“Hey there.” I say walking up to them.

  “Everything okay?” Jen asks.

“Yup, you ready to go?” I say.

“Yeah, um I think Hawk and the rest of the guys wanted to talk to us before we left though,” Jen says not wanting to look at me. That usually means there is something that I’m not going to like and she knows it.

  “About what?” I ask.

“Protection.” Jax says as he walks up to us.

“Jen, I think that’s a meeting just for you. I’m not one of you guys. I’m just visiting.”

“Nope, it concerns you as well,” Hawk says.

Everyone gets up and starts walking towards a room in the back. I don’t move. Hawk walks up to me and extends his hand out towards me.

“Come on, I promise we don’t bite. We’re just trying to help,” Hawk says.

I look him in the eyes and grab his hand and allow him to lead me to a giant room with a huge glass table in the middle.

“What is this room? It feels like a corporate board room.”

“It’s where we have our meetings.”

Jen and I hang back. Everyone takes a seat around the table. Hawk is at the head.

“What the fuck is going on?” I blurt out. “I don’t like all this mystery. Someone needs to say something. I’ve been through enough shit lately. If I’m in danger I need to know by who and why and why you are protecting us?”

“Calm down, Hannah. You’re shaking.” My cousin Jen says to me. Hawk comes over to me and pulls out a seat.

“Please sit down and calm down.”

“No, I don’t want to sit down. I want to know what is going on. I barely know any of you. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my cousin trusting you.”

“Listen, I understand you being angry. All we want to talk about is that we are ordering protection for Jen and you for a little while. You will have a prospect watching over you. You won’t even know they are there. We don’t anticipate anything further happening but I never say never unless I know 100 percent and I don’t want to be a liar or have you unprotected or something happening to the both of you.”

“What are we in danger from and why do they want to harm us?” I ask.

“They think you guys are dating Hawk and Jax,” Doc blurts out.

  “Excuse me?” I blurt back.

“They were following Hawk and Jax and noticed they were at your home. They believe you are their old ladies,” Doc answers again. Why is he answering all the questions, how does he know all of this? I’m so confused.

“What the fuck? I left one mad house to be brought into another one. I can’t believe this is happening.” My cousin has been super quiet in all this. “What do you think of all this Jen?”

“I think we should let them give us protection.”

“It wasn’t a question of whether or not you will take it. It’s happening,” Hawk replies. I’m starting to notice how arrogant he is now. I’m getting angrier and anxious at the same time.

I’m about to open my mouth and say something but my cousin interjects.

“Hannah, don’t. I’m sorry to cut you off but you need to let them do this. They will do it regardless. Save your energy, there’s no point in wasting your energy.” She knows I’m about to go off.

“Are we done here? It’s purposeless you even calling this meeting or whatever you want to call it. You’re going to do whatever you want regardless if we say no.” I get up out of my seat and leave the room.

  Chapter 5

  Hawk

“What the fuck just happened?” I ask to the room. I called a meeting with the guys, Jen and her cousin Hannah. Hannah stormed out of here fuming.

“You’re forcing her to accept and do something she doesn’t want. You’re not giving her any power. You have to realize, she hasn’t had control of her life, her body, or anything for the past few years,” Doc blurts out.

“She came here to escape and your forcing her. She has had the worst you can think of happen to her, she was forced, raped, and not given control of her life. Do you think you can see where she’s coming from being pissed? I understand what you guys are doing and why the protection is necessary but I’ve been a part of this life for a while now. She hasn’t, she barely just got here,” Jen states.

“Well, shit. You both need protection until we know a threat is gone. They think she’s my old lady and that you are Jax’s.” I won’t have the death of two women on my hands, no fucking way.

“I understand. Please let me talk to her. She will make your life hell, Hawk. She knows how to run.”

“Anyone else got anything else to say?” I say.

No one says anything. We can’t talk shop with Jen in here. I think she gets the hint.

“Thank you guys for everything. I can’t tell you how much that means to me. I’m sorry my cousin is being difficult but she’s had some shit happen to her and she’s allowed. She needs time to heal.” She stands and gives us all hugs and leaves the room.

“Alright, what do you all have to say? I know you’re dying to say some shit.”

“Pres, the clubs going to ask why we’re pulling resources to extend full protection to, two women who aren’t old ladies,” Jax says.

“If they got a problem they can come have words with me. Do you fuckers have a problem with it?”

There is a consensus of head nods “No.” I didn’t think they would.

“I didn’t think so. If someone has a problem, which I suspect they won’t, let them have words and we can get to the bottom of it. Alright let’s get down to business. Delta, where are we at with the shit heads?” I ask.

“I have them at the chop shop outside of town for now until we decide what we want to do with them,” he answers.

“We should exterminate them and then take over the club. Extend our MC in their town and take over. We can create a new chapter out there,’ Jax states.

“I like the idea but their town is crawling with dirty ass cops and the feds are always in.”

“We can deal with that. I have contacts in the town. They are dying to get the Devils out of the town. Shit, I think even the feds would be willing to help get them out as long as no blood fell on their hands,” Axl says. It all sounds good to me. The town the Devil’s Daddie’s is in is a perfect location for an MC chapter and the perfect location for a transport drop off. It has easy access to all major highways but secluded at the same time.

“Find out what you can about the feds and the dirty cops. We have an opportunity to take over, I want to take it. It’s a major hub for transport. Our ally clubs will help out if we need it. Let’s take a vote. All in favor of taking over and creating a new chapter say “Aye.”

There is a collective “Aye.” Everyone’s in agreement.

“Pres, what do you want to do with the fucking assholes we have at the chop shop?” Delta asks.

“Get rid of them,” I say without regard to anything. I don’t give a fuck about their lives.

  Everyone nods in agreement.

“Keep a souvenir,” I say. I want a fucking ear or a finger or something.

  “Hawk?” Jax questions.

“I want something to prove they’re gone and we’re in charge. I want to be able to take something to the club to show we ain’t messing around.”

  “Got it, Pres.”

“Also, drop off the bodies at their old club house. I want them to run amuck for a while and I want to see who’s going to take charge. Doc, I want surveillance on their club. Who goes in and out. I want a bug if we can get. I want to know what they’re thinking and planning.”

“I already got it. I sent two brothers to plant bugs. I should have it up and running soon,” Doc responds.

“Pres, how long before we move in?” Delta asks.

“I want to plan carefully. I need to make a few calls to our ally chapters and see if they want in.” I can almost guarantee they will all want in. T
he Devil’s Daddies’ area is a hot spot. If we can get the law on our side we will have no problems. “Delta, I want you to plan and get back to me on how you want to do this. I want multiple options. We will meet in a few days to discuss logistics. I want to give the fuckers time to react.”

  “Got it, Pres.”

“Anything else?” I ask to the room.

“What about Hannah and Jen? Who are we assigning to them?” Jax asks.

“Who are the oldest prospects we have?”

  “Jimmy and Tim.”

“Great, I want Jimmy on Hannah and Tim on Jen. They don’t move without them. Also, we’re keeping it tight on who knows about the Devil’s Daddies until we have a plan set.”

They all agree. My brothers have my back.

“Pres, we need to let the brothers know about the prospects protection detail.” We are very transparent with all the brothers. It’s a sign of respect.

“Doc, call an emergency meeting. I want every Blazing Saint in the clubhouse and I want all club whores out.”

Doc gets on his computer and sends out a mass text to all the brothers. All the brothers live within 20 minutes of the clubhouse. Most will be here in 15.

  “Done,” Doc replies.

“Anything else we need to discuss?” Silence. “Great, let’s get this shit going. I’ll meet you guys in the main rec room in 30.” I hit my gavel and everyone gets up to leave except Delta and Jax.

“Delta, I’ll go with you to dispose of the trash we picked up from Jen’s house. I need to let out some steam.” I really need to hit something.

  “I’m in to,” Jax says.

Both Jax and I need to let off some steam. I can’t stand a rapist and an abuser. Those fucks will pay and that club will be dismantled bit by bit.

“Jax, get Jimmy and Tim in here.”

“On it,” he steps out, leaving to grab the prospects. They have been with us the longest and will be fully patched members if they don’t fuck up. Both are buddies of Delta, ex-military. I trust him when he tells me they can be trusted as Blazing Saints. He’s sponsoring both of them, vouching for both of them to become Blazing Saints. They have been prospects for over a year now.

Jax returns with both Jimmy and Tim. We don’t call them by their names, just prospect.

“Prospects, we have a job for you. You’ll both be on protection details.”

They both nod their heads. The way they stand really emphasizes they were in the military.

“What do you need to know?” I ask them both.

“Who are the targets?” Jimmy asks.

“Who is the enemy?” Tim asks after.

I toss a folder that Doc gave me on both Jen and Hannah. It slides across the table towards them.

“Jimmy, your ordered to protect Hannah and Tim, you have Jen.” They both grab the folders and take a look. Everything they need to know is in there.

“They are to be protected 24/7. They are aware of your presence. Hannah may be a problem for you, Jimmy, she’s resisting the protection.”

“Pres, may I speak freely?” Jimmy says.

  “Go ahead.”

  “I know her.”

What the fuck? Everyone’s heads turn. “How?”

“We went to high school together and we…”

“You what, prospect?” I can see him swallowing hard.

“We used to be best friends and we dated for a while before I joined the military after high school.”

“Is this going to interfere with the job?”

“No, Pres. I just want to be as transparent as possible.”

Shit. I hope this doesn’t complicate things. I need him to protect her. I also don’t like an ex being around her.

“Alright, your detail starts now. You’re dismissed.”

We spend the next few hours going over details with the club and addressing any concerns.

I also spend the next few hours contacting ally chapters to discuss what’s going on and to ask for back up on the raid of the Devil’s Daddies MC. I’ve gotten most of our allies on board except for a few that just lost a few brothers. I’m sending out a few of our brothers to pay our respects.

  Chapter 6

  Hannah

“Jen, I can’t believe we’re in this mess. I came here to escape, not get involved with a motorcycle gang. Their fucking hot President is going to drive me insane with his macho attitude.”

Jen and I are riding back to her house. We left the club and they ordered us to have 24/7 security. I understand the need but I just wish I didn’t have someone else invading my space and privacy. I’m also caught up into a club that I have nothing to do with.

“Relax, Hannah. Just let them do what they need to. You won’t even know they are there.”

“Why are you saying it like you’ve had protection before?”

“Because, I have. Some guys were harassing me at work and they helped protect me.”

  “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t want to worry you plus the club has been good to me. They have kept me safe, nothing happened.”

“I guess, but they have also brought danger to us. We literally had dinner with them and then poof the next morning we had…” I don’t even finish my sentence. I feel a lump forming in my throat.

Jen squeezes my leg. “It’s okay, we will be okay. Alright?”

“Okay.” I have no choice but to trust her.

We finally make it back to Jen’s house and parked out front are two bikers.

  “Great.”

“It will be okay. They are nice. It’s Jimmy and Tim. They are super nice. They are prospecting for the club.”

  “What does that even mean?”

“It means they are trying to become official members. They are in their trial phase, but they have been with the club for over a year now, if I remember right.”

“Okay.” I get out of the car and head up to the front door. One of the guys goes to Jen, I guess he is assigned to her. The other is waiting for me by the front door.

“Hello, Hannah.” I try to not make eye contact but the way he says my name, is familiar. I look up and I’m surprised. I know him, we grew up together and we dated before he was deployed.

“Jimmy?” I rush to give him a giant hug. He squeezes me tight. I immediately feel safe. “Jimmy, I don’t understand. I thought you were in the military. You were going to make a career out of it and now you’re here.”

“I did make a career out of it. It’s been 15 years Han; I left the military a little over a year ago and joined the Blazing Saints. My buddy Delta is the Sargent at Arms.” Man, he looks hotter than ever. He’s more developed. His body is huge but lean. His hair is cropped short and his eyes are telling me they’ve seen shit.

I turn to the door and walk in. I’m immediately feel like the wind has been knocked from me. My breathing is getting faster and I can feel my heart racing in my chest and neck. I bend over and feel my head getting light and vision blurring. It’s as if someone is sucking the air out of the house.

“I think I need to sit down.” He rushes over to me and holds me up.

“Hey, hey there. Let’s get you over to the couch okay.” He walks me over to the couch. He’s the support I’ve been missing from my life.

I put my head between my knees and take a few deep breaths. I hear him on the phone.

“Who are you calling?” I say between heavy breathing.

  “Hawk.”

  “Why?”

“Because you aren’t okay and I need to let him know what’s going on. Doc is going to come by.”

“I’m fine, it’s just a little anxiety, they don’t need to come by.”

“What’s going on in here? Han?” My cousin runs over to me.

“I’m okay. Just having a moment Jen.”

  “We should call doc.”

  “He’s on his way.”

“You guys I’m fine, really.” I feel my
anxiety building up again. Shit, I’ve never had this before. I think I’m having PTSD in my cousin’s house.

Jimmy walks over to me and hugs me. His weight calms me down. He also smells really, really nice. I haven’t had a man touch me and not abuse me. He feels safe. It’s calming me, grounding me.

“I feel like I’m 17 again.” I say into his shoulder.

“Yeah, it’s definitely bringing up memories having you in my arms like this.”

“What the fuck Prospect?” Hawk says. Jimmy jumps up and away from me as Hawk walks in. It throws me against the couch.

“Jeez, what the fuck?” I say trying to pick myself up.

“Sorry Han. Pres, she was having a panic attack. I know when I would have them, warmth and weight would ground me.”

“I never said you could touch your protection detail Prospect. Is this proper conduct?”

  “No sir.”

“Stop, being an asshole Hawk.” I’m tired of his bullshit. This macho man bullshit.

“Hannah, stop,” Jen says. Her face is in shock and fear.

“No, I will not stop. I’m tired of being told what to do and how people should be around me. I’m done with all this macho shit.”

“Listen, here Hannah. I think we should speak in the other room,” Hawk says.

“I don’t want to be alone with you.” I pout.

“I’m not going to hurt you but we need to speak.” I can tell he’s livid.

“No.” I go to stand next to Jimmy.

“Hannah, I think you should speak with Hawk. He won’t hurt you,” Jimmy says.

“I don’t want to go anywhere with him alone.” I go to my room and start packing my things. I can’t be around these people. I can’t handle it right now. I need to be alone. I feel frantic.

“Hannah, what are you doing?” Jen comes rushing into my room and stands by the door frame.

“I need to get out of here Jen. Thank you for everything, but as long as they are around and try to control what I’m doing I can’t be here. I’m sorry.”
