Much to her delight, Blake clearly didn’t want to wait . He did tease her a little bit more, mouth hot against Thea’s inner thighs. Then he licked between her legs. It sent a hot tide of pleasure shooting up through Thea’s body. She cried out. Blake’s tongue felt so good, licking against Thea faster.

All of her nerve-endings seemed to respond. Thea’s cries increased. Blake moved an arm under Thea’s ass so he could pull her closer against his mouth. His tongue felt like magic as it teased inside her and then back out. All Thea could do was grip the sheets tightly and rock against Blake’s mouth, crying out encouragingly.

Blake responded eagerly, humming against her in a way that sent vibrations dancing through Thea’s veins. Her thighs clamped around him, the stubble of his cheeks scratching at her sensitive skin. He licked harder and faster, making pleasure coil low in her belly.

The fingers of one hand were still soft against Thea’s inner thigh while the other spanned Thea’s hip, pressing her down against the mattress. Thea bucked, overcome by how good it felt.

Her chest heaved. She lifted her hand to Blake’s shoulder, clutching hard. “Please,” she whimpered. “I’m so close.”

Blake didn’t disappoint, lapping against her more. The tip of his tongue pressed against her hard and the edge of Thea’s pleasure came ever closer. Finally, it seemed to wash over her, making Thea’s hips buck upwards. Blake’s hand held her down, making sure he licked his way through her orgasm. The sounds falling from Thea’s lips seemed to get louder and louder until she couldn’t take it anymore.

With a hand against Blake’s shoulder, she pushed him back, relaxing into the mattress with a deep sigh. Blake kissed his way back up Thea’s body. He smiled at her when he reached her mouth. She could feel that smile on Blake’s lips as he kissed her.

“You’re gorgeous, Thea,” Blake breathed when he pulled back. “And you sound so good.”

Thea smiled at the compliment. She reached out to run a soft hand up over Blake’s neck, brushing up into his hair. “You feel so good,” she returned playfully. “But I want to make you feel even better.”

She kissed down from Blake’s lips, her mouth hot against his neck. Her hands explored slowly down the planes of his back until they reached his perfect, pert ass. Sliding one hand under his boxers, she squeezed hard. She loved the way it made Blake rock his hard length against her core.

“I need these off,” she told him, slipping the material down as far as she could reach.

Blake gave a small laugh at that. He didn’t challenge Thea’s use of ‘need’. It did very much feel like a need. He pulled back to push his boxers down. Thea had to swallow a moan when she looked at him. With his clothes off, Blake looked even hotter, if that was possible.

Crawling back on top of Thea, Blake pressed a line of kisses against her stomach. He resettled against her. “Touch me?” Blake asked, sucking his lower lip between his teeth. When she did, he gave a groan. It thrilled Thea to know that she was causing him to make those sounds.

With a hand against Thea’s side, Blake pulled her in closer, thrusting his hips forward. He leaned down to capture her lips with his. The kiss was hot, hard but also just so good .

Finally, Thea did what she’d wanted to for so long now. She wrapped her legs around Blake’s hips, pulling him harder against her. With one hand behind her for balance, she pushed her chest up to meet his, breasts pressed against the hard muscle of Blake’s pecs. Her nipples, still sensitive from the teasing of Blake’s mouth, rubbed against his chest, sending tingles all the way down Thea’s spine.

“Blake!” she moaned. Her fingers tightened around him. She ached from how badly she wanted him. She leaned forward even more, running her tongue over the curve of Blake’s shoulder. “I want,” she breathed, her voice low and breathy. Thea couldn’t even be surprised at how needy she sounded. “I want to feel you inside me,” she carried on, loving the way it made Blake groan. “There’re condoms in the drawer,” she added.

There was very speedy ruffling on Blake’s part, showing Thea just how much he wanted to be inside her, too. “Okay,” he breathed once the condom was on and Blake was pressing against Thea again. He paused once more, leaning down to kiss her gently. Reaching between them, Thea led his cock between her legs, arching her back up to accommodate him better.

Blake was slow, almost so slow that she wanted to beg him for more. At the same time, he felt so good. Thea loved how her body adjusted around him, welcoming him in and making her moan.

When he began to move, that was slow, too. “Fuck, you feel great,” Blake told her. His lips crashed down against hers again. The kiss matched the speed with which he was moving - slow and tender .

It wasn’t like any sex Thea could ever remember having before. That just made it feel even more right . She wanted Blake to feel the way she felt. She wanted him overcome with tenderness that there wasn’t space for anything else. She ran her hands slowly down his back, urging him to press into her even deeper.

He did. Thea gasped as she tightened her legs around him. All she could feel was Blake, the smooth skin of his chest against hers, the strength of his muscles as he rocked his hips to fill her. She cried out, tipping her head back. Blake rewarded her with more kisses, hot against her throat.

Thea rolled her hips, pushing herself up to meet Blake’s thrusts. She didn’t speed up, letting the pleasure build slowly between them. When she kissed Blake again, she sucked gently at his lower lip, swallowing up every noise he made.

Blake began to move faster, but it was still gentle. Thea felt the way pleasure built inside her, like a slow wave coming into shore. Blake’s hand was steady against Thea’s ass. He pulled her up even more. His body was so strong. Thea loved how she could hold onto it. With his hips moving faster and faster, Thea’s orgasm was approaching quickly.

The bed swayed beneath them, making Thea cling to Blake even more. The two of them were the only things in the universe, as far as Thea was concerned. She never wanted to let go. “Yes!” she urged, as Blake moved faster still. “Yes, Blake, don’t stop!”

He didn’t. Thea’s pleasure rose higher and higher. When Blake’s mouth dropped to her nipple, sucking it tenderly and swirling his tongue around it, Thea couldn’t hold back. She screamed as her orgasm crashed over her, just as Blake had wanted. He muffled the noise with a kiss, his lips so warm and soft and perfect.

Her whole body tingled, ripples of pleasure making her shiver under Blake’s body. Thea didn’t stop. If anything, she lifted her hips harder. “Come on,” she urged. “I want to make you feel that good.”

That seemed to be plenty of encouragement. Blake pushed forward once, twice. Thea felt him come. His muscles contracted so beautifully under her hands. Blake sounded amazing. There was a stillness just after, before Blake shifted to move off her so he wouldn’t squish her. Thea’s whole body tingled with how good it felt. After a small moment of rustling to get rid of the condom, Blake pulled her in close against him.

He pressed a soft kiss against Thea’s shoulder before turning on his side so they could both look at each other. There was a smile playing on Blake’s lips, one that made his cheeks dimple in a way Thea could no longer resist. She reached out to brush her finger over the dimple, making Blake chuckle.

“You still want me to go?” he asked. Thea could easily tell the teasing in Blake’s tone. He knew she had no desire for him to go anywhere.

“Don’t you dare,” she shot back. She tangled her legs between his as if that could seriously trap him there. Feeling the muscles in Blake’s thick thighs, Thea knew he could escape with little effort. She trusted that he had no reason to want to run off.

Sitting up slightly, Thea ran a hand down her own leg, fingers hooking under the plaster that covered her soulmark. “Do you want to see?” she asked. Blake had obviously believed her when she’d said her mark read ‘Frederick’. It felt right to offer to show him. There wouldn’t be any secrets between them.

  She saw him h
esitate, like he wasn’t quite sure. It made her frown. Did he not want to see her soulmark? Blake seemed to catch the frown. He shifted in closer, running his nose over Thea’s arm gently before leaving a soft kiss there.

“I never imagined I’d see my own name written on someone’s skin,” he admitted. Then he gave a small snort. “Well, my given name. I guess I really won’t see ‘Blake’ written on someone’s skin, but...” He paused, almost as if he considered what that would mean.

“Yeah, I’d like to see it,” he told Thea with a smile. “I showed you mine, it’s only fair you show me yours.” His tone was teasing. He reached down to brush his fingers over Thea’s as they tugged against the sticker.

It peeled back easily, the letters of the word ‘Frederick’ dark and neat against Thea’s skin. She brushed a finger over it, imagining she could feel a warmth that had never been there before. When Blake’s fingers trailed over it, Thea bit down on her lower lip at how good it felt.

“I never imagined I’d meet a Frederick I actually liked,” she admitted, with a slight smirk. “I guess since you don’t use Frederick, I kind of haven’t.” She leaned in, capturing Blake’s lips with her own. “I like ‘Blake’ better, anyway,” she promised honestly.

Her heart felt so full. She pulled back to just drink in Blake’s handsome face above her.

Blake leaned in to kiss her again. His lips were soft but so hot as he licked his way into Thea’s mouth. When he pulled back she felt breathless. From the way Blake’s breath caught, so did he. “I’ve got an afternoon skate today, but this evening, can I take you out for dinner?” Blake asked. He followed that with a grin. “Somewhere cheap where they have no customer service skills.”

Thea gave a delighted laugh. A warmth settled in her, just at the fact that Blake remembered , let alone that he’d be willing to vary his usual dating routine to take her somewhat that she’d like.

“You can,” Thea agreed. “Our first date.” The thought made her laugh again. Although it didn’t feel like their first date, Thea was sure it would still be special.

As she turned, letting Blake wrap one arm around her, Thea couldn’t help but think about how quickly things had changed. She’d been so miserable. Now she felt so happy. She didn’t believe it was just because Blake was her soulmate. Knowing that he was still settled a warmth inside her.

She’d always dreamed of running away with the love of her life, no matter who he was. As a child, the idea of abandoning everything for true love had seemed romantic.

Now that Thea was an adult, she actually liked the life she’d built for herself. It felt even better to know that Blake could be part of it. Neither of them needed to run anywhere. Even Thea’s parents would accept Blake as a suitable match. It was a thought that uncurled an unexpected tendril of satisfaction somewhere around Thea’s heart.

She pressed a hand against Blake’s chest, feeling his heart beating against his ribs. Happiness filled her so completely, Thea couldn’t speak.

Instead, she pulled Blake’s head down to hers, kissing him with all the feelings that she couldn’t put into words.

Afternoon training was still a few hours off, Blake didn’t need to leave immediately …

  Chapter Twelve

A week after Blake and Thea had found out they were each other’s soulmates, the team gathered for Nilssy’s retirement party. It was weird to be celebrating Nilssy leaving the team. It helped knowing that it was what he wanted. Evie had set up a great party in their house. There were seemingly endless balloons, alcohol and finger snacks. The house was buzzing, people mingling and chatting with each other.

Blake had lost Thea to the crowds. He was pretty sure he’d find her beating his teammates at video games. Thea was very good at that. The guys seemed to love the challenge - not that that was very surprising. Professional athletes did tend to love a challenge.

After having complimented Evie on her excellent party-throwing skills, Blake had gone off to get himself some of the food. He was half-way through piling a plate full of little snacks when he bumped into Doe.

“Oh, hey,” Blake greeted with a smile. He had seen Doe since their break-up of sorts, but they hadn’t really talked .

“Hi,” Doe said, before laughing when Blake didn’t follow it up with anything. “Are you being awkward?” she asked teasingly. It was such a relaxed question that it made Blake laugh.

“Yeah, a little bit,” he admitted. Blake didn’t have a lot of experience with this sort of thing. Usually, when he stopped dating someone he didn’t see them again. With him now seeing Thea and Doe now dating Remy, they were going to see each other quite a bit. “Sorry, I don’t mean to make things uncomfortable,” he added apologetically.

“It’s alright, I get it,” Doe promised. “You don’t have to be awkward. I think we’ve both done pretty well out of our break-up,” she teased. Blake could hardly deny that. In the week he’d spent dating Thea, Blake had been... It felt a little unfair to say happier than he’d been with Doe but Blake was .

Doe, to her credit, seemed to be able to read Blake’s mind. “I know it wasn’t the most convenient way to meet our soulmates, but it’s definitely worked out. Remy’s great. I know you make Thea super happy because she looks super happy.” That made Blake smile. He liked the idea of being a reason Thea looked happy.

“She makes me happy, too,” Blake said. It was certainly true . Even his teammates had commented on how Blake looked all loved up.

“You definitely look it,” Doe laughed. “Oh, speaking of,” she said. Blake turned to where she was looking, cheeks dimpling in a smile when he saw Thea approach.

“Hey, you,” Blake greeted, stopping just short of pulling her into a kiss. He didn’t know if that would be awkward.

Thea grinned. It made Blake’s heart skip a beat in his chest. “Hey to you both,” she said. If she felt any awkwardness, Blake couldn’t hear it in her voice. She stood close to him. Blake could detect the now-familiar scent of her perfume. It was amazing how quickly and how easily Thea seemed to fit into his life.

Stealing a dainty pastry from Blake’s plate, Thea popped it into her mouth. She chewed thoughtfully, then brushed her lips with the back of her hand. “Were you looking for me?” she asked. “Ricky and I were showing Connor who’s boss in Mario Kart .”

“No,” Blake answered honestly. “I pretty much assumed that’s where you were. I chatted to Evie. And now Doe,” he said, giving Doe a smile.

“Yes,” Doe nodded. “Blake was just telling me how awkward it is to talk to me now that we’ve broken up and the two of you are dating.” There was a definite amusement in Doe’s voice at that. Blake gave her a look. It wasn’t his fault that the whole situation was kind of awkward. Though, apparently neither Doe nor Thea thought so.

“I can’t help it,” Blake sighed dramatically. “It’s just... kind of weird, isn’t it? Who would’ve expected there to be two Dorothies neither of whom goes by ‘Dorothy’ and two Blakes one of whom doesn’t go by ‘Blake’ and the other one not actually being a ‘Blake’?” He felt that was a fair point. As far as misunderstandings went, this was a pretty weird one.

Thea tucked her hand through Blake’s arm, giving it a small squeeze. “It is weird,” she agreed, looking up at him before she glanced at Doe. “Weird doesn’t have to mean awkward.” Blake couldn’t help but feel she and Doe had the advantage, having known each other for as long as they had.

“Besides, think about how much more awkward it would’ve been if Remy were called Remy, or you were really Blake,” Thea added. “I think us both being Dorothies and you two not both being Blakes is the best outcome.”

She smiled at Doe. “At least, as long as you’re sure it’s not weird for you to see us together,” she added, a question in her tone.

Blake chewed on his lip a little at that. It would be pretty terrible to now find out that Doe did mind. She had been the one to tell Blake to try again with Thea. She had even been the one to tell Blake Thea was home tha
t day he’d come to see her. But it had been a week and maybe...

“I’m sure,” Doe said pulling Blake back from the spiral of thoughts he’d headed down. Doe’s smile was wide and genuine. “It’s not like either of you think it’s weird for me and Remy to go out,” she pointed out. That was true. Blake was mostly just very pleased for them. Now that he no longer was dating Doe, he could see how perfect they were for each other.

Thea nodded. She went up on her tiptoes to press a kiss against Blake’s cheek. He appreciated the gesture. Doe genuinely didn’t seem to even think anything of it, let alone mind . Hopefully, it would feel more and more normal. Blake knew things between him and Thea were still new, even if it didn’t feel that way.

“Come on,” Thea said, tugging Blake towards the living room. “I think Evie wants to make a speech or something.” She glanced at Doe. “You too,” she insisted. “Remy’s definitely bored of watching video games.”

That made Doe laugh and Blake smile. This was... nice. It wasn’t something Blake had anticipated. When he’d been dating Doe and trying so hard not to have feelings for Thea, something like this - an easy companionship - had seemed so far removed from what he could have.

And yet, here they were now. Thea on Blake’s arm and Doe happy. Blake watched as she walked over to Remy, linking their hands together. They were such a good match. Blake really had to kick himself for not seeing it sooner. It made him wonder if he and Thea looked like a good match too. He thought they did. Maybe that was what mattered more than anything else.

“Come back to mine after this?” Blake asked, glancing down at Thea. When she smiled at him, nodding, he smiled back. Blake was sure his cheeks were going to start hurting soon from all the smiling he did.

It was hard to be sorry about that.

It was novel to have someone come home with him after a team party. Before, when Blake had dated women, it had never been serious enough that he’d bother inviting them to team stuff. Thea was definitely different. In the past, Blake hadn’t cared if he had a date or not. Having Thea there was... pretty great.
