With one hard tug, he yanks my body to the edge of the bed, his own leaning over to capture my mouth in a soul-searing kiss, his tongue conquering mine, his teeth nipping at me playfully. But then his hands fist my hips, his mouth pulling away just as he flips me over and lifts my ass up so that my knees crush down against the mattress, his large hands claiming mine and directing them to lay flat on the bed.
Hot breath cascades down my neck after he sweeps my hair aside to whisper against my ear.
“You were right.”
His body presses over mine, the line of his cock pushing along the slit of my ass. When he moves just an inch, a jolt of need tears through me.
“About?” I ask, my voice desperate and breathless, my lips parting when he fists his cock and angles it down to tease the wet flesh of my pussy.
“I do like your hips,” he says, one hand taking firm possession. “But I like your cunt better.”
He thrusts inside me, one long, slow plunge that fills me completely, stretches me wide, my legs falling open more, my back arching like a cat. Gabriel’s hand fists my hair again and drags my body up, his other hand squeezing my breast, thumb and finger pinching the nipple.
His hips move, and his cock pulls out to the tip just to thrust inside me again. And I’m lost to it. Lost to him. Fucking gasping and moaning, writhing and begging. My body trembles when his teeth bite down on the soft spot at my shoulder and neck.
I’m claimed.
His.
I’m owned by the liar.
By Fraud.
By the broken prince.
He laughs softly against my ear, his body still dominating mine, my pussy clenching down with the need for something harder, faster, deeper until I come.
“I’ve always liked your mouth, too. Especially when you’re saying something that pisses me off. Those sassy fucking lips are mine as well.”
He turns my head just enough that he can kiss me, and my body explodes over his cock, every muscle taut, every sensation sending another wave of pleasure rolling through me until I’m saying his name like a prayer, and he’s swallowing the sound.
I know just when he’s about to find his own release. His cock swells, and his hips move faster. He’s driving himself deeper, his body so damn hard that it’s almost painful to take all of him.
Before he can climax and pull out, I reach behind to grab his legs, panic in his voice when he says, “I’m about to come.”
My lips curl at that. “I’m on the pill.”
Gabriel stills and growls, “Fuck...now you tell me.”
He shoves me down and grips my hips, our bodies slapping together with the wet sound of skin and then his cock jerks as he comes inside me, every pulse of it hot and hard.
After finishing, he pulls me up with gentle hands, his palm cupping my cheek as he kisses me.
“Thank you,” he whispers against my mouth, pure truth in his voice.
“For?”
Green eyes lock to mine, his answer tearing my heart apart and stitching it back together.
“Never letting go.”
Gabriel
I check my watch for the third time this morning, wondering what the hell is taking Tanner so damn long.
Beside me, the motor to our private elevator is quiet, the numbers unlit as the car waits on the bottom floor for him to arrive and get the fuck up here.
We have a big money meeting in an hour, and before that, I have to give him news that will make his head explode. But it is what it is. He’s had this coming.
Tanner and his tyrannical attitude problem have finally pushed it to a point where the inevitable had to happen.
Finally, I hear the elevator come to life, my eyes watching the red numbers move slowly up the line until a ding above my head signals his arrival, the doors sliding open with a smooth motion.
His dark hair is styled back, and his expensive suit is tailored to perfection. Lifting his eyes from whatever he’s reading on his phone, his brows tug together in confusion.
“Where’s Lacey?”
That’s exactly what I’m standing here to tell him.
“She quit.”
A bark of laughter bursts from his throat. “No. She didn’t quit. Lacey can’t quit. We pay her too damn much.”
Immediately, he starts tapping out a text on his phone, but I lay a hand over it, stopping him.
“Which is exactly why she could quit. We’ve paid that woman more than the associate attorneys, and she’s saved up a nice nest egg to fall back on. After her vacation, she sent me her resignation and said that the time off gave her a moment to think about her life. She’s done, Tanner.”
His jaw tics, and he shifts his posture. Rage simmers behind his eyes, his nostrils flaring just before he stabs a finger at my face.
“And this is exactly why I said no vacations! See what you did? You gave her time to evaluate her life and realize I’m a fucking asshole.”
“She didn’t need time to figure that out. It’s not like it’s a secret.”
“Fuck off, Gabe.”
He storms past me en route to his office, his voice booming through the small hall. “Now what the hell am I going to do? Who the fuck is going to fill her place?”
“Calm down, I already hired someone as your new assistant. She’s in her office filling out the paperwork now.”
With a roll of my eyes, I follow him into his office and take my usual seat in a chair opposite him. Tanner tosses his bag on a small table before storming to his desk and dropping his weight onto the chair.
For several silent seconds, we stare across the expanse at each other.
“Who the hell did you hire?”
My lips tilt into a frown.
“Well, that’s the thing. Unfortunately, you have a reputation among legal professionals, so I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find someone willing to work for you, but Alice is a nice woman, and she’s eager to learn, so I’m sure she’s trainable. It just might take a little while.”
His stare pins me in place, a muscle jumping at his temple.
Only seconds later, a high-pitched voice sounds behind me, the deep Southern accent of Tanner’s new assistant reminding me of Luca when she can’t disguise where she’s from.
“Well, good morning, Mr. Caine. I’m happy to see you finally arrived at work. I mean, you are a little late, but I can forgive you for it.”
Tanner’s eye twitches, his gaze sliding past me to watch Alice waltz into the room.
“I’m a fucking partner. I own this place, in case you happened to miss my name on the fucking door when you walked in this morning. I show up when I want.”
“Language,” she admonishes with a singsong voice. I bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing when his brows crash together.
“My mother would have washed my mouth out with soap for saying that, and maybe I should bring some into the office to teach you the same lesson.”
“The fuck?” Tanner’s brows shoot up his head.
I cover my mouth with a fist, my eyes closing and opening again as I sit as still as possible.
Alice doesn’t react to the outburst, she merely walks deeper into the office, a plate in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.
“One of the other girls told me that you prefer coffee alone for breakfast, but where I’m from, that’s a guarantee of having an empty belly and a foul attitude. I plan to fix that, so I brought you some poached eggs to get the brain working. I hope you like them.”
Tanner’s eyes are round as saucers, his furious stare locked on his new assistant.
“But don’t you worry,” she says, unconcerned with the murderous look she’s getting, “I promised everybody in the office that I would fix you up within a few weeks. Teach you a lesson about why not to be such a grumpy jerk.”
I wouldn’t have thought it possible, but his eyes widen more, his brows shooting so high they’re disappearing beneath his hairline.
Oh, my God. Hiring this woman is the b
est decision I’ve ever made...
Approaching Tanner’s desk, she moves to set the coffee down, but the heel of her shoe catches on the rug beneath his desk, her body launching forward as the eggs spill off the plate. They land on Tanner’s white shirt, the runny yokes breaking open to stain the fabric yellow.
“What the fuck?” He barks, his eyes shooting down to his shirt, his mouth twisting in anger.
“Language, Mr. Caine. And I am so sorry. I’ll run and get some paper towels to clean that up.”
“Fuck that. You’re fired! Pack your shit, and get the hell out of my office.”
She cocks a hip and plants a hand on it.
“You can’t fire me. Mr. Dane signed a contract guaranteeing me a full year of employment. Apparently, you have a quick temper and make rash decisions. As I can see now. I’ll go get those napkins.”
His stare locks to mine as Alice leaves the room. “Why the hell would you do something so stupid?”
I shrug, my face a mask of calm. “It’s like I said earlier, I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. The only way she would agree to take the job is if I guaranteed it.”
“Fuck,” he hisses, his hands moving to brush the eggs away before he rethinks it and keeps from smearing the mess.
“I don’t have another shirt, and we have the Goldman meeting in a half hour. I can’t go in looking like this.”
My lips quirk. “Goldman’s a good guy. He’ll understand that accidents happen.”
“I’m back with the napkins,” Alice announces as she walks back into the room, “and I found this nice gentleman walking around. He says he’s here to see you, Mr. Caine.”
Eyes shooting up, Tanner looks like he’s about to launch himself across the desk at her.
“Absolutely not! You do not bring people into my office without asking permission first.” His eyes snap to the man beside her. “Who the fuck are you?”
I twist in my seat to see an older man with balding hair and an ill-fitting jacket step into the room, a stack of papers held in his hand.
“You’re Tanner Caine, correct?”
“Of course I’m Tanner Caine. This is my fucking office.”
“Language,” Alice reminds him.
I fight to keep from laughing, my jaw tight at the red staining Tanner’s incredulous expression.
“Good to know,” the man says. “I’m Maxwell Smart with Casper Investigations.”
“Why the fuck should I care?”
“Language.”
The muscle beside Tanner’s jaw is jumping steadily, anger causing his teeth to grind.
I can’t take it. I’m about the piss myself.
“You should care because I’m serving you with this summons and complaint for paternity.”
The man drops the papers on the desk. “Have a nice day, sir.”
“Paternity?”
Tanner’s head is about to explode, his skin a dark crimson, his eyes bulging and nostrils flared.
My head falls back as Tanner snatches the papers from the desk and angrily thumbs through them.
“What in the actually fuck is going on? I don’t even know this woman. Triplets? These aren’t my fucking kids!”
I’m dying.
Right here.
Right now.
Someone needs to write my eulogy.
Tanner drops the papers to take the napkins from Alice.
Angrily swiping at the egg yolk that only smears his shirt more, his head snaps up when Ezra calls out to us from the doorway.
“Goldman’s here. Everyone is in the conference room.”
“Cancel it,” Tanner barks. “I have to deal with this paternity bullshit. I just got served.”
Pursing his lips, Ezra laughs. “I always thought Jase would be the idiot who accidentally knocked someone up first. Guess I owe Damon and Shane fifty bucks for losing that bet.”
Leaning forward, I bite my lip and school my expression. Holding in the laughter is nearly impossible.
Blowing out a breath, I straighten my posture and push to my feet.
“You can’t cancel the meeting. It’s just a quick presentation, and then we can get back to solving your problem. Or...three problems, I guess.”
He stabs a finger at me. “If I hear you laugh once about this, I’m going to strangle you, bury you, and piss on your grave.”
Rolling my lips, I take another deep breath. “Let’s just get the meeting over with.”
Tanner’s shoves up from his seat and storms out of the office.
“The entire damn world has lost its mind,” he mumbles, his stride quick as we walk to the conference room.
Stepping inside, I scan the room to see all the Inferno are in attendance, Steven Goldman sitting between Sawyer and Mason. He smiles at me, his posture relaxed, his suit jacket missing because he’s not as stuffy as our regular clients.
I take my seat as Tanner stands at the head of the table, his shirt stained yellow, his hair disheveled as he flips through the binder about what we’re here to discuss and begins his spiel about the facts of the merger we’re handling.
After ten minutes of talking, he grabs a remote to the screen on the wall behind him.
“We prepared a visual presentation to further illustrate the delicate steps that will need to be taken in order to successfully complete the merger with as few problems as possible.”
Tanner clicks a button to begin the presentation, but another scene comes alive instead, the noise muted, but the naked, writhing bodies making it clear this isn’t the presentation he’d intended.
“Uh...”
His voice trails off as Sawyer laughs from the other side of the table. “Oh, shit. Taylor uploaded the wrong file.”
Steven chuckles and leans back in his seat. “While I appreciate the entertainment, I’m not sure tits and ass will help us much in the merger.”
Tanner angrily turns the television off before turning our direction. Behind him, it flicks back on, the porn as raunchy as ever, the sound bar appearing on the left of the screen as the volume increases.
I’m biting the inside of my cheek so hard that I taste blood. Tears threaten to leak from my eyes.
“Son of a bitch,” Tanner snaps. “Sorry about this, Steven.” He hits the remote again, but as soon the screen darkens it comes to life again.
The entire room busts out in laughter, Tanner’s brows tugging together as Steven’s voice lifts above ours. “Is that a donkey? What kind of sick shit are you guys into?”
It’s the last straw, Tanner’s eyes clenching shut before popping open again with burning rage.
“Fuck this day! I’m done!”
Tanner tosses the remote down on the table so hard the plastic cracks before marching out of the conference room with all of us laughing at his back.
I grin at Steven. “Thanks for playing along. You’re a good sport.”
Smiling back at me, he answers, “It was worth it to see the look on his face.”
Taylor waves the universal remote he coded to the television to fuck with Tanner. “How did he not figure out I have this?”
We’re still laughing when a crash sounds from down the hall, Tanner’s pissed off voice bellowing, “Who fucked with my chair? Goddamn it! Where the fuck is Ivy?”
Shoving to my feet, I run down the hall to see Tanner angrily snatching his bag from the table in his office, his chair in pieces on the floor. His eyes snap up to me.
“I’m leaving. And you can tell your little girlfriend that she’s on my shitlist. She seriously needs to watch her back.”
He knocks his shoulder against mine on his way to the elevator, the door dinging open before he steps in, turns around and levels a death glare on me.
“I mean it, Gabe. Today is not the day for her shit!”
The doors close and I watch the red numbers climb down to the underground garage as Ivy steps up next to me.
“Did he actually believe the paternity papers were real?”
Laughing, I wipe a tear
from my cheek.
“Yes. He didn’t even bother to look at the last page where I signed my name as an attorney for Dewey, Cheatum and Howe. I even listed the phone number as 555-867-5309.”
Ivy cracks up and tangles her fingers with mine. “I paid Alice. She already took off.”
“Her acting skills were impeccable. Hiring her so we could pretend Lacey quit was a good call.”
I’ve never had more fun pranking a person in my life. And with Ivy helping me, it’s never been easier.
We really do make an excellent team. And I was an idiot for taking eighteen years to figure it out.
“Did you fill his car with feathers?”
“All the way to the top,” she says. “I had to open his sunroof to pack the last ones in.”
We both fall silent as the elevator reaches the garage, the numbers stopping for several minutes.
“What do you think he’ll do when he figures out you did all this?”
Chuckling at that, I turn and plant a chaste kiss on her lips. “He’ll learn that payback is a bitch and not to fuck with us again.”
The numbers start moving again, the elevator making its fast ascent back up to our floor.
“That’s our cue. Time to get out of here.”
Both of us head in the direction of a set of stairs that lead down to the floor below us. From there, we’ll take another elevator to escape the office before Tanner can wring our necks.
As we pass the conference room, Ivy peeks her head in.
“Ezra, you have somewhere to be, remember? Get moving.”
He nods his head at that, and I tug her along. Slamming my hand on the handle to the stairwell door, I extend an arm for her to go ahead of me.
“Ladies first,” I whisper.
Her eyes glimmer, that sinful mouth of hers opening on an inside joke that will always be ours.
“Such a gentleman.”
From down the hall, the other elevator dings just before Tanner’s voice booms through the office.
“Where the fuck are Gabriel and Ivy?”
Kissing Ivy quickly, I murmur, “Only for you.”
My hand slaps her ass because we’re out of time.
“Now get the fuck moving before he finds us.”
Ezra
How do I even start this?
