I’d initially wanted to keep her out of the spotlight, but she thinks she’s the rock star of the family, so I can’t stop her from doing something she loves. She just turned two and has more spunk than her mother and me combined.
As I reach the end of our set, Emily places Maddie down on the ground. With a squeal, she runs over to leap into my arms. Her curly brown hair bounces as she waves at the crowd with excitement. We finish every concert the same way each time we perform.
“Say hello to our fans, Maddie.”
“Wello!”
The crowd coos at her cuteness, adoring that she hasn’t worked out her H sound yet.
She gives the crowd a peace sign before sprinting to Jasper, who is hiding behind his daddy’s leg. Jasper’s personality is the complete opposite of Maddie’s. He’s shy, and she’s dominant.
The poor kid doesn’t have a clue what he’s in for. I would warn him, but that would be like Emily cautioning Jenni to stay away from Nick. You can tell them until you're blue in the face that it isn’t a good idea, but they’ll never listen. You can’t help who you fall in love with, and I think Jasper is already madly, deeply in love with Maddie.
I salute our fans before making my way off stage to give Emily a long, scorching kiss. Our kiss lasts as long as our fans’ shouted requests for an encore, but it’s nowhere near long enough to appease the hunger I have for my wife. I’ll never get enough of her.
After pulling back from her plump lips, I glide my finger down Emily’s flushed cheek. “Have you heard from Jacob?”
Her smile switches to a frown. “No. Not yet.”
I exhale a big breath as panic makes itself known in my gut. Everything in my life has finally worked out like I had hoped, so now I need to stand at Jacob’s side, supporting him until he too gets the life he deserves.
Part two in the Perception Series is Jacob’s title: Fighting Jacob. It will be released shortly.

Acknowledgments
Thank you to the following individuals whose support assured this book would be written.
First to my husband Chris. When I said I wanted to write a book, he simply replied with, “Okay great.” No hesitation, not even a small amount of consideration; he just offered his full support. That is very much in tune with how he’s been our entire marriage. I have an idea, and he supports me 100%. I'm so grateful to have him in my life. He’s my most valued gift in life.
Second to the two ladies who read the very rough first draft, a dear friend Latora Cattely and my darling mum Carolyn Wallace. They read the entire first draft while attempting to assist in editing. I've never been good with anything grammatical related, but they assisted me where they could. For this, I'll be eternally grateful.
Third, to friends in this industry, my editor, Krista, and my author friends who encourage me in a way only they can, since they know how hard this industry is. Thank you! I love you all.
This book was originally written to be shared amongst my friends, but with the support of the people mentioned earlier, I published my story so others could immerse themselves in Noah’s world. I hope you enjoyed it!
