The Nameless One Page 2

by Lily Adile Lamb

Faine was shaken to his core to learn that this was a true story, that a being actually suffered this fate, that a creature with no name was cursed to live in a bottle. He bit his lips as he thought and then slowly nodded his head. “Yes, please.”

At first, he heard nothing but the owl calling for his mate, and then the trees started whispering and moaning to tell the nameless creature’s tale.

  Chapter Four

He lived in a realm where crime was relatively unknown. If there ever was a crime, it was so rare that very few Elders remembered one. The Elders made sure there were severe consequences when the traditional laws were broken, laws steeped in a culture and heritage that spanned across thousands of lifetimes. After all, these laws were made for the wellbeing of the Kingdom. Break the law of the Elders at your peril.

He had no name. You see, he was never given a name because, in the opinion of the Elders, he had not earned the right to have one. The ones with families, who appeared virtuous and obedient, were given meaningful and beautiful names. However, when these so-called virtuous ones were alone with the nameless one, they mocked him, beat him and led him astray.

“You, nameless? How come you have blue eyes? I heard your mother was punished for it? Do you know what happened? I bet she was never allowed to see you before she was kicked out, eh?” Bahadur was named accordingly as he was a brave youth. Yes, he was brave, but also liked to torment the nameless orphaned one.

“No! She was good and kind. She is in heaven now. I know she held me when I was born, for I felt her one and only kiss on my head.” He was young then and would shake in anger as he shouted. Some of the young ones, Bahadur and his friends, knew how to take advantage of his impetuous nature, and his need for acceptance. When one of the Elders heard his discordant shout in the quiet cave, they would stand still with their heads down in silent glee, watching the nameless one being punished as a lesson. Once they had their fun, they would turn their backs on him, calling him foolish, leaving him locked in the coldest cave.

The nameless one did not remember his mother nor her loving hold, but he imagined she did hug him before she was punished and sent to heavens for her shameful action. Oh. How he wanted to be hugged at least once on a cold day, or when he was hungry for the warmth of loving touch. All he heard was what the Elders told him, that she was not worth mentioning because of her disrespect of their law.

He guessed his sire was not from their realm, because his eyes told everyone that he was of mixed race. He often wondered, whether he was alive, or was he with his mother in heaven? Once the nameless one’s punishment ended, he would hide in his dark cave, and dream of a different life, where he had a name and a family…

As he grew older, he realized why life was harder for him. He was the only one who had no family, and the only one who gazed at the males with lust. He felt all wrong, because his peers did not want to mingle with him. Eventually, he spent more and more time staying in his cave, creating little fire balls that blazed bright in his hands, moving his wings gently to manipulate what he’d created. As the years passed, he became stronger and more proficient in his infernal powers, learning by trial and error, all by himself, for he had no one to guide him.

Once an Elder had told the nameless one that the color of his eyes was the evidence of his mother’s betrayal of her own kind. At the time, the nameless one did not understand the meaning of that, but years later, the others youths who bullied him made him understand what that meant, and why he never saw his mother. The Elders had punished her for being with a male from outside their realm, and according to their law, this was an unforgivable crime.

One day the Elders called everyone into the hall.

“A human has requested a hearing and will come bearing gifts. Young ones, we order you to stay away from the human.”

That evening, everyone listened to the stories of how the humans who entered their realm were greedy, and came to make their dark desires come true, and rarely had kind wishes in their hearts. And so the young ones, including the nameless one, feared the human even before he arrived, in case he came with evil deeds in mind, because their kind were peaceful. Therefore, they all agreed to hide from him as much as possible.

That night the nameless one went to his cave with worry in his heart, but he was also consumed by curiosity.

The next day, all the young ones hid in the corners to watch the gate of their realm. Normally it was just another stone wall, but in anticipation of a visitor, the wall came alive, its surface rippling, until the cold stone melted and formed a gate, revealing the metal and gems buried within, silver and gold and onyx, but bubbling hot and shimmering with heat.

They approached it from time to time, but were too scared to touch it in case it harmed them. And besides, the three guards at the gate would never let anyone get that close. The guards were ferocious-looking; their wings, that when folded looked like a thick cape, were alit with flame today.

The nameless one wasn’t sure how the guards knew the visitor was about to arrive, but somehow they did. They suddenly tilted their heads back to give a warning howl for the Elders, scratching at the ground with their claws. The sound they made gave all the young ones a shudder, all different-toned howls that were used to summon the Elders. The sounds of their wings flapping, the growls and the scratching echoed and rebounded around the cavern. The nameless one gasped and hid behind a rock, wrapping his wings around his body in fear.

The Elders arrived almost at once, and stood side by side behind the guards, waiting quietly. The nameless one watched in fascination at the way the hot gates rippled and bubbled, then started pulsing as if it had a heart. It was then that the gate began to open, and he saw a dark shadow on the other side.

The nameless one thought the shadowy figure was slimmer and shorter than his breed, which increased his curiosity. He watched the figure coming closer to their realm, his appearance becoming clearer. Last night they’d been told that the humans were a weak and ugly lot, but this one was so handsome, with his sinewy body and long, curly, fire-colored hair, the likes of which none had ever seen in this realm.

The human’s hair reached his shoulders, the wildness of the curls making the nameless one think that each strand must have its own mind. The nameless one couldn’t take his eyes off the man, watching how little sparkles twinkled in his hair, brightly reflecting off the ceiling of the cave. The man was of the light, as his skin had a golden tan, unlike his own almost translucent skin.

The human had deep green eyes, that reminded the nameless one of the leaves on his favorite berries, and the man’s lips were as full and red as the berries themselves. The nameless one thought of his own bright blue eyes, white straight long hair, and wide thin lips that were nothing like the human’s.

The nameless one sensed that, although the human was handsome, he was also sly and greedy, for the man kept watching his surrounding with a glint in his eyes. His smile resembled more of a smirk, as if he knew something others didn’t. The nameless one knew that the Elders were wary of him, as they stood closer to each other before they asked him the reason for his visit.

Oh. The human’s voice was so soothing and clear, with a musical intonation that made the nameless one want to close his eyes to listen to him.

“Greetings, I come bearing gifts for a small request from your humble selves.”

“We’re here to receive your request, human. Speak before you show us your gifts,” the Elders responded in unison in a lyrical manner that showed their respect.

“Kind Sirs, I am just a humble magician of the castle, but it breaks my heart to see what the future is showing me… You see, it is my job to read what the future brings to our nation, and I saw something terrible… An unspeakable evil our king will bring upon ourselves. I see Gods angered at his greed and extravagant ways and bringing famine by next summer.”

The human looked down as he spoke, never keeping eye contact. The nameless one watched the Elders sitting still while the human refuse
d eye contact in an attempt to look devastated. It was no good, for the man clearly lacked in honesty, but his slyness did nothing to dim his attraction.

“Tell us how you saw the future, human,” the Elders asked together in a stronger, colder voice, “as it is not in our ways to see the future, nor do we believe in this.”

“You see, ever since I was a young man, I dreamt of the future, and now I dream of my king bringing us to our demise. If I was to become the leader of our kingdom, I know I would protect the people and the riches the king is using only for himself.”

The nameless one could see that he was smooth and polite, as he explained how he would work so hard to make his kingdom grow strong and help his people to thrive. But the man had trouble keeping eye contact, and that did not bode well, even to a young one like himself. His Elders now stopped and just stared at him.

When the man finished talking, the Elders sat in silence for a while. The nameless one knew they were communicating internally, but the man clearly did not know this, and took their silence as an acceptance of his explanation, for he sat back and smiled. The gate no longer pulsed and had returned to stone again. In the end, the Elders nodded before they spoke, rather slowly with reluctance.

“You are welcome to share a meal with us and we shall contemplate overnight upon your request, human. We shall tell you about our decision tomorrow morning, as our custom demands.”

The human nodded his head as he thanked the Elders and followed them to the dining hall.

  Chapter Five

The nameless one walked at the back of his people, just in front of the man. This was his place, for not having earned a name, because of his mother’s deeds, and because of his attraction to other males. The whole time he walked, he felt the human watching him, which gave him tingles all over… Oh, what an exciting feeling that was for him, to feel the tingles and the shivers that came not from fear but something else.

The Elders sat at the long stone table, facing the human alone on the other side. The nameless one hid behind a rock and watched the man’s delicate eating habits. He used his fingertips to pick the berries and the nuts, unlike his own kind, who shoved handfuls into their mouths. Whenever the man laughed, the twinkling sound of his voice made his private man parts twitch, just as they twitched when he woke up in the mornings. The nameless one dared not let anyone know what he did with his privates when they twitched in the morning and at night. He wanted to do the same thing now, as he watched the human laugh and eat.

Fearing that the Elders would catch him spying from behind, the nameless one slithered toward where the young ones stood at the far corner. As he neared his peers, he noticed the human watching him furtively. Oh, the tingling sensations felt amazing when their gazes met. This was the first time that the nameless one felt lust from another one toward himself, and it was exhilarating. The forbidden fruit suddenly became even sweeter for him.

When the man smiled at him discreetly, the nameless one turned red, causing flames to emanate from his skin, which brought the Elders’ attention onto him. This was another broken rule, which was not to be tolerated, so when the Elders saw it, they silently pointed their fingers, sending him to his cave.

It was unacceptable to show emotions in public, and the nameless one did nothing but show emotions, but he couldn’t stop his wings flaming a little when he heard the females whispering to each other as he walked away. “Poor nameless. He’s so good-looking and so sweet. It’s sad to watch him looking hurt. It’s a shame he likes the males and not us as his life time mate.”

He silently flew to his cave, but couldn’t stay there long, before he snuck off to secretly watch the human. When the dinner was finished and all the fruits were eaten, the Elders escorted the human to his sleeping quarters, at a far corner where there was no one else.

The nameless one followed them from a distance. The Elders walked with the human, for the human could not fly, so he climbed the walls and ceiling of the caves behind them. He sidled through tight crevices, and slithered on his belly across open spaces. Sometimes an Elder would turn, catching movement out of the corner of his eye, and the nameless one would have to crawl under the uneven rock beside the waterfall, or stand still behind the stalactites, to blend with the shadows.

Once the Elders left the human, he watched the human take off his clothes, layer by layer. First, he took off his long fur coat, and the nameless one held his breath when he saw how muscular the human looked. When the man took his tunic off, he felt the familiar stirring in his leather pants. The nameless one’s hand went to his crotch to tease himself while he watched the human take off the singlet and the pants. He had no hair on his body but the small thatch of hair surrounding his cock, which was different from the nameless one’s, because his kind had no body hair.

The nameless one took a sharp deep breath at what he saw, for the man was so tempting and masculine. The man heard him, for at that moment, the human spun around and called out to him.

“Come out, wherever you are!” The man’s voice was strong and powerful, making the nameless one shiver and feel ashamed of being caught. He might have been young and foolish for following his heart, but he wasn’t stupid. He released his grip from the high ceiling, and dropped gracefully to stand in front of the man.

“I thought it was you. I noticed how you kept watching me. And my, aren’t you a handsome one,” the human almost crooned, as he watched the nameless one stand still with his head high. His wings quivered, wanting to set themselves into flames, but he used all his power to prevent that. He felt his heart flutter from excitement and trepidation, but he stood still without looking at the human. Ohhh. The tingling and the shivers overwhelmed him when he felt the human come near him, circling around from behind.

“Ahhh… So proud, too… May I touch you?” the human whispered, as he leaned towards the nameless one from behind, making him shiver. That was the first time someone had touched him with no intention to hurt him, but for pleasure only, and the first time anyone had asked his permission to touch him. The nameless one’s breath hitched as he nodded his head. Ohhh, the man’s touch was a spine-tingling and soul-stirring pleasure. The nameless one held his breath and closed his eyes, enjoying the sensations the man caused and hearing his every wondrous whispered compliment.

When he felt the man’s naked chest against his back, all the nameless one could do was whimper, having never felt anything so intimate. His whole body wanted to turn into flames, but he dared not, because he’d heard humans were a fragile lot, being easily burnt and breakable.

“It’s intriguing... Your skin appears to be thick and hard from a distance, but when I touched you, you are soft, almost velvety,” the human murmured, rubbing his nose against the nameless one’s back. When he felt the man’s fingertips sliding over his wings, he softly moaned. He didn’t realize his wings were so sensitive to touch.

His young heart hammered, making his breath hitch at each touch and raising the very fine wispy translucent hair on his skin. The human’s touches felt deliberate, as if he liked to tease and play. The nameless one stood frozen with fear that the man might stop touching him and walk away.

“Please turn to me, and tell me what your name is.” The voice was confident and seductive. The young one felt helpless and forgot all about his pride. When he turned, he found the human on his knees, close to his body, which aroused him in a way he never experienced before. He was almost mesmerized at the way the human stared at his body and touched his crotch tentatively.

“My. Oh. My. Even the tough leather pants can’t contain you, my mighty one,” the human whispered without taking his gaze away. His eyes shone in glee and mischievousness as he cupped and squeezed the nameless one’s burgeoning cock.

“You like that, my mighty one? You still haven’t told me your name and age,” the human repeated again while he stroked and squeezed.

“I am two hundred and forty-five years old, and I have no name.” He moaned, not caring about anything, becau
se all he could feel was the hand that was playing with his cock. He didn’t even realize that he was rocking his hips against the small but firm hand. The nameless one thought it was a wonder that he was not on the floor, melted in the fire he struggled to contain in his body. The human’s touches made his body tighten in a special way, and all he could think about was the pleasure that was soon to engulf him, leading to an explosive pleasure like the one he experienced when he touched himself in the bed.

When the human undid the nameless one’s front laces and let his man part spring out, he groaned and closed his eyes.

“I want to pleasure you, and then make you mine, my handsome one. Shhh…No sound... We can’t let the Elders hear us now, can we, for I have many plans to do things with you,” the human commanded in his honeyed voice.

“Too late for that,” rumbled the growls mixed with hissing and moaning in different octaves. “We already heard you two.”

  Chapter Six

The ten Elders spoke together as they clambered over the walls and ceiling, simultaneously saying the same things but in eerily different tones and volume. The sounds they made must have been frightening, judging by the way the human wet himself. If the nameless one was honest, the Elders looked terrifying to him, too, never mind how they must look to the poor human.

The man whimpered and cowered in terror. He pointed at the nameless one. “He came here. I didn’t call him.” The nameless one felt his insides melt from sheer terror at their rumbling growls and screeches. His Elders looked like they were made of lava. He’d seen them angry before, but never like this. The lava dripped from their bodies, as they held on to the walls and the ceiling like bats. Each drop sizzled and melted small pebbles and stones on the ground.
