I pull her back to my chest and kiss her softly. “Let me show you all the ways our bodies can please each other, sweetheart. You’re coming home with me.”
“Okay. As long as there’s an escape route for me in the morning.”
I smack her ass again, this time harder, and when she yelps in surprise, I take her mouth again and don’t let up until I have to.
Chapter Nine
Kat
Braxton has my dress off before I can process what’s happening. He tosses me on the bed as though I’m a weightless doll before gripping my ankles and pulling my ass to the edge.
“Braxton!” I squeal, fisting the sheets for support.
He ignores me, widening my legs and then kneeling in front of me. The moment his tongue licks between my slit, I see stars and every part of my body buzzes with anticipation. The man has talent like I’ve never experienced, and if I never leave his bed again, I’d die a satisfied, happy woman.
Braxton’s magical mouth brings me over the edge once again. I’ve never orgasmed so many times in my life, and I’m left wondering how the hell he managed to work my body like a well-played violin.
“Goddamn, I could devour you all fuckin’ night long,” he finally says after twenty minutes of doing just that. He climbs up my body, feathering kisses along my skin. Braxton’s lips slide up my stomach, kissing between my breasts, then up my neck and finally to my mouth. “How do you manage to drive me so damn insane? I want to pound you hard and take things slow with you—all at the same time—because I don’t want this to ever end.”
“Wow...you have a charming way with words,” I tease, chuckling when he cups my breast and flicks my nipple. “I want to taste you now,” I boldly tell him. “Your turn to get on the bed.”
He leans down and pecks my lips quickly. “Yes, ma’am.”
His obedience makes me laugh as I climb on top of him so I can drag his jeans down his legs. I order him to remove his shirt, and when I finally get to the holy grail, I lower my mouth and suck him with everything I have. His moans and grunts encourage me, and I love how I’m the one making him crazy.
“Shit, Kat…” His hand fists my hair as he moves my head up and down on his hard length. “You feel fuckin’ amazing.”
I work him fast and hard, and just when I feel his body tighten, he pushes me away. His rapidly breathing has me making sure he’s not going to die on me.
“Bend over,” he demands.
I get on my knees, and when I feel him behind me, he pushes my thighs apart and eases inside me. My body shivers, and my fists grab the sheets as he thrusts into me over and over again, so deep and hard until he’s driving me over the edge.
The feelings I have for Braxton were unexpected, and I literally fought them every step of the way, but never again. I’ve never felt this way before, and by Braxton’s constant need to get under my skin and taunt the hell out of me, I know he feels the same. Every touch makes me feel like I’m the only woman in his world.
“Braxton…” I plead, wanting more. I don’t know how my body can even take anymore, but when it comes to him, it’s never enough.
“Yes, baby. Squeeze that cunt. I’m so fuckin’ close.”
His words encourage my body to unravel, and within seconds, he’s following behind, filling me deep and hard.
As we lie next to each other on the messed-up bed, our heavy breaths are the only sounds in the room. With sweaty and marked bodies, I find myself wanting to curl up against him and beg him to keep me.
“All it took was some crappy muffins and cow shit to get you into my bed,” he says, bursting into laughter as if he’s the only one who gets the joke. I snarl at him, not finding it funny, considering, but at least I no longer have a knee-jerk reaction to junk punch him.
“You really suck at this,” I tease, chuckling with him.
He rolls over and pulls me to his chest. “I want to take you out on a date. A real date.”
I laugh at the irony, considering we’ve skipped the whole dating aspect of a relationship and jumped back into bed together. “What’d you have in mind?”
"Don't worry. I'll come up with something amazing. It'll have your panties droppin'." He flashes me a wink, and I roll my eyes at his pathetic line.
“Okay, but let’s agree on one thing,” I counter. “No more pranks.”
His lips tilt up until he’s smiling ear to ear. “Then you might not want to open a package I had sent to your bakery. It’s a bomb of glitter dicks, and the second you pull it open, it’ll explode everywhere.”
My eyes go wide. “You didn’t.”
“It was an act of passion, I swear.” He holds up his hand as if he’s a Boy Scout.
“Okay, fair enough. Then you might not want to wear your work boots for a while.”
He gives me a shocked look. “You messed with my boots?”
I giggle. “It was an act of hatred, I swear.”
“That’s it, woman.” He rolls me over and climbs on top of me. “You’re gonna pay for that.”
And I happily do. All night long.
Chapter Ten
Braxton
Waking up with Kat in my arms is absolutely fucking magical. Pretty sure this woman has already roped my heart, and I don’t ever want it back; it’s hers. When she stirs, I place a gentle kiss on her lips.
“Don’t forget about our date later,” I remind her.
She pulls me closer. “I won’t. Seven o’clock sharp.”
Her sleepy haze sucks me in, and I groan against her mouth. “I have to go,” I tell her, frowning.
“No.”
I chuckle. “I’ll see you tonight. Don’t worry, I’ll miss you until then.” Wrapping my hand around her waist, I palm her ass and squeeze.
“Okay, that’s not helping.” She giggles. “You better leave before neither of us has the willpower to stop.”
Pressing my lips to hers once more, I smile at her sweetness. “Have a good day, baby.”
I slide out of bed and put on my clothes, then go straight to work. I have tomorrow off, and I can’t wait to spend the day with Kat.
We’ve seen each other a couple of times since I asked her out on a proper date, and I admit I’m falling for her hard and fast. She’s addicting as hell. After a few days of thinking what to do, I decided I wanted to make it super special and private for us. Instead of making her a fancy dinner like Colton and Jackson did when they were trying to swoon their women, I called her grandma Gigi and asked her to cook Kat’s favorite meal.
After I get off work and go home and shower, I pick up a dozen roses from the grocery store, then head over to Gigi’s. I have something super fun planned, and I hope she’s shocked as hell.
Gigi gives me containers of beef tips, gravy, and green beans. She even packed it all into a picnic basket. Before sending me on my way with kisses and hugs, she gives me a firm warning. “You be good to my granddaughter, you hear?”
“Yes ma’am,” I reassure her with a grin and a tilt of my cowboy hat before I get back into my truck. Gigi found out about me and Kat through Mila, who I swear has told the whole town. It’s only been a few days since Kat and I came to an understanding agreed to a truce. All she did was accede to a date, and I know it doesn’t mean I’m going to marry her...yet.
Kat has asked me several times what to wear, and I’ve only told her to dress in something comfortable as to not give away my plans. My nerves begin to get the best of me when I make my way down the road and park in front of her house. I can’t help the thoughts that wander as I sit and stare at her front door. Is she going out with me just to be nice because we’re physically attracted to either and have off the charts hot sex? Or is there something more between us? Even though I’m doubting myself, my heart already knows the answer to that.
I leave the picnic basket in the back of the truck, then knock on her door with the roses in my hand. When she answers, she’s wearing tight blue jeans that look as if they’re painted on and a cute sleeveless shirt that
shows off her cleavage. As my eyes gaze down her body, I see she’s even wearing a pair of cowboy boots.
“Damn girl,” I say, handing her the bouquet of roses. Kat grins and pops an eyebrow at me, almost as if she knows the effect she has on me. Turning, she takes the flowers into the house and arranges them in a vase of water.
“Thank you. These are beautiful,” she tells me, leaning over to smell them.
“Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady.” I smirk.
“You know I’m immune to that cowboy Casanova bullshit, right?”
I snicker because that’s what Jackson calls all the guys who have a little swagger.
“But are you really?” I lick my lips and watch her stare at my mouth. A grin touches my lips. “Didn’t think so.”
She rolls her eyes and groans. “Fine. Maybe I’m not completely immune.”
“That’s what I thought. You ready to go?” I ask, looking her up and down, memorizing every curve of her body.
“Am I dressed okay?” she asks.
“Might want to bring a jacket.”
Her eyes go wide. “A jacket?”
“Yes ma’am,” I tell her with a grin, and she goes to grab one. We head out the door and drive over to the Bishop ranch. She looks at me confused when we park in front of the B&B.
“Our date is here? I mean, I’m not complaining, but…”
I shake my head and chuckle. “I knew I shoulda blindfolded you.”
We get out of the truck, and I grab the picnic basket full of food from behind the driver's seat. When I come around to the front, Kat looks at me with wide eyes. “Why do you have Gigi’s picnic basket?”
“Woman...” I laugh, holding out my hand until she grabs it. We walk around the B&B and toward the shed where a four-wheeler is waiting. After cranking it, I latch the basket on the back rack, then climb on, gesturing for Kat to slip on behind me. As we cruise down the trails, she wraps her arms around my waist tightly, and I never want her to let me go. After we take the green trail to its end, we go off track a bit until we come upon a bonfire.
The four-wheeler slows, and when I turn it off, Kat laughs. “Pulling out all the stops, aren’t ya?” I hear the smile in her voice, so I know she likes it.
“Well, I was told this is the place to take pretty ladies,” I tell her, turning my head, feeling her breath brush against my face.
Kat hops off, and I grab our food. I had Colton help me get this all together because he couldn’t stop talking about how magical it was when he brought Presley here not too long ago. He willingly agreed to start the fire and set out a blanket with some wine.
Kat sits on the blanket, and I start pulling out containers from the basket.
“Braxton!” she squeals when she sees exactly what’s inside. “What? How? You got Gigi to cook my favorite!”
I nod, feeling pretty proud of how surprised and happy she is right now. We peel off the lids, and I hand her a fork. As she dives in, I open the wine and hand her a glass. With every bite she takes, she releases a small moan.
“You keep that up, and dinner’s gonna be over,” I warn with a cheeky grin.
She bites down on her lower lip, smirking. “Sorry. I haven’t had this in so long. It brings back a lot of good memories from growing up,” she admits before taking a sip of the wine. While we eat, we chat about living on the ranch and what it was like growing up in a small town, and once we’re done, I pack everything back up and attach it to the four-wheeler.
As we lie down, a brisk breeze brushes over us, and when Kat shivers, I add more wood to the fire and we move the blanket closer. We watch the flames lick the sky as we lie huddled close on the blanket. She leans up on her elbows and sips her wine, then looks over at me with a small smile playing on her lips.
“What?” I ask.
She shakes her head.
“Tell me.” I wrap my arm around her and pull her even closer, wrapping my leg around her waist.
“I was just thinking about everything. About us. How we managed to have dinner together without wanting to murder each other. Tonight has been amazing,” she admits, her brown hair blowing softly.
“I have a confession,” I say, wrapping a loose strand around her ear. “I knew the first time we spoke in that worn down bar that you were special, Kat. And I know I’ll be kicking my own ass if I let you walk away again. So, I have to know if you’re willing to give this a chance, give us a chance. If you have reservations, I’ll understand, but if you kick me out on my ass again, I’m not sure I’ll be able to get over it. I’ve not been able to get you out of my head and every—”
Her lips crash into mine, knocking my hat from my head. The next thing I know, Kat’s arms are around my neck, and she’s straddling my lap, the fire at her back. I instantly grow hard, wanting to feel her, needing her more than anything I’ve ever needed in my life.
When we finally pull apart with swollen lips, we’re completely breathless and happy. “So that’s a yes?”
She nods and runs her fingers through my hair before kissing me again. “Don’t make me regret it, cowboy.”
I flash her a wide grin and wink. “I won’t, Kat. I can promise you that.”
Chapter Eleven
Kat
Ever since Braxton begged me to go on an official date three months ago, everything’s changed. At first, I was hesitant, but continuing to ignore the way I felt about him was impossible. He laid his feelings on the table, and I agreed to take a chance on us to see where it led. And God am I glad I did. Everything he promised me that night under the stars…it took my breath away. He still takes my breath away.
Braxton treats me like a queen, and being with him sure as hell beats internet dating. I never did hear from Noah who stood me up at the bar, but I’m not even mad because he’s the reason I met Braxton. Perhaps I should find him and thank him. The thought has me laughing, but it was fate that brought us together that night.
He doesn’t compare to any guy I’ve ever been with before. The man ain’t afraid to put me in my place or call me out when I’m acting like a brat, but he’s also funny, tender, and caring. While he still makes fun of my gluten-free cookin’, he’s grown to love and enjoy most of it.
After spending time together every day for two months, it was becoming harder for us to leave each other. Though we took turns staying at his place or mine, I knew in my heart it was time to take our relationship to the next level. Since he was living at Jake’s house and paying rent, I found the courage to ask him to move in with me. Though I was nervous as hell, and thought he might think I was crazy or deny me, he immediately said yes without hesitation. It made me so damn happy that he was just as eager about it as I was. I know we’re moving fast, but when you know, you know, or at least that’s what Colton and Presley keep telling me. Considering those lovebirds fell head over heels for each other in two weeks, a couple of months didn’t seem so ridiculous.
My parents love him and so do I. As scary as it is to admit, I already find it hard to imagine my life without him. Sometimes, I can’t believe this is my life or he’s mine. If I weren’t so stubborn, this would’ve happened a lot sooner, but I don’t regret a thing.
“You awake, baby?” Braxton asks with a sleepy rasp in his voice.
“Mmmhmm.” I plop my leg over his as he pulls me closer. Waking up in his strong arms every morning has quickly become the highlight of my day.
“I gotta get to the ranch earlier than normal today. Don’t forget you have to make twelve dozen of those vanilla gluten-free cupcakes with sprinkles for Mama Bishop.”
My eyes pop open. “Shit!”
He chuckles. “I knew you were gonna forget.”
Turning my head, I glare at him. “She called me after I had already drunk two glasses of wine. Shoulda wrote it in Sharpie on my arm or something.”
As soon as I stand, Braxton pulls me back to him and softly brushes his lips against mine. I sink into him, wanting to spend all morning rolling in the sheets, but know we both h
ave to get going.
“You’ll make it happen.”
I smile. “And if not?”
“Mama Bishop,” he says. The woman is as fierce as fire, and no one in this town crosses her. She’s given me the opportunity of a lifetime by allowing the bakery to provide healthy options at the B&B. She could’ve easily had one of the cooks make them, but we’re practically family. And Mama loves her family.
“You’re right.” I lean over and smack one last kiss on his lips as I rush to get dressed. It’s nearly four thirty in the morning, and I need to bake my daily specials and the pickup orders as well as the buttload of cupcakes Mama Bishop ordered at the last minute. I think I might need to hire help.
We both chug coffee and exchange I love yous before we’re out the door going our separate ways. I rush to the bakery, knowing I have no extra time to spare today. If one thing goes wrong, my entire schedule will be off, which would fuck up everything.
The streetlights are still on when I arrive, and the sun hasn’t woken up. I walk inside, start turning on ovens, and pull the ingredients I need from the giant fridges. When I turn around, I see a little box sitting on the counter. I smirk and open it, seeing what I assume are supposed to be panties but looks like a string of floss. A sticky note in the bottom has me smiling wide as those butterflies appear low in my stomach.
These are for you, sweetheart. (The internet is a beautiful thing. )
I expect you to wear them so I can tear them off with my teeth later.
Love you forever,
Braxton
Even though we’re officially a couple now, the pranks haven’t stopped. They’ve just gotten...dirtier. I laugh, tucking them and the note into my pocket.
I look over my daily orders and add Mama Bishop’s to the list and get to work mixing the ingredients together for blueberry loaves, cupcakes, raisin cookies, and macaroons. Several mixers are going at the same time, and I pull the assortment of pans I’ll need from the cabinet and begin to prep them. After I pour the ingredients into their respective pans and slide them in the oven, then start on mixing together dairy-free butter, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and a few tablespoons of almond milk for my famous vanilla icing. It’s one of my favorite recipes, and Mama Bishop loves it as much as I do, so it didn’t surprise me in the least when she requested these.
