“So while I thank you for your concern, Mother, I think that there are other areas you could apply your expertise that do not involve my mate.”

Liula looked from Dex to Zoey. “I-I…” She paused. “I only sought to help you both.”

“I know,” Zoey said. “It’s why I haven’t told you to, well, get bent. But Dex is right. We could use your help in other places. I know I’m not the empress you wanted or expected. Or the mate you wanted for Dex. But I love him. I love our daughter and I’ll always do the best I can for our people.”

  “Fine then. I will go.”

She turned and left. Zoey bit her lip. “Do you think her feelings are hurt?”

Dex raised one eyebrow. “I am surprised you care.”

Zoey sighed. “I know she was only trying to help. Plus, she’s a great granny to Elodie. Isn’t she, baby?”

Elodie gurgled a reply. Zoey looked up at Dex. “That was so super hot.”

“It was?” he asked with surprise.

“Yeah, only thing is, she’s right. I probably should get some new clothes for these special guests of your mother’s. Who is it again?”

Dex frowned. “Some friends of hers from years ago. I would not concern yourself. They will spend most of their time with Mother. I expect their visit will be uneventful.”

“I’m still surprised how well she took the news that your cousins are alive. I can’t believe that all these years they thought your father ignored their distress call, when he never even received it. Have you gotten hold of them yet?”

Dex shook his head. “They have disappeared.”

“I suppose they will turn up when they want a mate.”

“Yes, and I guess I shall have to let them stay. I suppose I cannot stand between them and finding a mate. Even a human one.”

Zoey threw a cushion at him. He grabbed it, moving towards her. She squealed.

Let’s go. They do not need us now.

With a smile, Nassir slid out of the room behind Boris.

  “What shall we do?”

He turned with a grin. Oh, I have some idea.

He tugged her along with him and down the corridor. She kept her gaze down, ignoring the guards outside the royal chamber. Boris opened the door to their rooms and as soon as the door closed behind them, he was stripping her naked. She loved how much he wanted her.

But this time, she was taking control.

She wanted some of those payments.

  Game time.

He looked over at her in surprise as she reached for his clothes, pulling at them until he was naked. She loved it when he smiled. He didn’t smile often, even now, but when he did, her stomach would dance happily.

“This time you are going to owe me.”

He didn’t reply but the arrogant look on his face told her he did not believe she could make him call out.

“Sit on the edge of the bed.”

He was naked by now. He sat on the edge of the masic then held out his arm to her. She smiled and walked towards him, trying to sway her hips as she had seen some of the human females do. She was slowly gaining some much-needed weight, although she was probably never going to have curves like Zoey did.

But Boris did not seem to mind, not if the intent way he watched her was any indication. Hunger filled his face.

When she reached him, she quickly knelt and before he could catch on to what she was about to do, she took his shaft into her mouth. She sucked strongly and heard him shout.

Then she drew her way up slowly, licking at the velvet soft skin of his cock, delighting in the taste of him, slightly sweet, so delicious. When she reached the head of the shaft, she licked her way across it.

  Do you like that?

  What?

She smiled, revelling in her power over him. Then she took him deep once more.

  “Gods!”

  That’s one.

She repeated what she had done before, licking at him. Then sucking lightly on the fat head of his long cock.

  Take me deep again.

Oh no. She was in charge right now. Not him.

  Patience.

She cupped his balls in her hand, squeezing lightly.

“Nassir!” That rough-sounding voice, filled with such need, ramped up her own desire.

  That’s two.

  You are killing me.

She took him deep once more.

Ah, they do say revenge is sweet.

She stared up at him with a smile. He grinned back.

The sweetest. He cupped the side of her face. Remember that.

Remember it? I’m counting on it.

Then she took pity and sucked on him hard and fast until he shouted out her name again as he came in her mouth.

  That’s three…

  An Alien Holiday

  Sadie Carter

  Chapter One

“I got ninety-nine problems but an alien ain’t one,” Zoey sang cheerfully as she dragged articles of clothing from her wardrobe, throwing them in different directions behind her. “Ninety-nine problems but my alien ain’t oneeeee.” The last note was completely off-key as she moved like a whirlwind.

  “Zoey!” Willa called out. “Zoey!”

“What?” She turned to where Willa sat on a padded stool in the middle of the walk-in wardrobe. Well, that’s what Zoey called it. Really, it was just a storage room she’d commandeered for her clothes. “Why are you wearing my pants on your head?”

“Umm, because I thought I’d try a new style. What? Don’t you think it will catch on?”

Zoey snorted and pulled the pants off Willa’s head.

“You nearly buried me alive,” Willa told her, picking a white shirt off the floor and folding it.

“Most of its cotton,” Zoey told her with a wave of her hand. “It breathes.”

“But would I be able to breathe under the avalanche of tops, pants, and dresses? Seriously, do you even wear all of this stuff?”

“Do you know how often Elodie spits up on me in one day?” Zoey countered. “I change my clothes at least five times a day. An Empress can’t be seen with baby spit on her clothes. An Empress must be composed at all times. An Empress must set a high standard that others will aspire to.”

“Liula’s been to visit?” Willa asked dryly.

“How did you guess?” Zoey gave her a bright smile. “That woman should be used as a form of torture. Get her down in the dungeons with the prisoners for half a day, and they’ll be scared straight for life.”

“Only problem is Zerconia doesn’t have dungeons or prisoners.”

“Even better,” Zoey said. “Send her to someone else’s prison. Preferably a planet that is far, far away.”

“But Elodie would miss her Granny.”

“I suppose,” Zoey agreed reluctantly. “That woman’s only redeeming feature is how much she loves Elodie.”

“How did you convince Dex not to let her come with you to Ulrika to care for Elodie?” Willa asked, folding another shirt.

“It was simple. I told him that this is a romantic holiday and having my mother-in-law along would not be romantic at all.” It might seem weird to bring your baby away on a romantic weekend, but Zoey couldn’t leave her behind.

  “Uh-huh,” Willa said skeptically.

Zoey sent her a wicked grin. “I also told him that there was no way I would feel comfortable getting down and dirty with him while my mother-in-law was in the next bedroom.”

Willa laughed. “What did he say?”

“He asked if I was planning on not cleaning myself while we were away and was that considered romantic?”

  “Oh God, that’s too funny.”

Zoey wrinkled her nose then grinned. “Yeah, it was. These Zerconian warriors have no clue about romance. Honestly, I’ve practically had to hold a blaster to Dex’s head to get him to go away for the weekend with me. I still don’t think he gets it, he’s just doing it to humor me.”

  “Because he loves you.”

“Yeah. The big sucker. Didn’t quite get what he bargained for when he got me for a mate.” When they’d mated, both of Dex’s parents had been alive, so becoming Empress had seemed like something that would be in the far distant future.

Then Dex’s father died, Dex became Emperor, and she was thrown into this role she felt totally unprepared for. She was just a small-town girl with a love of old movies and a weird sense of humor. Sometimes she still wasn’t sure how she’d ended up with a huge hunk of spunk as a mate, a beautiful baby girl, and some amazing friends. Sure, some of her duties as Empress might be akin to getting her teeth pulled, and she didn’t see Dex as much as she might like, but she wouldn’t change any of it.

Still, the not seeing Dex much part kind of sucked, so after what seemed like months of begging, which in reality was just a few days, she’d managed to talk him into a weekend away. Just the two of them. Well, and Elodie, her minder, Rastian, Giz, Zoey’s furry companion, Boris, her bodyguard, plus another bodyguard for Dex.

But that seemed nothing compared to living in a huge palace and being surrounded by people day-in, day-out.

“Well, I’m glad these guys aren’t romantic. I wouldn’t know what to do with a romantic Darac,” Willa told her.

“That’s one thing I don’t think you have to worry about,” Zoey told her. “I gave him some flowers to give to you on your birthday last week.”

“Oh, so that’s where he got them from. He came home with a funny look on his face and thrust them at me, saying, ‘here are some dead plants for you’.” They looked at each other then giggled.

“You’re not taking all this with you, are you?” Willa gestured around at the piles of clothes on the floor.

“No.” Zoey pointed to the biggest pile. “I’m just taking these.”

“Just? Zoey, this is more than I’m taking with me when we leave.”

  “I wish you weren’t going.”

Willa looked up at her. “I know. But we’ll be back. And if there’s a chance that Lucy can track Lochlan down then we have to take it. I never dreamed he could still be alive. We have to try to find him.”

“I’d feel the same way. And if anyone can find him, Lucy can.” Lucy could track people through objects. Everyone, except Rye, Willa’s oldest brother, had believed Lochlan was dead. Now that they knew he was alive, they had to try and find him.

“I just wish you weren’t all going. It’ll be just me and Mila again.”

“Plus all the other human women invading the place.”

Zoey sniffed. “Yeah, you’re right. Guess it shouldn’t be too hard to replace you, Lucy and Elika.” Elika was Rye’s mate.

Willa picked up a shoe and threw it at her.

“Ow.” Zoey rubbed her shoulder. “You know that it’s a punishable offense to strike the Empress. I think it’s fifty lashes or something.”

“Unless she’s being a bitch, then you get a free pass.”

Zoey moved towards her friend and hugged her hard. “You always get a free pass.”

Willa laughed. “I’ll remember you said that.”

  Chapter Two

“Seriously, Dex, this is supposed to be a romantic getaway for the two of us.” She held up two fingers. “See, two. One. Two.”

Dex turned to look down at his mate in confusion as she frowned at the people loading the spaceship they would be using to travel to Ulrika. It was a small planet with beautiful scenery. The inhabitants of Ulrika were welcoming and peaceful.

They had requested a villa next to the lake in a secluded setting. Or that was what Zoey had told him. How had Zoey described it? Oh yes. Romantic and tranquil. He still did not understand the point of a romantic weekend, but if it put a large smile on his mate’s face, then he was willing to go along with it.

His mate also told him romantic weekends away meant more time for joining. That was never a bad thing.

So her frown now had him perplexed.

“There is not just the two of us.”

“Yes, that’s my point.” She glanced around her with an unhappy frown. “Are all these people coming with us?”

“No, of course not.” That was the issue? The number of people coming with them? He knew that Zoey did not wish his mother to join them to care for Elodie. He did not quite understand the issue of having his mother close. They already lived together in the palace. But Zoey had been adamant that you did not take your mother on a romantic weekend.

It was strange. But then these humans held many strange beliefs he did not understand.

“Oh good,” she replied, the tension slumping from her shoulders.

Dex smiled, glad that he was able to settle her worries. He knew that Zoey had found the adjustment to becoming an Empress a challenge. Combined with being a new mother, still adapting to life on Zerconia and rising tensions between the Zerconians and Coizils, this had not been an easy time for her. It was why he had agreed to this weekend away. His family was everything to him. He might be responsible for the safety of thousands, but it was the safety and happiness of just two that came first.

“Only Boris, Rastian, Macon, Jaxan, Racar, Safan and Torex are coming.”

She blinked up at him, those beautiful green eyes widening. “All? Dex, are you kidding me?”

“I am not. Why would I kid you about this?” He was confused.

She wiped her hand over her face, muttering something under her breath. He caught some words, but they made little sense.

“Dense…. dumbass…. romantic weekend…. fishbowl.” Finally, she looked up at him.

“Are you well, my own?” he asked with concern, watching a muscle tick beside her right eye. Her face had turned an unusual shade of red with splotches of white. “Perhaps we should not go. Do you need medical support?”

She grabbed his arm as he reached for his communicator. “I don’t need medical support, but you might.” She took a deep breath in then let it out slowly.

It’s not his fault. He’s not purposely being dense. Don’t lose your temper. Be cool. Be queenly. Be calm. Handle this like an Empress. Mature. Calm. Collected.

“God damn it, Dex!” She told him, throwing her arms up in the air. Urgh, screw being dignified and all that shit. “We can’t take all these people with us!”

He looked from her to the spaceship. “The ship can handle twice as many bodies.”

“This isn’t about the ship's capacity, it’s about privacy. What’s the point of going away if we’re going to take half the palace with us?”

“Zoey did you not hear me, we are only taking Boris, Macon—”

She placed her hand over his mouth. “I heard you the first time. Next, you’ll be telling me that you’re taking your new assistant as well.”

He raised his eyebrows. “I did hope you would not mind, but I was not certain after your reaction to my suggestion of taking my mother.”

“Dex! Damn it. No. Your assistant cannot come. Neither can half these people.”

  He scowled. “They are necessary.”

“Necessary? Where are they even going to sleep? Gonna be kind of hard to be romantic with Macon, Jaxan, and Racar sleeping in the same bed with us.”

“They will not sleep with us!” He looked at her aghast. Zoey knew she wasn’t explaining this very well. This was a weird concept for him. Zerconians didn’t take holidays, let alone romantic trips away with their mates.

“Look, I get that we need some guards, but do we need so many? I only rented a three-b
edroom place.”

“Yes, we do. Although Ulrika is a safe place, there are still dangers. There is not just your safety to consider, but Elodie’s as well.”

And Dex was nothing if not protective. It was actually something she liked about the big dude, even if it did drive her absolutely nuts sometimes. But he was right, Elodie’s safety came first.

She touched his arm, leaning into him. “It’s okay, big guy. We’ll take them all.” The last thing she wanted was to stress him out. “I’d just built this idea into my head of how this weekend was going to go. I know we need to be careful and I don’t want any of us to be at risk. So take as many guards as you like, we’ll work it out. But no work stuff.”

“The guards will stay out of the way. They can remain outside.”

She was surprised at his compromise. Dex wasn’t the most bendable of men. Although now she felt guilty at the thought of the guards having to stay outside. “But where will they sleep?”

“They can take turns using one of the bedrooms. I wish this weekend to be what you wish it to be.”

“Aww.” She swung her arms around him, not caring who was looking. These Zerconians weren’t big on public displays of affection and Liula would have a fit if she saw her, but Zoey didn’t care.

“Sometimes you say just the right thing to turn my insides to mush.”

He frowned. “Is that healthy? Is it something you need medical assistance with?”

She opened her mouth to explain what she’d meant when he winked at her. Zoey’s eyes widened in surprise. “You’re teasing me. Look at you.” She gave him a whack on his arm, nearly wincing as her hand immediately began to sting. It was like hitting a brick wall. He took her hand with a frown of disapproval and rubbed the sting from it. “Being around all these humans must be a good thing, you’re actually starting to understand me.”

“My own, I love you, but I think it will take a lifetime to understand everything you say. I only understood that because Koran had a panic attack when Mila told him something similar a few weeks ago. He had called Thor to examine her before she could fully explain.”
