking and closing my eyes.
"Answer me!" His voice sounded like his father's.
"No! Stop! Let go of me! Stop!" I felt the screams rise from my already sore throat. "Let go of me! Don't do this! Please! I won't do it again! I won't go there again! Please! Don't touch me! Don't! Stop!" I felt the tears fall from my eyes again. "Please! Don't do this!" I screamed again. I didn't feel the hands on my wrists anymore. Did he stop? Did he actually listen to me? "Thank you for stopping. Thank you for listening to me this time. Please let me go. Please let me go."
"What are you talking about?" I kept my eyes closed still.
"I won't go to her grave again, I promise. I learned my lesson. Please. Nikolay can't see me like this. He can't see me like this."
"Angelika?"
"NO! Don't call me that! That's not me! You created her! You created her when you took me from them! You use that for your friends and Nikolay. You gave me that name! That's not my name!" I felt so broken and shattered.
"Baby, what're you talking about?" I was brought back to reality. It was Nikolay standing in front of me. It was Nikolay not him. He knew everything. "I'm Nikolay. Who do you think I am?"
"Him. You sounded just like him." I noticed that the bedroom had slightly opened and I was now staring into his father's eyes. I felt paralyzed as Nikolay turned around and his father was staring at me.
