  “Cool.”

“What time are you girls leaving today?” I asked.

“We have to be at the airport at 12:30.”

I knew they’d been planning to drive home for the break, but Major had insisted he buy them plane tickets and rent them a car, something about having to drive halfway across the country in December was a bad idea. He was so pussy whipped.

I pulled up to the diner and was glad when I didn’t see a line outside. We went in and sat at a booth. We both ordered coffee while Karma looked at the menu. I didn’t have to look at it since I always ordered the same thing when I came here for breakfast.

  “What’s good?” she asked.

“Everything,” I told her. She gave me a look. “Really. You can’t go wrong with anything you order.”

The waitress came back with our coffees. “Have you decided?” she asked us.

I looked at Karma, she nodded. “Go ahead,” I told her.

“I’ll have the Denver omelette with crispy hash browns and wheat toast please,” she said.

“Same,” I said. “But with white toast please.”

The waitress left and I was staring at Karma.

  “What?” she finally said.

  “It’s just weird.”

  “What’s weird?”

“I always get the Denver omelette when I come here, and you just happened to order the same thing. It’s just weird.”

She shrugged. “Whatever. It sounded good this morning. So, what are your plans for the break?” she asked, changing the subject.

“We, I mean, my parents, sister and I, are going skiing in Colorado for Christmas then Hawaii for New Year’s. We do it every year.”

“Wow, must be nice to have money,” she said, with maybe just a hint of jealousy. “I’ve never done much travelling. The sport of diving is more expensive than you’d think so most of our extra money went for that.”

I didn’t know how to respond to that. Money was never something I’d ever had to worry about. As a teenager, my sister and I had been all over the world on family vacations, so it was normal for me. I needed to remember that wasn’t the case for everyone.

“What are you doing over the break?” I asked.

“Probably catching up with friends from high school mostly,” she said. “Of course, there’ll be the family dinner for Christmas. Nothing as exciting as Hawaii.”

“You want to come with us?” I asked, before thinking.

Karma laughed. “As fun as that sounds, my parents would kill me if I didn’t spend my first break from college with them. And besides, we’d probably kill each other.”

“Yeah right,” I said, trying to make a joke of it, but I’d been serious. What the hell was wrong with me?

We started talking about nothing important and soon the food arrived.

“Oh wow,” Karma said. “This looks amazing.”

She took a bite and moaned. That sound took me right back to last night.

“Good?” I managed to say, like I wasn’t thinking about fucking her right here on the table.

“So good. I’ll have to remember where this place is so I can come back.”

Putting all my concentration into my food, I willed my semi-hard dick to go back to normal. I really didn’t want to walk out of the diner with a hard on.

We finished eating and true to her word Karma tried to pay for breakfast, but I was faster. I threw thirty bucks on the table and stood up. She gave me an amused look but didn’t say anything. I think that might have been a first.

“Thanks for breakfast,” she said, when I dropped her off at her dorm. “And have a good trip. Think of me when you’re lounging on the beach.”

Thinking about her wasn’t going to be the problem. Trying to forget about her was.

  Chapter 3

  Karma

The alarm on my phone went off and I did my best to make it stop. I tried to grab it off my nightstand, but ended up knocking on the floor. By the time I picked it up the alarm had stopped and started again. I finally hit dismiss and looked at the time. It was 5:30am and I had practice in thirty minutes.

As I slowly got out of bed, I thought about the last two weeks. It had been good to go home and see everyone, but I was actually glad to be back at school.

Today was the start of my second semester at Bay State University. I still had a hard time believing that I was here on a full ride scholarship for diving and that my best friend was here with me. While I was on the dive team, Kayleigh was on the swim team, but it was nice that we got to practice and compete together.

I met her in the main area of our dorm room. She already had our morning smoothies ready. We drank them on the way to the Davenport Swim Complex where we practiced and competed. I still thought it was funny that her boyfriend’s parents were the ones who donated the money to have it built. We didn’t know who Major was when we first met him and had no clue that he was beyond wealthy. It took a while, but Kayleigh and Major finally figured out their feelings for each other and were now practically inseparable.

Major and Bodie had grown up together, just like Kayleigh and I did. I think Kayleigh was hoping that Bodie and I would become an item, but I didn’t date seriously, and I was pretty sure Bodie didn't date at all. Don’t get me wrong, he was gorgeous as fuck, but he was a player through and through.

After practice, I got ready for the day. I had three classes today and I was looking forward to seeing if I got any hot professors to stare at for the rest of the year.

  ****

“So, you’ll never guess who’s in two of my classes this semester,” I said to Kayleigh, as I walked into our dorm room.

“Bodie,” Kayleigh said, with a smirk.

“You’re no fun. How did you know?”

“Major told me. I guess Bodie was already complaining about you.”

I threw my bag at her. “He was not complaining about me, he loves me,” I said, with a wink. “I didn’t even talk to him.

“I think that’s what he’s complaining about,” she said with a grin. “Are you ever going to tell me what happened between you two?”

“Nothing happened. He’s a player and I guess so am I. End. Of. Story.”

Kayleigh looked at me like I was lying to her, and I was. No one knew that Bodie and I had had sex, and especially that I lied about it. I was doing my best to forget the whole incident.

Did I like Bodie? Sure. He was nice enough and of course he was hot, but so were ninety percent of the guys on campus and I wasn’t about to spend all my time with one guy. I liked sex, a lot, and I liked trying out different models so to speak. I knew Kayleigh still didn’t understand that, but it was just how I was built. I liked variety while she was a one flavor kind of girl.

“You’re thinking awfully hard over there,” Kayleigh said, interrupting my thoughts. “You wouldn’t happen to be thinking about Bodie would you?”

“I was actually thinking about sex.” I grinned, just to get to her.

Just as I had planned, she blushed. Even though Major had helped her a lot, Kayleigh was still on the shy side whenever the word “sex” was mentioned.

“Whatever. Shouldn’t we get going to practice?” she said, rolling her eyes and changing the subject.

I laughed at her. “Yeah, I guess we should.”

I went to my room and changed into my bathing suit and then threw on some yoga pants and a sweatshirt. One of the things I liked best about going to school in California was the winter. Back in Oklahoma I would have needed a jacket and shoes but even in January I could still wear my flip flops in California.

On the way over to the swim complex, I asked Kayleigh about her first day of the new semester. She was disappointed she didn’t have any classes with anyone she knew. I told her she would just have to make a new friend or two. But after the whole Wes incident I knew she was reluctant to do that, and I couldn’t really blame her.

When I opened the doors, I breathed in the familiar scent of chlorine. The pool wa
s my second home and it still amazed me that I got to go to school and be on the dive team. Kayleigh and I put our bags in our lockers and jumped in the pool for warm up laps. Two hours later, practice was over, and I was starving.

“Major invited us out for dinner,” Kayleigh said, checking her phone as she got dressed. “Want to go?”

“Sure, it’s a free meal and probably better than what we can get in the cafeteria.”

If we were having dinner with Major, that meant Bodie would most likely be there. I just had to remember that he was my best friend’s, boyfriend’s best friend. That was how I needed to think of him, not all hot and sweaty as he made me come. I didn’t want to be the one that made it awkward to hang out as a group.

“Okay, cool. I wasn’t sure if you had plans or not tonight,” she said, texting Major back.

  “No, not tonight.”

“So, what’s-his-name from last month didn’t make the cut?” she asked.

I laughed. “No. He was way too vanilla in between the sheets.”

“I don’t want to know,” Kayleigh said.

“I mean he only wanted to do it one way, how boring is that?”

“Okay, I’ll give you that one,” she said. “So, I guess that means you’re on the hunt again.”

“Yep. Time for a new flavor of the week,” I said, with a wink.

Kayleigh just shook her head at me. We were complete opposites, but I think that’s why we were still friends after all these years.

“So, what are the plans for dinner?” I asked. “Staying in or going out?”

“Major said something about a new restaurant.”

“Going out, good. I’ll get to wear those new skinny jeans I got on the weekend. You should wear yours too. But not with the boots. I don’t want to watch Major picturing you with nothing but those boots on,” I said, faking a repulsed shudder.

She laughed at me, but promised to not wear her now favorite pair of boots thanks to Major.

At 7pm we were both ready and met Major in the lobby of the dorm.

“Beautiful as always,” he said to Kayleigh. “And Karma, looking hot as usual.”

I just smiled and shook my head at him. If he wasn’t so in love with Kayleigh, I would have come back with a smartass comment, but as was typical now, he wouldn’t even respond to it.

Bodie was in the truck waiting for us. Kayleigh and I hopped in the back and Major left the parking lot. A few minutes later, we stopped in front of a place called Pasta Italiano.

“It smells great in here,” I said, when we walked in.

  “It sure does,” Kayleigh agreed.

The hostess showed us to a table, and I had to smile when I saw our waiter. He was hot.

“I’d sure like to give him a tip,” I said with a wink, after he took our drink order.

“Do you ever stop?” Bodie asked.

  “Huh?”

“Is every man just an object to you?”

“Sure. Kinda like women are to you. I can’t help it if you’re offended by the way I think about sex. The double standard thing is getting kind of old.”

“What double standard?” Bodie asked, looking confused.

“You’re serious, aren’t you?” I shook my head. “If a guy has sex with a different girl every night, he’s a player. If a woman does it, she’s a slut. Double standard. Why should someone’s gender define how much they enjoy sex? Women like sex, Bodie. I’m just okay saying it out loud. What’s got your panties in a twist?”

“Nothing,” he mumbled, and picked up the menu.

I looked at Kayleigh and she just shrugged. I guess that I wasn’t the only one that thought Bodie was acting weird. But I wasn’t going to let it get to me. I found what I wanted on the menu and by the end of dinner I had the waiter’s number.

Major dropped Bodie off at their dorm and walked with us to ours. It wasn’t a surprise that he was spending the night. He spent more time in our dorm than I did.

I plopped down on the couch and looked at my phone. I smiled when I saw a text from the waiter.

“He text you already?” Kayleigh said, with mock surprise.

“Yeah, he seems like fun,” I said, smiling.

“How could you possibly know that from the ten minutes he spent at the table?’ Major asked.

“Because his text told me how cute I look in these jeans.”

Major shook his head at me.

“I’m going to bed,” Kayleigh said. “You have fun with your new toy.”

Kayleigh and Major went to her room. I stretched out on the couch and spent the next hour texting Waiter Guy.

  ****

  Bodie

Why was I letting her get under my skin? I never let any woman get to me. Everything was fine until we’d had sex. She said she doesn’t remember, but I do. What really pissed me off about it was that it was probably the best sex I’d ever had. If I’d known she was that drunk, I would have taken her back to her dorm and let her sleep it off. I never would have brought her back here.

My phone dinged, bringing me back to the present.

  Major: You ok man?

  Me: Ya

Major: You were pretty quiet at dinner

  Me: I said I’m fine

Major: Ok. See you tomorrow asshole.

I threw my phone down on the couch and turned on the TV. Unfortunately, the TV wasn’t the distraction I was hoping for and my thoughts went back to a naked Karma. She wasn’t like the girls I normally slept with. Karma had an athlete’s body, but she had enough curves to hold on to. Her tits weren’t huge, but I still remember the hard, pink nipples in my mouth.

Shit, I was getting hard just thinking about it. It was time for a cold shower and tomorrow I was going to have find a new chick to fuck. I had to get Karma out of my head.

  ****

Getting her off my mind was going to be harder than I thought when she walked into my Spanish class the next morning. She had a sexy sway in her hips that made me think about sex.

“Hey,” she said, dropping down in the seat next to me.

“Hey,” I said back, trying not to sound annoyed.

“Do you and I have a problem?” she asked.

  “Are you always so blunt?”

“Yeah, I find it saves time.”

That actually got a smile out of me. “No, we don’t have a problem.” So, that might have been a half-truth, but I was trying to make my life easier, not harder.

“So, what was your problem at dinner last night?”

  “I didn’t have a problem,” I lied.

“Yeah, sure you didn’t,” she said sarcastically. “You didn’t even notice the hot blonde at the next table trying like hell to get your attention.”

“Just had some things on my mind. No big deal.”

“Fine, don’t tell me. I’ll figure it out eventually,” she said, with a smirk.

“You know you can be very irritating?”

“I know,” she said. “But either you love me or hate me. Which side are you on?”

  “I haven’t decided, yet,” I said, truthfully.

  That just made her laugh.

The professor came into the room and spent a few minutes telling us about what to expect for the class. I didn’t pay much attention, until she said we’d have to find a partner for the whole semester. Before I could even think about it too much, Karma was talking to me.

“Looks like you and I are going to be partners,” she said.

  “Huh? What? No.”

“Um, yes,” she said stubbornly. “Would you rather have that ditzy blonde over there?”

I looked to where she was pointing and shuddered. She looked like the clingy type. At least with Karma, I knew what I was getting.

“If we do this, don’t expect me to do all the work,” I told her.

She laughed then proceeded to start speaking to me in fluent Spanish. I had to admit that I was impressed.

“Where did you learn that?” I asked.

  “I’ve been taking
Spanish since seventh grade and have friends back home that are Mexican. Truthfully, most of what I know I learned from them.”

“Okay, I’ll let you be my partner,” I told her, and she just rolled her eyes at me.

I could do this. Karma was just another girl. We had a few classes together. She was in our circle of friends. Now all I had to do was pretend I never had her hot body pressed up against mine. Fuck, I was so screwed.

  Chapter 4

  Karma

I was still laughing about getting Bodie to be my partner, when I walked into my dorm room hours later.

  “What’s so funny?” Kayleigh asked.

“Bodie and I have to be partners in Spanish for the whole semester,” I told her.

She looked confused. “I don’t see why that’s funny.”

“I think he’s trying to avoid me, but I won’t let him.”

“Um … okay,” she said, but I could see she still didn’t get it.

“You know me and my strange sense of humor,” I told her.

Kayleigh just nodded. The truth was, I liked Bodie as a person and since Kayleigh and Major looked to be a forever item, I thought it was time we got to know each other better … with clothes on. I was doing my best to forget that night, but it was proving more difficult than I thought it was going to be. At random times, I found myself thinking about what his head looked like between my legs and the feel of his sweaty body when he collapsed on me.

Later at practice I’d messed up on my third dive in a row.

“Karma,” Coach Everett yelled. “Get your head in the game. We have a competition in less than two weeks.”

“Someone is bitchy,” Gabbi whispered to me, when I got out of the pool.

“You mean Coach Everett?” I asked. She nodded. “No, she was right. I’m not doing my best today.”

“I thought your last dive was great,” she told me.

“I over rotated so I didn’t land right. I need to do better if we’re going to beat Greenfield College. I hear they have a really good team this year.”

“What are you doing after practice?” Gabbi asked me.

  “Probably just hanging out. Why?”
