ROXY: Shit. Do I hear the baby crying?
KEATON: Um. I don’t hear anything…
ROXY: Shit. Okay. Forget the snacks. You have exactly ten minutes to duck me sideways and then we get the kids up and put on Finding Nemo.
KEATON: You are my soul mate. And I’ll only need two minutes. On my way.
ROXY: Babe? Is there an untranslatable word for this feeling? Of how lucky we are? About how you think you couldn’t possibly have any more love in your heart but then every single day you do? More and more. I love our family so much. I love our friends. I love our life. I still worry that you’ll never know how much I love you because I still can’t find the right words. Tell me you know.

Author’s Note
1. If you have not already read my other Brooklyn/NYC books, you will find Chase and Aimee’s story in Tonight You’re Mine (where Keaton is an ass); Matt and Bernadette’s story in Come Back to Bed; Vince and Nina’s story in Rebound with Me.
2. There is a wonderful little coffee table book called LOST IN TRANSLATION: An Illustrated Compendium of Untranslatable Words from Around the World by Ella Frances Sanders. Not all of Keaton’s untranslatable words are in here, but most are. It’s a sweet little book.
3. The word that Keaton didn’t know how to pronounce is: Mamihlapinatapei. According to Wikipedia, it is listed in the GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS as The Most Succinct Word. A Yaghan noun, defined in the book LOST IN TRANSLATION as: A silent acknowledgement and understanding between two people, who are both wishing or thinking the same thing (and are both unwilling to initiate).
4. The Coco Beach Resort in Antigua is inspired by this gorgeous corner of the internet: http://www.cocoshotel.com/ If you go there, send me pics!
