The Connect Who Took My Heart Away 2

by Coco Shawndé

Still drunk, I knew I wasn’t making it upstairs. Looking at Obasi, both of his hands were shoved in his baller short, and he was laid back with one foot kicked up on the sectional. I could see his hard dick print, and my pussy got to throbbing away. Pushing every clear thought to take my ass upstairs away, I crawled up to Obasi. His light snores, chiseled chest, and fresh cut...I was finding my lips on his. He didn’t move, and I removed the black dress I had fallen asleep in. In nothing but my boy shorts now, I straddled him, feeling his dick jump and hit the center of my pussy. With a light moan escaping my lips, I held his face while I grinded into him, and smashed my lips into his.

Feeling his dick stand up, I rotated my hips around, and started to kiss his exposed neck. When he came to, his hands went to my hips. When I looked at him, the look in his eyes when he noticed what was going down, he quickly pushed me off him.

“Miani! Why you naked?!” he said, like I was a disgust to him.

Feeling played, I was frozen. Here I was putting myself on this man, and he couldn’t even look me in the face.

“Mane, go!” he said looking the other way, and pointing to the stairs. With nothing but stuttering coming from my mouth, I felt ashamed. I had been lusting after him so long, and in the end, he wouldn’t even lay eyes on me. “I don’t want that from you! Why would you even-” he cut himself off, and I could hear in his voice how disappointed he was.

“I’m sorry, Basi.” I said with my dress in my hands and tears in my eyes.

Getting the approval to move into my own apartment came right on time. From the drunken night I had where I came onto Obasi, I knew it was overdue. Obasi kept his distance, and I knew coming to his own house was now dreadful because he couldn’t look at me the same. For him to turn me down like that, I knew our friendship was dead since I attempted to cross that line.

Packing me and my son up didn’t take nothing but a day to do since we didn’t have much. It took another week for the furniture to arrive, and Dice was the one to thank. I didn’t have a dollar to my name, but she gave me the cash as a signing bonus for working at the Royal’s, so I would take it. Lord knows I needed it, and I was glad to be on my own.

Staying in the hood, I didn’t even care. As long as I had my own. We stayed right on Bellefontaine Road, and it was close to the highway. Dice had Easton for a few days, and came today to drop him off. My baby had been awfully quiet, and Dice wanted to get him out of the house and around other boys. It seemed to help because he came back in a better mood.

“Mom, why can’t I never go outside? You always make me stay in.” he complained while I cooked dinner. He hadn’t been home a good hour and he was wanting to hang outside.

“Because this isn’t like our old house. You can’t go outside unless I’m with you.” I explained. He was so used to the suburbs, he didn’t know the dangers of just playing on the playground. The first night here he asked why were people popping fireworks, and I had to lie about that. I knew the difference from gunshots and fireworks. My son just didn’t.

“I hate it here!” he said balling his fist up.

“Easton!” I said turning to face him. Him raising his voice surprised me, but Dice had warned me how little boys could handle a trauma like losing their father. “Who you raising your voice at?!”

“I just want to go outside.” he cried with tears coming down, and pointing to the door. “Mom? I just want to go outsideeeee.”

“Go wash your face and stop crying.” I said defeated.

He did as I said, and came back with his chest puffing up as he was trying to steady his breathing because he had worked himself up that much. “Go outside. But when the food is done, you have to come in. Don’t go too far off.” I warned, and watching him run to the front door.

“Thank moms! Love you!!” he said flying out the door.

“Love you too, son.” I said turning back.

Continuing with my meal of lasagna, salad, and garlic bread, I got a call from Dice. We had been on the phone damn near all day, and she was thinking about coming over to eat with us even though she had already been this way this morning.

“Murk got C.J on the team. I can see if they have slots open still.” she said on my line, getting me informed on the little league football. Telling her how Easton acted about going outside, she thought maybe him getting into a sport with some male guidance could help. I was for of all that if it meant my son got the help that he needed.

“Please do...Easton has always been a good boy. I don’t worry about anything. The most trouble I do have, is dragging him out of bed in the morning.” I said thinking on how much his attitude was switching over. I wasn't ready for it, but I had no choice but to prepare myself for the road ahead. It would be games, school events, and holidays Weston will not be able to attend. Shit like that, I thought about. While everyone else couldn’t do anything but give sympathy, and just could say sorry for my son’s lost. Being strong was really about to be tested, and I had to take it all on, so my baby boy could make it out here.

“Girl, I hear you.” she said knowing my pains. We had bonded even more for the simple fact that she lost her husband, and I lost my baby father.

We had been talking so much on the phone, she told me all about her encounters with Hosea. I had never met him personally, but Obasi would talk to him on speaker phone when I was living in his house. All I knew was them two were extremely close and had business going on in the Clinton Peabody projects.

“How old is Hosea ́s son?” I questioned.

“If I could guess, C.J´s age.” she sighed.

“Wow.” I said knowing this wasn’t what Dice had banked on.

“I guess I had my hopes up too high with this nigga, even though I portrayed differently.” she admitted. “Seeing him in that family setting with them kids and that woman, I admit I got jealous.”

“That’s you being human girl. Not to add what all you have been through.” I said making it clear to her. “He wasn’t wrong for what he said. Y’all were fuck buddies. You use playing wife, and that’s a whole new ball game sis.”

Dice sighed, and the line got quiet.

“how' up...what time is it?” I said popping up from my couch. Going to the window, I noticed the night sky and the sun was no longer out. Going out my door with my phone to my ear, I looked around the parking lot, and my son wasn’t nowhere to be found. “He wonders why I can’t trust him outside. He said nothing about going to the playground set at the top of the hill.” I said noticing the one by my house was empty. I knew he wanted to be where the kids were, but I didn’t give him permission to run off like this.

  “Where is he?” Dice questioned.

“I’m about to find out and whoop his tail girl.” I sighed. “EASTON!! EASTONNNN!!”

Yelling his name, the park was coming into view. I was mad as hell he had me walking around this complex for him. It was cars flying through even though it was speed bumps every damn where.

“Girl he probably running around with some friends he found.” she suggested.

“Yeah, I don’t think that’s the case.” I said seeing a Mercedes Benz at the park. Not having to look any harder, I started sprinting to the park. Cars like that weren’t just posted out here.

“Miani? What’s going on??!” Dice was asking me questions while I was watching Ralph usher my son into his backseat.

“Easton! Get out of that car!” I yelled, dropping my phone from my ear. “Now!”

Ralph slammed the door behind Easton, and then our eyes connected.

“You learned your lesson yet? Come on. You look stupid not coming home. Your vacation is over with. Easton is already in the car.” he said opening up the passenger door. “Get in, Miani...NOW!!”

I could hear Dice still on the phone, and by her yelling, I knew she could hear what was going on. Putting the phone back to my ear, I went to snatch the door handle for my son. Ralph blocked my view, staring me right in the eyes.

“Get in the fucking car.” h
e hissed

“Don’t go with him, Miani!” Dice yelled in my ear.

“But-but...he has Easton. He got my baby.” I said stammering over my words.

  Obasi

It had been a few weeks since Miani had came onto me, and shit had been off key ever since. I couldn’t even look her in the face, and the shit had made everything awkward between us.

I wasn’t surprised that one day I came through, and she left a note on the counter that I could have my key back. I can’t say exactly what I felt, but the coldness in the house had shifted my soul. By all means I didn´t mean to come off harsh, but she caught me off guard coming at me like that. Shordy was a fucking dime, but I knew fucking her wasn’t something she was ready for. I could tell she would be right in her feelings if I stuck this dick in her. Our friendship would be non-existent, because she was going to have to come strong rocking with me.

Pulling up at my mothers, I knew I wasn’t tripping when I spotted Hosea and Konvict here. My mother didn’t miss a day without cooking, so these two knew just where to pull up at. With my stomach in my back, I pulled behind a white and black Porsche. Getting out, I looked at the sports car a little closer, then went on in the house. Hearing my O.G dawg and Hosea chopping it up, I walked in their direction. Seeing my mother coming down the stairs, she smiled seeing me.

“Moms, you looking good.” I said giving her a hug. “What you go get your hair done today?”

“Yeah, you know I had to do a little something.” she blushed, running her hands through her natural hair that was straightened down to her waistline. She always kept her hair long, and I don’t remember her ever wearing it above her shoulders.

“Where’s my hardheaded sister at?” I asked her.

“You know. Out with her friends like always. She comes to get clothes, then she back gone.” she shrugged, walking with me into the kitchen. Konvict and Hosea were at the island table, and I joined them, dapping them both up.

“Oletta, you know you got to stop cooking for these grown boys.” Konvict cracked on us.

“You hurr for the food too.” Hosea said putting him out too.

“Y’all a mess. The food done while y’all going back and forth.” she giggled.

Konvict was the first one hopping off the stool to get a plate.

“But you ain’t hurr for my momma food?” I said chuckling.

“I mean she cooked, I’m gon’ eat younging.” he said washing his hands.

We all got full off the red beans, rice, and fried chicken. Afterwards, Hosea was heading to meet up with his baby momma to pick up the kids. I was busy on my phone letting Tiesha know I would be through tonight when I remembered to ask my mother who´s Porsche was out front.

“Mom! Momma!” I said yelling her name.

“Boy! Don’t you be screaming my name like that.” she said rising up from the couch that she shared with Konvict. Before I could ask why the fuck they was sitting so close, I asked her about the car.

“I’mma guess a friend of your sister. I told you she been gone lately. Someone always picking her up in all types of cars. She be gone, and she’ll come when she needs more clothes. I asked her about who she been running off with, and she gets to thinking she grown. I let her be, but I told her I know she hiding some shit from me. She wants to be grown in these streets, and I tell her it’s nothing but trouble.” my mother said sounding fed up.

“Where her friend stay?” Knowing I should have been checked up on my sister. It was just us, and I had dropped the ball with staying up on everything since business been kicking off.

“I’m not sure, but I think I may have the address because she was going to have me pick her up one day, but then she told me she would find her way home. I never had to use it, but I think I may still have it.” She replied.

My mother went to the address, but in the meantime, I went to holla at Konvict. “O.G!” I said gaining his attention.

“What’s the word?” he probed, sitting up.

“What’s up with you and mom’s all close. Fuck is going on?” I asked, not beating around the bush with him. It wasn’t out the norm for him to be here, but how close they were, I wasn’t fucking with it. They needed to go back to being distant. This shit, I wasn't ready for.

“Your mom was supposed to tell you…” he started off. I backed away with my hands up, shaking my head. I couldn’t, and didn’t need to hear no more. I wasn’t mad, but I felt the shit didn’t have to come out like this. My mother came back down with the address, and gave it to me. She was acting nonchalant while sitting back down with Konvict, not caring that I was right here.

“Mom...you serious right now?” I asked.

Her head twisted in my direction, and I didn’t care that she was about to give it to me.

  “Boy! Who house you in?”

  “Yours.” I said dreadfully.

“Damn right, so you give me some goddamn respect. I don’t need you to tell me who I can be with. You my son, and I love you as such. But I don’t run shit by you.” she said pointing at me.

“Momma you tripping out. But you right. This yo crib.” I nodded. “Konvict been around though, why now?” I asked.

“Because I muthafukin felt like it!” she proclaimed.

“I’m out. You going extra now. I´ll leave you be in yo house.” I said leaving all together. Going home, I wasn’t in my house good when my mother´s car flew up in my driveway damn near on two wheels.

“AND I’LL COME TO THIS RAGGEDY MUTHAFUKA TOO, OBASI!” she yelled from the inside of her car as she parked. “You thought yo dispectful ass would just slam my goddamn door and leave!? You got the RIGHT MOMMA TODAY! I’ll cuss yo ass out anywhere I please. You don’t disrespect me and who I decide to have in my house. I don’t come here telling you which hoes need to go. Now you done got me started.” she spazzed out. My mother was crazy as hell, and I didn’t know why I even tried to win with her ass. She really pulled up at my shit on HER SHIT to give me that speech.

“A’igt mom.” I said knowing wasn’t no winning. She let it be known she didn’t give a fuck where I was, she would get in my ass with no problem.

“A’ight my ass! You almost made me knock yo head to the ground.” she said going back to her car.

Shaking my head, I needed a blunt after the show she put on and snapped out on me. Getting back in my car, I remembered I had that address on me. Burning some time on when I was going to slide to Tiesha´s house, I plugged the address into my GPS. It took about forty minutes for me to pull up into this uppity ass neighborhood. The house set so far back, wasn’t no reading the addresses. I had to go strictly off GPS, and when I found the house, I drove up the winding driveway.

Shutting my engine off, I went to the front door seeing how large the place really was. I didn’t know who my sister was hanging with, but the people had some long money. Ringing the doorbell, I waited until someone answered. I was taken aback from the white man dressed identical to a butler.

“Hello, how may I help you?” he asked, tilting his head forward to greet me.

“I’m here for Aci…” I said now standing in the million dollar house.

Waiting a few minutes, I was looking at the vaulted ceilings, marble floors, and stone statues. “Aci!” I called out, and seeing her at the top of the double staircase. She wore nothing but a sports bra and small shorts. My sister was slim, so the fact her stomach was protruding out right now, held many speculations. She knew her secrets had came to the open as she tried to walk back from the stairs. I was so pissed, I was about to walk up to her.

“What’s all this commotion going on, Aci? Whatever it is, it’s interrupting.” a grown man said, coming into view. He pointed down at me, then Aci. “Who is this man you welcomed into our home without my say so??” The way my sister grew mute and fear came into her eyes, I felt my trigger finger itch.

“Naw, Aci who the fuck is this grown man, and is you pregnant? He know you eighteen??” I asked ready to end some lives about my baby si
ster.

“She’s eighteen!” the man said raising his tone like that meant shit was cool.

“Ralph, please calm down. That’s my brother. I’m sure it’s a reason why he’s here. Did something happen to mom?” she asked, coming down the stairs.

“You pregnant?” I asked really seeing her carrying this pouch.

“Why do you care? Aci can you escort your company to the door?” Ralph asked.

“Podna, you done fucked with the wrong nigga sister!” I barked, going up the stairs not giving one fuck. “Aci, you getting the fuck out of hurr.” I said, grabbing her to me. Reaching for my strap, Aci grabbed my hands knowing if I pulled it, I was going to use it. “God want some company so you gon’ do the man up above the honors.” I said staring Ralph dead in the eye as he stood with a smirk on his face like he was God.

  Where you left off...

  Dice

Ralph´s bitch ass pulled up at the right time on the bullshit. Jumping out of my car with my 9mm, I went right to his car. He was yelling all in Miani´s face, trying to force her in the car. While he was doing so, I opened the back door, and grabbed Easton right on out. I instantly felt saddened and angered that Ralph had him witnessing this show he was putting on. When I slammed his door shut, he finally looked back. Since he was on one side of the Benz, he didn’t see my gun right away.

“Fuck is you by my car for!?” Ralph barked, sounding like he was forcing the hood to come through his voice, but he scared me none. He had the expensive brands, but they damn sure wasn’t coming together for an outfit. Who was he fooling? Not I!!!

“Dice!” Miani screamed when I lifted my gun.

“You need to get yo ass in this car, and never come back or I will shoot yo ass!” I warned him. Miani ran over to Easton, and she held him close.

“What more could you possibly take...I don’t have shit else.” Miani cried to Ralph, and that shit ate at me. The way she held onto Easton, you knew that was everything to her. As a mother, I felt that in my soul.
