Book of the Underground Page 29

by Cody Hyde

Ted didn’t stop to hesitate as he ran through the halls of the dark castle on his hunt for Dultona. He couldn’t wait one more minute to put an end to the evil Dark Master.

He eventually came to the two big doors leading to his throne. He opened them and stepped inside...

“Where are you, you evil bastard!” he yelled out.

A demonic laugh was heard. “Ted Grey, I’ve been expecting you,” spoke Dultona from the other side of his throne. “I knew you’d eventually return to my castle…they always do.”

“You know what, how about you just stand up and show yourself already!” responded Ted.

“Stand up and show myself?” He laughed again. “I only show myself to those who are willing to fight. You think you are prepared to fight me, Dultona, the Dark Master, Ruler of the Underground?” questioned Dultona evilly.

“Why do you think I came here?”

“Well, you’ll have wished you’d thought twice.”

The lights around the room then got brighter than they ever had been before. A heavy breeze blew throughout the room.

This is a moment Ted has been waiting for for years. He was actually going to get his chance to fight the Dark Master.

Dultona grabbed what appeared to be a jagged red sword from the side of his throne, now visible since it was so much brighter in the room. The sword scraped against the floor of the room as he picked it up.

Dultona stood up from his throne. His body was revealed to have some sort of silver armor over his red-colored skin. His horns appeared to be a lot more yellowed now that they were visible as well. And then Dultona stepped around his throne to be completely visible....

What was revealed to be a tall, buff demon in armor with slit-like eyes and deep black nostrils, his horns high and his teeth sharp and yellowed, stepped out from behind his throne. He grinned, staring deeply at Ted. The Dark Master was no longer cloaked in darkness.

“So that’s what you look like in the light,” commented Ted.

“Like a cold-blooded killer,” Dultona responded. He laughed again, evilly. He then scraped his thick jagged red sword against the walkway leading to his throne as he took a few steps toward Ted. “

Well, you definitely are ugly,” commented Ted.

Dultona growled in anger. He was offended.

“What, did I offend the Dark Master?” He stopped.

“You’ll wish you would have never said that.”

“Oh, really?” replied Ted, putting up his sword. “Let’s see what you’re made of!” And with that he ran towards the Dark Master with his sword out in front of him.

The Dark Master held his sword high. The show was on.

As soon as Ted reached the spot where he stood, he made the first move, throwing his sword against Dultona’s, who blocked it.

Dultona forcefully swung his sword back up into the air and twirled the other way, hitting him from the other side, his sword meeting Ted’s sword again.

The moves continued. Ted and Dultona’s swords continued to swing against each other. It was a perfect match.

For a second Dultona about stabbed Ted right in his chest, but Ted swiftly back-flipped into the air, getting some distance.

Dultona roared again. Then the creepy part happened. What appeared to be enormous red wings shot out from under the armor on his back. He really was the Dark Master, the most powerful demon in the Underground.

With his wings spread, Dultona shot straight up into the sky and landed back down right in front of Ted.

Suddenly, the doors to the room opened again. Charlie, Sheila, and Rocky had arrived.

“Ted!” yelled Charlie and Sheila in unison.

Ted and Dultona both turned to look.

Charlie stared at the enormous figure of the Dark Master. This was the first time he had actually seen him out of the darkness of his throne as well.

“I see you’re friends are here to save you!” teased Dutona.

Ted swiftly took another swing at him, who blocked his swing with his own sword again. They continued to duel some more.

Charlie, Sheila, and Rocky watched from where they stood.

“You-cannot-kill-me!” roared Dultona in anger a word at a time with each swing.

Ted front-flipped, landing on the opposite side of where Dultona stood. Then probably the worst thing happened.

Without warning, Dultona turned around and in a flash threw his sword at Ted, letting go of it.

As soon as Ted stood completely up, before he could turn around to notice, the sword came flying directly at him.

“TED!” Charlie and Sheila cried in unison as they witnessed their fellow friend and brother collapse to his knees.

The thick and jagged red sword had been thrown through his chest.
