“You lost your home, in all of this,” he told her. “My mom is still out there sitting next to a pool. I could go back any time I wanted to. I’m choosing to be here, instead, and it’s because I finally found something worth doing. Thank you for that.”
She sighed.
“It’s not over,” she said, and she felt him shake his head.
“No. It’s just now finally starting.”
