He’s already on the phone calling through our order.

Walking out to the waiting area to inform Dean of his new employment, I come up short when I spot him. He’s sitting as close as he can get to Olivia. She’s alternating between looking at him and talking and reading the magazine she has open on her lap.

I take her in, sitting cross-legged on the winged leather seats we have set up around the place. I take a quick look around the room, trying to take in the space from her perspective.

It’s a pretty modern office, magazines littered the small table in the middle of the room. Predominantly tech magazines, all of which we were mentioned in, from advertising through to various articles and interviews we’d taken.

Along the outer walls of the room leading back to the lifts, we had multiple different tablets and phone models adhered to the wall in a timeline like fashion. With dot point models of our app designs sprinkled throughout too. A visual display of our progress moving along with the new technology.

While taking in the room I notice Dean shift in my peripheral vision. He leans his body into her while talking into her ear, pointing at something on the page. I don’t know why it’s bothering me so much and I’m not prepared to question it either, but I don’t like it.

Striding into the room, I stop just in front of them. Olivia startles when she notices someone new invading her space. She peeks up from the magazine.

The corners of her mouth turning up innocently when she realizes it’s me, before relaxing.

Damn if it isn’t the best-looking smile I’d ever received. I return the gesture before glancing over at Dean.

“Dean, we would be happy to offer you a temporary contract with Anperson Enterprises, if that’s something you wish to consider you can head downstairs to HR and start filling out the paperwork.” He slowly stands, looking back down at Olivia; who hasn’t taken her eyes off of me.

I grin at Dean as I watch him lose some of the cockiness from earlier. He knew the role was intended for a full time, permanent role. Although a few seconds pass before he relents, just like I’d expected.

“Ah, yeah that’s great, I’ll head down there now.” I almost wish he’d declined the offer, regardless if that involved more painful interviews in my future.

Dean turns collecting his things from beside him, but before he leaves he glances back over to Olivia, who’s still staring up at me from where she sits.

“I mean it; I’ll be waiting for your call.”

She must realize she hadn’t been paying attention, I notice a slight blush grace her cheeks. Finally looking over to him, she offers a small smile and a wave in response.

He seems content with it as he walks off towards the lifts.

I don’t move from her space, instead, I tilt my head in her direction.

“You gave him your number?” My voice is a little harsher than I’d intended and I feel like a dick. I know it’s none of my business. Nonetheless, I wait for her answer.

She cuts her eyes back to me, frowning.

“No, that’s why he’s waiting on MY call” she emphasizes.

“Olivia” I just about bark out, cutting off her smirk; wanting more of an answer.

She passes me a piece of paper with a phone number on it; before closing the magazine and standing up. Forcing me to take a step backward so that I don’t knock her back down.

She reaches around me, leaning into my space as she drops the magazine back down on the table.

I look from the paper in my hand down to her baby blue eyes just inches in front of me and shake my head, confused as to why I’m even feeling pissed off, to begin with.

I force a smile before gesturing her ahead of me. She starts walking off in the direction of the hall I’d just come from. Turning and looking over her shoulder at the same time as I scrunch up the phone number and pocket it.

I hear a little laugh, but she doesn’t question or scold me as I catch up with her and lead her into the meeting room.

“He’s ecstatic to be working for your company Jacky” Victoria insists while trailing behind me up to my front door.

She was using that damn pet name she always used on me, and I hated it.

She had come home with me tonight. I’d had her follow behind me in her own car, sending a clear message she wouldn’t be staying the night.

As bad as I felt for having her here at this moment, I needed to get my best friends little sister off of my mind.

Victoria was going to be just the one to help me do it.

“Glad I could help him get his foot in the door” I offer, as I walk up a couple of steps, stopping at my front door and shuffling through my keys to find the right one.

I loved this damn place. I lived a little further out of the city then my two best friends. Opting to buy a house instead of an apartment.

I’d never had a home before, so the first chance I’d got, I jumped on it.

It offered a beautiful view of the mountains and trees, it was like my own private oasis; away from the hustle and bustle. It was a contemporary build, large windows throughout the living area and office space downstairs.

The living area centered around a huge open fireplace, with the adjoining wall hosting a huge flat screen TV. The kitchen and dining areas opened up over a huge deck that was built into the mountain.

Upstairs housed four bedrooms and two bathrooms. As well as a second sitting area and a small gym. It was a little overkill for one guy, but as soon as I found it; I knew I had to have it.

“Charlie” I command when I hear the slight growling coming from the other side of the door. “Charlie, sit boy.”

He settles down and I’m able to push the door open.

As soon as I step through the doorway I’m greeted by the big guy standing up on his hind legs and resting his front paws on my chest.

“Hey buddy” I ruff him up behind his ears, exactly where I know he likes it.

Charlie is my German Shepard and a big boy at that. I’d adopted him a year ago after attending a benefit for a local animal shelter.

The big guy wasn’t allowed out of his pen; the owners of the shelter were worried he might cause trouble.

When I’d asked them how long he’d been at the shelter they informed me he was their longest staying resident, his temper, and stubbornness getting in the way of any willing adoptee parents.

Apparently, his previous owners had really honed in on his aggressive nature. The second the party had ended I’d opened his cage and instead of him reacting how I’d expected, he’d bowled me over, jumping all over me in excitement.

I’d felt a connection with the big brut straight away and took him home with me that day.

He was a great running partner in the mornings and It was nice having him waiting on me when I’d get home from work.

I knew exactly how it felt to be locked away with no one to care about you, and I wanted to give the guy a chance at a better life.

I think he needed me just as much as I needed him.

“Uh, Jacky he’s going to get your suit dirty” I hear the disgust in her voice, but I don’t push him off.

At the sound of someone else’s voice, my dog jumps down and sniffs at the air. Almost immediately he starts growling in her direction. I can’t help but laugh at his reaction to her. Victoria squeals and jumps behind me.

“He’s going to bite me Jacky” she squeals even louder.

Charlie clearly doesn’t like the pet name either.

“Charlie, on your bed” I command, he doesn’t budge though; Stubborn thing.

I grab his collar and pull him along beside me. Walking us through the dark space and out to the back door.

When he realizes I’m letting him out, he stops protesting and I let him go; opening the back door wide for him to run out. I shake my head at the damn dog, before turning back to Victoria.

“Drink?” she slowly saunters over to me, gripping on to my biceps as she leans into me.

&n
bsp; “I can think of something else I’d much rather be doing, than having a drink” she winks over at me just as I spin her around and lead her over to the counter.

She laughs out loud while grinning, “Eager boy.”

I only offer a grunt in response, as I pull her dress up around her hips. I nudge her shoulders down towards the counter and she complies.

Bending over and laying her top half over it.

“This is going to be hard and fast” I growl out while pulling her panties down her legs, leaving them around her ankles. She still has her heels on and it leaves her at just the right height.

Nudging her legs apart further with my foot, as I unhook my belt and button, pulling my zipper open. Freeing my cock from the confines of my briefs.

I’m not normally in this much of a rush, but I’d been walking around with a hard-on since I first laid eyes on Olivia and I needed a release. I knew this made me an arsehole, I knew it was wrong on almost every level. Was that going to stop me though?

I grab protection from my wallet before throwing it down on the bench top beside Victoria. She was swinging her arse back and forth in the air.

After rolling the condom down over my length, I leisurely stroke my fingers along her slit and am happy to feel how wet she already is.

“I need you now” she whimpers at my touch.

I’m not one to say no to that, grabbing hold of her hips I slam into her in one thrust, without any warning.

She takes it though, moaning out as I push her further into the bench.

“Mmm Jacky” I groan at the stupid pet name but she only continues using it, probably assuming it’s turning me on more than off.

I continue holding on to her hip with one hand but lace my other up around her, covering her mouth with it; while slamming into her as she bucks back against me.

  Chapter Seven

  Olivia

  “You going to answer that?”

I peek up from my brothers’ desk. I’d been sitting in his office checking my emails and catching up on life. I’d been with Coop for four weeks now and while I’d thought dad’s calls would have calmed down by now; they were only increasing.

I shake my head in response to Jackson's question as he saunters into the room and sits down opposite me at the desk.

  “Your dad?”

I blow out a frustrated breath. “Yeah, he is relentless.”

Jackson hadn’t been around that much since I’d been here. I mean I’m sure he had, but he seemed pretty busy.

Right now, however, he just looked stressed out.

“Are you okay, you look exhausted?”

Jackson was beautiful, I know you’re not supposed to call a guy that, but there was no other word for him.

He was huge and clearly frequented a gym, his muscles were always well hidden behind his business attire, but his shirts constantly looked like they were fighting a losing battle not to tear at the seams.

What I wouldn’t give to have him take his shirt off now, I’d heard talk of the 6 pack he was sporting under there.

The girls around the office were chatty, they’d told me all the gossip from around the office and apparently they’d forgotten I was Cooper's sister because they’d shared a little too much information on him for my liking.

All three of the guys were attractive, that was obvious. They didn’t have much to say about Tony, apparently, he barely acknowledges anyone unless it’s work related.

Cooper was the charmer of the group, it seemed his mission in life was to flirt with the entire female population.

Jackson however, was deemed as ‘sexy as hell; but the arsehole of the trio.’

I’d yet to see that side to him, other than our first interaction; he’d been nothing but kind to me.

But I guess it was a little different, I was his business partner and best friends’ sister, what was he really going to do to me.

I mean, I would gladly offer up some suggestions for him; the chances of him taking me up on them was a completely different story.

I smirk to myself, thinking of all the things I’d like to do to him.

I shake it off, trying to hide the blush I could feel creeping over my cheeks when I notice him raise a brow in my direction.

“Not really, one of our release dates for an app needs to be pushed back past its deadline, our main backer on the project is threatening to pull their side of the funding unless one of us goes out there for a face to face and renegotiation.” Jackson's sigh is long and drawn out.

“On top of that, we outsourced some of our Technicians so we’d need to go and slash the whip a little, oversee that their actually doing what we’re paying them for.”

If it was the same project Cooper had been telling me about, then I knew this was a huge deal for them.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” he smirks over at me. Not an arrogant smirk, but a kind good natured lift to his beautiful full lips. Laughing a little before he answers.

“Nah Olivia, you’re good, thanks though.”

My phone starts ringing again, startling me. When I see my dad’s name across the screen I hold the power button down and shut it off.

“Does he know where you are?” Jacksons inquiry draws my attention again; I bite down on my lip a little at his question.

My dad had no idea where I was, I’d turned off all the tracking on my phone when I’d left, worrying that he would come to find me and guilt me into going back.

After the first few days I was here, Tony had pulled me aside and asked for my phone.

I’d handed it over curious as to why, but after a couple of minutes, he just passed it back to me.

He’d somehow managed to change the service from my Dad’s Account over to Anpersons’ Accounts. I was able to keep my number and my Dad wouldn’t be able to track my service or cut the number off now that he didn’t have any access to it.

I decided to just be happy about it and not to inundate Tony with all my questions.

He seemed to be pleased with that decision, relaxing a little before demanding I program his and Jacksons numbers into my phone in case I ever needed them.

Shaking my head from my thoughts, I try to smile at Jackson, but I’m sure it’s more a grimace.

“I’m not sure, I doubt it since he hasn’t shown up.” I try to laugh it off, but even I hear the unease in my voice.

Jackson sits forward in his seat, “I’ve got to ask you something.”

He’s serious tone doesn’t leave room for negotiation, I close the laptop in front of me and wait for him to speak again.

“Was that the only time your father put his hands on you?”

I can hear the underlying anger in his voice and I don’t know how to answer him, I don’t lie well; I never have.

But I don’t want to answer him either, I start worrying my bottom lip between my teeth, trying to come up with a reasonable answer.

My silence must be enough of an answer though; he exhales as he roughly fists his hands through his hair and cuts me with a frown.

  “Olivia.”

I already know what he’s going to say, so I quickly shake my head in response to my name.

“No Jackson, I can’t tell Coop; he already feels bad enough. I won’t make him feel worse for something that can’t be changed.” His eyes soften slightly, his voice quieter when he speaks

  “Olivia…”

But before he can finish his sentence, he’s cut off as Coop walks into his office.

“Must have both had the same idea, I just went up to your office looking for you” he sighs out, flinging himself into the seat beside Jackson.

They both look stressed and tired. I hate this helpless feeling it’s giving me.

“I’m going to have to fly out to them, meet with their people and smooth it over. There is no way we can get the work done by the original deadline, too much has gone wrong with this one.” He chuckles, “Don’t even get me started on the fucking Technicians.”

I alternate looking between them, wishing there was something I could do.

Jackson sighs, “yeah, Tony’s working his arse off trying to get shit done.”

Coop looks over to me and I can see the concern etched in his face. I want to stop it as soon as I can.

“Coop, go, do what you need to do. I’ll be fine.”

But he doesn’t look convinced, I’d never forgive myself if I got in the way of this for him.

“Cooper, this is your business. Your partners depend on you to pull your weight, do what you need to do. I’ll be at the apartment and I’ll stay out of the way.” I try again with the only promise I can think of.
