  “Forever.”

  EPILOGUE

  Six years later

  OLYMPIAN SWIMS CHANNEL

Former Olympic gold medalist, Michael Adams, broke the record for the fastest time to swim the English Channel yesterday. The Canadian who now resides in Kent swam the twenty-one-mile distance a mere eight seconds faster than the previous world record.

Adams’s British partner, Evelyn Blake, who is expecting their third child in November, has been raising funds for a variety of children’s charities around the world, as well as raising awareness for Fertility UK. His two-year-old twin daughters, Kimberley and Katherine, who were conceived following fertility treatment, were on the French shores of Cap Gris Nez to congratulate their father, waving both British and Canadian flags.

  The End

  Dear Reader,

I hope you enjoyed When Adam Met Evie. Please tell your friends if you did, and I’d love to hear from you, too. If you want to take the opportunity to have a Behind-the-Scenes look at how it all began, including details of what inspired me to write the story and create the characters, please visit my website – www.giuliaskye.com. You can also take a look at my own photographs of the Kimberleys, taken when I traveled the area in 2008.

My next novel is The Summer of Sebastian. (You may have picked up on a mention of Sebastian Clarke in the scene where Michael has lunch with his old coach, Frank.) The Summer of Sebastian is set largely in the English countryside, not quite as hot and vast as the Australian Outback but just as stunning, especially on a perfect summer’s day, of which there are plenty in this fun and feisty, nothing-is-as-it-seems romance. There are more details on my website.

Thank you for reading - until next time!

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Writing a novel is hard work! I owe thanks to several people who kindly offered support by reading opening chapters and telling me they made sense; Damian Moore, Helen Cripps, Antonia Miller, Emma Alcaraz, Jennifer Moore, Ginta Nkanta and Christina Pishiris. Your encouragement was priceless!

Continuing gratitude goes to all the amazing women (and the few brave men) I work-out with at The Hall, in particular to Jacquie Stewart - the first person ever to read this novel in its most completed form. You made my year by telling me you couldn’t put the book down! Thanks also to Claire Christian, Rosanne Brimsted and Anita Godden for their valuable feedback, and to Jacqui Jennings–fitness instructor extraordinaire–whose tough, sweaty work-outs at the aforementioned Hall kept me fit and sane during the writing of this novel.

Special thanks goes to Ami Mateer whose enthusiastic texts to me one night (all starting with “And I just loved that bit when…”) still make me smile. And a round of applause for the multi-talented Liz White for her close reading–thanks for weeding out the “Scooby-Doo” moments!

I am very grateful to Birgit Bradke, author of Destination Kimberley, for answering my questions about the Kimberleys and the Top End. Any errors are completely my own.

A massive THANK YOU goes out to my fantastic editor, Sarah Calfee, whose expert polishing really made my words shine!

And last, but not least, I’d like to thank the Romantic Novelists’ Association, in particular the truly awesome bunch of writers with whom I share a “virtual office”; Kathleen, Tara, Annette, Alison, Paula, Sophie, Lynne, Julie and Maryam, you crack me up with your wit and banter, and I thank you whole-heartedly for your friendship, support and advice. I could not have done this without you. Mwah-Mwah!

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Italian-born Giulia Skye spent her childhood watching classic Hollywood films and thinking up her own romantic stories. After two decades working in TV production, she knew turning those stories into novels would be much more enjoyable - and far cheaper – than turning them into films. She still keeps her hand in TV production but is at her happiest being a stay-at-home mum, spending time with her family, growing her own vegetables, and conjuring up sizzling stories about sexy heroes meeting feisty heroines who aren’t always as they at first appear. When Adam Met Evie is her first novel, Book 1 of her “Take a Holiday” series, which will soon be followed by The Summer of Sebastian.
