The Idle System (A LitRPG series Book 7): Family Page 13

Kelly ran towards John and tried to grab the piece of paper off him, but John smiled and placed it inside his Storage Space, causing Kelly to look around for it.

“Let me say this.” John looked at Kelly. “It’s not your job to worry about or protect your parents—that’s our job. You can do whatever you want without worry. You might not believe me, but even if both kingdoms declared war on me or your mother, either one of us could wipe them out before day’s end.

“The prince outside the house has been lying to you, but I guess you already figured some of it out and were fishing for information.

“There’s no investigation into what happened in town. None of his knights back home can be ordered to kill me or your mother, and he also tried to kill the princess and her knights before you arrived, but your mother saved them.

“That’s why I asked if you were finished screwing around with your fishing expedition.”

“What happened to the knight that attacked you?” Kelly asked.

  “Dead,” John replied without hesitation.

He had used a hundred threads to hit the knight all over his body. Each thread had a strength potential of up to five hundred pounds, and he used everything they could give. John had hit him with the force of twenty-five tons which caused whatever was left of the knight to fly for more than a mile.

John looked at the next knight that came inside the house before speaking to Kelly. “I’m sure you’ve got loads of questions to ask me. We were going to tell you everything on your twenty-first birthday, but we decided to tell you everything when this is all over since you went with the prince for answers and out of concern for us.

“I’ll let you deal with the knights. Whether you kill them, cripple them, or just disarm them is up to you, but I’m going to get the prince to tell us what he really had planned.”

John then used his threads to push the knight out of the house as he walked towards the exit. Kelly followed to see what he was going to do but was amazed the knight got pushed out before her dad even got close.

Outside the house, John walked up to the prince while pushing away the knights that were protecting him.

He used the threads to push on the prince’s body to stop him from running away, and when he got close, he lifted his hand which only had his index finger pointed up.

At the tip of his index finger, he created a small ball of light for visual effects and touched the prince’s forehead. In reality, he used the Soul Manipulating skill through the threads.

John asked questions and the prince answered honestly.

He revealed how he tried to shift the blame for the princess’ death to John and make it so John would blame the king of Bahan for Kelly’s disappearance and eventually her death, causing a civil war.

After the prince explained everything, John turned around to face Kelly. “So, how are you going to deal with the knights that helped him in this plot?”

  Chapter 25: The Truth

“I…” Kelly couldn’t find the words to speak.

John laughed. “Now you know how I felt when you asked to kill the bear all those years ago. However…” John’s face turned serious. “You need to make a decision just like I did. I decided to let you kill the bear because killing is a necessity in this universe.

“You heard the prince’s plot. These knights were going to kill you and try to start a war. The knights aren’t the mastermind, but they didn’t try to stop it either and they would’ve done the dirty work for the prince.”

John crossed his arms over his chest as he waited for Kelly’s response.

Kelly tilted her head a little while she was thinking.

“Cripple them,” she declared after a few minutes.

  “Oh?” John was surprised.

They’re not the mastermind so they don’t deserve to die. Is that her way of thinking?

I kill sinners and enemies without hesitation while Sarah saves them at least once and only kills them if they try it again, wasting her good graces.

Now Kelly is split between us and cripples the enemies. Did that ‘big argument’ between me and Sarah have any effect on her judgement or is this her honest choice?

I’m not sure if that’s crueller or kinder. Kept alive, they might suffer for years but at the same time, could hope for a full recovery which will slowly disappear.

Not sure if it’s a smart or dumb move either. If they remain alive, then their hatred for her will grow. If they’re dead, then it ends with no chance of them exacting revenge.

“If that’s your choice, then do it.”

John watched his daughter walk up to the first knight. Without hesitation, she broke his bones, tore his tendons, and mutilated his muscles, crippling him instantly. She was good at it, thanks to Sarah teaching her everything she knew about human anatomy.

She proceeded to do the same to the other knights.

John smiled when she was finished. “Time to show you how awesome your father really is.”

Creating a few threads, he wrapped them around everybody and then lifted them in the air. He then started floating in the air before gaining altitude.

Everybody but John screamed, though Kelly only screamed for the first few seconds.

As he picked up speed, Kelly closed her eyes because of the wind, so John used his wind element to stop it hitting her eyes as they travelled while telling her she needed to get used to it.

It didn’t take long for John to arrive above the Gralux Kingdom’s capital.

When he arrived, he used his water, wind, dark, lightning, and ice elements to replace the blue skies with a quickly forming storm that was ready to hit the capital.

Tornadoes formed around the capital wall, lightning hit some of the houses, and rain and hail pelted everything while the entire capital went from a sunny day to pitch black storm clouds in seconds.

John decreased his altitude with the group and soon entered the castle. Kelly was walking at his side with the prince behind them and the knights floating since they could no longer walk.

Kelly was still in shock about her dad being able to fly, change the weather, and alter the wind, but she kept a poker face while watching everything.

Stopping a few dozen feet away from the throne, John let the prince walk past him and stand still in front of the king.

John then explained what the prince had done and sentenced the prince to death.

Raising his hand, he put his thumb and middle finger together and turned his head towards Kelly. “This is an old attack of mine that became useless on stronger people since its requirements are unique.

“This might get a bit gruesome for you since it’ll be your first time, but try and watch to the end.”

The explosion attack needs to get inside the enemy’s body to be effective, but those at Rank 5 and above are more sensitive to Life Power and can stop it.

At Rank 6, their strengthened branches can stop the explosion attack from travelling inside their body even if it manages to get inside. It also can’t work on Rank 7’s and above who have strengthened their cells.

I miss seeing the expressions on people’s faces when using this attack.

John then flicked his fingers, causing the prince’s head to explode.

Any knight or other people who tried to help were stopped by John’s threads. In his Scan, John saw the people’s faces change to shock, disgust, and horror.

After a few seconds, John removed the threads around the knights, put his hand on Kelly’s shoulder, and teleported them away. As soon as John had disappeared, the weather in the capital cleared up.

John and Kelly appeared just outside of the town where Sarah was at.

Kelly looked around. Upon recognising the place, her mouth fell agape. It took her four months to arrive in the capital in the carriage, but only a few seconds to come back.

It didn’t take them long to walk to their house where they found Sarah sitting at the kitchen table waiting for them to arrive. She had seen Kelly in the S
can as soon as she arrived and knew John had teleported her there.

“Right.” John sat down at the kitchen table with Kelly as he spoke. “I suppose it’s time to tell the whole truth.”

Sarah smiled at Kelly. “You might not believe us at first, but we know you’re from Earth because we’re from there, too.”

Kelly’s mouth was wide open—just like every other time she was shocked or surprised and couldn’t keep it in—but after a few seconds, she had tears going down her cheeks while laughing.

They waited for her to calm down. They had felt the same when meeting someone from Earth in a different universe, too. Before that, the feeling of being a foreigner and all alone wouldn’t go away.

Both John and Sarah didn’t want Kelly feeling that kind of loneliness, but they also had to let Kelly feel those strong negative emotions so she had a better chance of surviving as an immortal in the future.

“People like us, who are from Earth, are called Siders in this universe. Only we know that we’ve got some kind of system, like a game interface, inside of us. Mine’s called The Idle System and your mother’s is The Toxic System.”

John then proceeded to tell her what their systems did, the fact that they were immortals, and the truth about the story they told her all those years ago.

They also made their nano armour change into earrings to show their real, young faces. John showed his black star around his right eye and his black nails, while Sarah showed her faint yellow ring around her left eye and her yellow nails, too.

Kelly had plenty of questions to which they answered truthfully.

They then asked Kelly for the truth about her.

“Back on Earth,” Kelly began, “I was born into a circus family and grew up doing all kinds of different things to help the circus. Eventually, I was doing some of the acts as an extra, but it didn’t last long because when we went to Las Vegas, a magician asked if I would become his assistant.

“While I did help him with the show for years, my main job was helping to come up with new illusions. We call them illusions between those in the trade because that’s what they are. We come up with different ways to avert the crowd’s eyes while doing something else, making it look like magic.

“It went pretty well and we were the best magic show in Las Vegas for years, but when I was trying a new illusion, something went wrong and I got into an accident. When I woke up, I was in my mother’s arms with her looking down at me.

“I couldn’t believe it, I thought it was the magician screwing around somehow, but after looking at the house and how it didn’t come to an end, it struck me that it was real.

“I do have a system like you said, but I wasn’t born with it.”

John and Sarah looked at each other and could see different signs of them being shocked.

“When I first killed that bear,” Kelly continued, “that’s when the system showed up. I was surprised since it just appeared out of nowhere.

“It’s called The Illusion System and it can create a complete illusion of anything I’ve killed. I could create an entire army of creatures already, but they can’t do anything other than scare people so I chose not to use it unless there’s an emergency.”

“That explains why I never figured out what your system was,” John stated after Kelly fell silent.

“Is there anything like a counter on the things you’ve killed? Maybe after a tipping point, they could become real?” Sarah asked, but Kelly only shook her head.

“Well,” John started, “I think we’ve revealed pretty much everything, right? Next, I’ll share my skills with Kelly.”

Kelly looked at John, wondering what he was on about.

John smiled. “My system has a skill to let me and you share skills with each other. You’ll have all of mine—that a mortal can have—while you share yours, but it will be painful so you’re going to have to be asleep when it happens.”

All of them went to Kelly’s bedroom and Kelly laid down on her bed. John then used the Share Skill with Kelly, which she accepted and then gave John her skills first.

  Create Illusion:

Create an illusion of any creature you’ve killed.

  Auditory Illusion:

Creature: Cause the listener to hear all the sounds the creature you’ve created with Create Illusion would make if it was real.

Distance: Disrupt the strength of a sound to confuse the listener about the distance, making it sound closer or further away than reality.

  Illusions Space:

If more than one creature is created from the Create Illusion skill, the creatures will acknowledge each other, causing them to talk to and not bump into each other to create the illusion of an army.

Kelly only had these four skills.

John shared all his skills that a mortal could use with Kelly after Sarah used a strong poison to knock her out. Kelly had built up an immunity to the poisons, so Sarah had to strengthen the poison.

The skills John shared would strengthen Kelly’s body, mind, and immunity system.

John and Sarah stood at the end of Kelly’s bed, watching over her as she rested. They noticed her skin moving as the Flesh’s Strength skill tightened both her skin and the muscles just under the flesh on a cellular level. This continued for five minutes, until the skill was completed.

Nothing happened to her that they could see for the next thirty minutes. John was calm as he kept watch, but Sarah grew worried before asking, “What’s happening?”

John chuckled. “This is what happened when I gave you the skills. We’re only able to see the skills that affect her appearance, but the skills are working on her organs, bones, and muscles while also giving her abilities like the map and storage. Obviously, we can’t see those working.”

Sarah nodded in understanding and calmed down.

Ten minutes later, Kelly’s skin became smoother. The rough skin on her hands from handling weapons for too long softened, and her face became rosier.

  “Wow.”

“That’s the Absorption skill working. Any dehydration she had is gone now. It’s been so long since I’ve shared these skills with anybody, and I got used to them working in the background that I forgot all about them,” John reminisced.

“Remember to whisper when talking to her when she wakes up. I remember how loud your voice was after my hearing sense skyrocketed.”

John gave Sarah a playful nudge, and silence filled the room as they waited for Kelly to wake up.

Half an hour later, Kelly’s eyelids twitched and slowly opened.

“How are you feeling?” Sarah whispered.

“Weird. You guys are so far away, then too close.”

“That’s the vision skill working,” John whispered. “You’ll get the hang of it soon, but until then you might feel a bit of nausea from the sudden changes.”

Sarah helped Kelly get out of bed and supported her while she refamiliarized herself with everything.

It took Kelly a few hours to get used to the new strength, speed, and senses she had gained, and from that day on, all three of them became honest with each other.

One month later, on Kelly’s birthday, Sarah took out the Age Test Crystal that she found when she was a mortal and placed it in front of Kelly.

Kelly knew what it was because they had explained how it worked, so she took a deep breath and touched it. John and Sarah watched as Kelly gritted her teeth and held her head with her hands. However, she never rolled around in pain or screamed out loud like they had done.

They realised the pain she was experiencing wasn’t as bad as when they turned immortal because of the training she had done, but she still showed signs of being in pain.

When it was all over, Sarah used poison to knock Kelly out while she was on her bed again.

John then shared all the immortal skills with Kelly.

Once again, they stood at the end of the bed and watched the transformation.

Her transformation was just like Sarah’s, including her
hair shrinking while it turned curly. Her eyes and hair were already silver to begin with, so the colour didn’t change.

The only problem was that he couldn’t share the Life Toxin skill he got from Sarah to turn the Life Power to Toxin Power.

With the amount of Life Power their cultivation techniques got, and because Kelly couldn’t use Toxin Power, she would get the maximum of one trillion Life Power her brain could store in less than fourteen days. She wouldn’t be able to expand her neurons until she reached higher ranks.

She would be able to nourish her body by using the proper cultivation method instead of what John and Sarah did, so after that, she’d be able to store Life Power in her body.

After Kelly woke up, he gave her the beastmen cores so that she could control all elements, and he also gave her half of his Life Stones. While he didn’t need Life Stones for anything other than for the Recovery Skill, he had a plan he wanted to put in motion when he left and needed the other half.

Sarah gave half of her Life Stones to Kelly because she was near the limit of Toxic Power she could gather, too.

On this day, John’s final skill had finished, but when it did, nothing special happened. He was already generating vitality for his entire body manually, so all that happened was the skill took over for him.

Now, there were no skills he could place the Idlers into, so they were just sitting there, idle.

After a few more days of helping Kelly get used to the skills and controlling the elements, John told them it was time for him to leave and, hopefully, find a way to transcend.

He gave Kelly and Sarah a long hug that lasted for twenty minutes before he let go and disappeared.

  Chapter 26: Catching Up

John didn’t use his universal map or teleport next to the Nobody Sect’s teleport room. He only teleported a few dozen miles away before he flew straight up.

He flew for tens of miles, entering the stratosphere, but he kept going.

A few minutes later and he was almost five hundred miles above the planet and inside the planet’s orbit.
