A Dream of Death Page 29

by Connie Berry

“Not at the moment.” He drew me to him again, folding me in his arms. “It could happen, Kate,” he murmured into my hair. “We just have to let it.”

Oh, how I wanted to believe him. “But why cause ourselves pain? You’re not going to move to the States. I’m not going to move to England.”

“We don’t have to face that yet. Come to England. Just for a visit. We need time together. We’ll figure it out.” His face darkened with some powerful emotion. “Please don’t say no. Please, Kate.”

I rolled my eyes at him in mock exasperation. “Oh, all right. I’ll come in December.”

I’d tell him about Christine and the internship later. I know—I’m bad.

I made a face, and he started to laugh. “Come on, you. Let’s spend our last few hours together.”

A sudden breeze made the leaves flutter.

I could almost feel a page turning.

  Author Biography

Connie Berry was born in Racine, Wisconsin, to second generation immigrants from Scandinavia and the British Isles. Like her main character, Connie grew up in the world of fine antiques. Her parents, unrepentant antique fanatics, eventually opened a shop, not because they liked selling antiques so much but because they needed a plausible excuse to continue buying them. Connie has degrees in English from DePauw University and The Ohio State University. She also studied at the University of Freiburg in southern Germany and St. Clare’s College in Oxford, England. A self-confessed Anglophile, Connie’s Antique mysteries are set in the UK. She lives in Ohio with her husband, Bob, and adorable Shih Tzu, Millie. They have two sons. Besides writing, Connie loves foreign travel, antiques, reading, knitting, and cute animals.

This is a work of fiction. All of the names, characters, organizations, places and events portrayed in this novel are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to real or actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
