Diving in Deep (A Bay State University Novel Book 2) Page 11

by Katie Holland

Once everything about the Karma situation was gone from my phone and laptop, it was time for me to hit the shower. When I got back to my room there was a text from Major telling me it was done. I could finally relax. It was still early for me, but I guess once the tension was gone about spying on Karma my body thought it was time to shut down because I fell asleep on top of my covers.

  ****

After last night’s video incident, it seemed appropriate that my first class the next morning was Psychology with Karma. Any other girl would have been embarrassed about sending the wrong person a video of them masturbating, but not Karma.

“Enjoy the video?” she asked, sitting down next to me.

  “Yes. You?”

“You bet,” she said, with a grin.

“Only you, Karma, you know, that right?”

“Life’s too short to be boring,” she said.

“Nothing is ever boring when it comes to you,” I told her. “So, any special plans this weekend?”

She grinned, knowing I was referring to the text from last night. “Anthony asked me to spend the whole weekend with him.”

“That’s nice,” I said, without meaning it.

“Are you going to continue to be a dick about him?”

“Until he gives me a reason not to, yes.”

She muttered something about men then class started.

  ****

“What are you up to tonight?” I asked Major later that day. “Wait, don’t tell me. You’re going to be with Kayleigh all weekend because Karma will be gone.”

He grinned. “Yep. Wait, how’d you know that?”

“I have two classes with her today, it came up while we were talking.”

“Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that. How about you? Hot date?”

“Yeah, no. Since this thing with Karma started, I haven’t thought about anything else.”

“Bodie, that was only 5 days ago.”

“It feels like months,” I admitted.

“At least it’s over. You should go out and celebrate. Get laid or something. Have you had any pussy since the last time we talked about this?”

  “That’s none of your business.”

“That means no,” Major said. “What the fuck dude? Last semester you were getting laid every few days. What’s going on?”

“We also went to at least four parties a week. Well, we did until you got all wrapped up in Kayleigh. Not that that’s bad, just an observation.”

“So, you can go party with Chad and Zach. I know they still hit every party they can find.”

“It’s just not the same without you,” I said and batted my eyelashes at him.

“Fuck off,” Major said laughing at me. “Seriously though, go find a random girl to fuck, you’ll feel better.”

Sex was usually a great way to fix my mood, and it had been two weeks since I fucked that girl, I practically ran over leaving class. Major was probably right, so I pulled out my phone and sent a text.

Me: Got any hot friends I could fuck?

  Tiffany: Seriously Bodie????

  Me: Yes. Seriously.

  Tiffany: No.

Me: I don’t believe you. I’m sure you have a friend or two other than me.

Tiffany: Of course, I have friends other than you, but none I’m willing to subject to you sticking your dick in them and leaving.

That made me laugh out loud.

Me: Fine. I’ll guess I’ll have to find someone on my own.

  Tiffany: Have fun with that

  Me: Oh, I will!

Then I texted Zach to see what party they were going to. He told me which frat house it was, and I let him know I’d meet them there.

It was still early, and I had a few hours to kill. Any normal guy would go get something to eat or play video games, but what did I do? I started finding out everything I could about Anthony Pagano. I know Karma liked him, but I’d told her the truth about the vibe I got from him. Something wasn’t quite right, and I intended to find out what it was.

My ringing phone made me look away from the computer. It was Zach.

“Hello?” I said, not sure why he was calling me.

“Dude, I thought you were coming to the party?”

I checked the time. I’d been at my computer for hours. “Fuck, I lost track of time. I’m on the way.”

I quickly changed into a pair of ripped jeans and tight black t-shirt. I put on some cologne and made sure my hair looked good. In a matter of minutes, I was downstairs and walking out the door. I stopped in my tracks when I saw Karma standing on the other side of the doors.

“Karma?” I questioned. “What are you doing here? I thought you would be with Anthony.”

“I was supposed to be, but he stood me up. No call, no text, nothing. And he’s not answering his phone either,” she told me.

“Do you want me to go kick his ass?”

  “Not just yet.”

“Okay, so what are you doing outside my dorm?”

“I didn’t want to be at the dorm with the love birds, so I just started walking. And here I am. Are you going somewhere?”

“I was headed to a party. Want to come with me?”

“Sure, but I’ll have to change first.”

“You look great,” I told her.

“I can’t go to a party in leggings and a crop top.”

  “Why not?”

  “It’s not party attire.”

“Are you looking to get laid or have a good time?” I asked.

“Have a good time,” she said.

  “Then you’re ready. Let’s go.”

I took her hand and led her to my car. I knew I was going to have to watch out for her tonight. There went my plans for getting laid.

  Chapter 17

  Karma

I had waited for hours for Anthony to pick me up and when I realized he wasn’t coming I was furious. That was beyond break up material. Unless he had a very good reason, I was done with him.

Needing to leave the apartment, I started walking around campus. I got a coffee, ate dinner, and then found myself in front of Major and Bodie’s dorm. I’d only been there a minute before Bodie came walking out. I guess that was good timing because I found myself in his car on the way to a party.

“You’re looking good tonight,” I told him.

He chuckled. “I literally got ready in two minutes. I was supposed to meet the guys and lost track of time.”

“Playing with your dick?” I asked.

Even in the dark car I saw him roll his eyes at me.

“No, I was doing research,” I told her.

  “Boring.”

“Yeah, kind of, but now we’re about to party.”

We parked on the street and walked to the frat house. Nothing got me going like hearing the loud music and the heat from so many bodies packed into a small space.

“You go do your thing,” I told Bodie. “I’m going to dance.”

I didn’t wait for a response and made my way to the makeshift dance floor. Just needing to blow off some steam, I started dancing, not caring if anyone joined me or not. I smiled when I felt a pair of strong hands on my waist. Turning around I was surprised to see it was Bodie.

“What are you doing?” I yelled above the music.

“Keeping the sharks away from you.”

“What?” I said not getting what he was saying.

“Every guy in this place is watching you Karma. I’m staking my claim, so they leave you alone.”

“What if I don’t want to be left alone?” I challenged.

“Did you break up with Anthony?”

  “No, but we weren’t dating.”

“That’s bullshit Karma, and you know it. I’m not going to let you do something you might regret tomorrow. There might be a really good reason he stood you up.”

“Why are you defending him? I thought you didn’t like him.”

“I don’t. But I like you and I don’t want you to make a mistake just because you’re mad.
Okay?”

  “Fine.”

He had that look on his face that told me it would be pointless to argue with him. Besides, all I wanted to do was dance and Bodie wasn’t a bad partner to do that with. We danced for over an hour before taking a break. We both needed a drink. I got water and I noticed Bodie did too. Another hour of dancing and it was time for me to go. I still had practice in the morning.

“Can you take me home?” I asked Bodie.

“Sure. Let’s go,” he said, and we left the party.

He unlocked the car and I got in before him. With the interior of the car lit up I could clearly see the outline of his dick in his jeans. He got in the car carefully. I giggled and reached my hand over the console and put it in between his legs.

“What the fuck are you doing Karma?”

“I noticed it looked a little tight in there,” I said smiling.

“That tends to happen when a hot woman shakes her ass at me for two hours. But why were you touching me?”

“Don’t you want me to touch you?”

“Fuck, Karma. Of course, I do, but you’re dating someone and until you aren’t, your off limits.”

I took my hand back. “I guess you’re right. I’m so used to flirting and not being in a relationship I flirt without realizing it.”

A laugh escaped his mouth. “I hate to break it to you but that’s way more than flirting.”

I let my head fall back against the seat. “I don’t know what to do Bodie.”

“What are you talking about?” he asked, and started the car.

  “About Anthony.”

  “Exactly what about him?”

“Forgive him for standing me up or kick him to the curb. Fuck, I don’t even know if I can do a relationship.”

“Whatever you do, don’t make any decisions tonight. Sleep on it. Go to practice in the morning and then see how you feel.”

“That’s actually good advice,” I said smiling. “I thought you didn’t do relationships either. What makes you so smart about them?”

“My sister had a lot of relationships in high school and college,” he told me. “I overheard a lot of conversations between her and my mom.”

“I don’t know whether to feel sorry for you or congratulate you.”

“Definitely feel sorry for me. My sister thought it was funny to tell me all sorts of things a teenage boy really didn’t need to know about girls.”

“I think I need to meet your sister; she sounds awesome.”

“The two of you never need to be in the same room together. I wouldn’t survive,” Bodie said seriously.

I started cackling. “Oh my God, now I really have to meet her.”

Bodie just shook his head and I laughed harder. By the time we got back to the dorm, I was in tears.

“Oh God, I needed that,” I finally said.

  “Feel better?” he asked.

“Yeah. Thanks for this. I needed to get out.”

“Anytime,” he said. “I’ll walk you to your dorm.”

“Actually, do you mind if I stay with you tonight?” Bodie started to say something, but I stopped him. “I’ll sleep on the couch. I won’t cause any trouble. I just don’t want to sleep in my bed when I was supposed to be gone. Please,” I begged.

  “Fine. Come on,” he said.

  “You’re a lifesaver, Bodie.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m a real fucking prince.”

I laughed and we started walking towards the dorm.

  ****

  Bodie

Why had I just agreed to let Karma stay in my dorm room? I wasn’t normally a sucker for punishment, but when she practically begged me to let her stay, I gave in. It was going to be torture knowing she was so close, but I couldn’t touch her.

“You can have my bed,” I told her when we walked in. “I’ll sleep on the couch. Don’t worry, the sheets are clean.”

“I’m not taking your bed, Bodie,” she said.

“Yes, you are. You still have practice in the morning, and you need sleep, so you’re taking the bed. Just let me change first.”

I guess she decided not to argue with me since she stopped talking. Going into my room, I changed out of my jeans and found a pair of basketball shorts to put on. Then I grabbed a pillow and blanket and went back to the living area.

“It’s all yours,” I told her.

  “Bodie,” she started to say.

“I’ll be fine on the couch, honestly. And besides, I’m not tired, so I’ll probably watch some TV.”

“Okay. Thank you. Good night,” she said, and disappeared into the bedroom.

I threw my blanket on the couch and ran my fingers through my hair. I hadn’t had sex in two weeks, watching her moving on the dance floor had my dick hard, and now she was probably laying in my bed in her bra and panties … and I was out here alone. I must be being punished for something I did.

Checking the time, I saw that it wasn’t even midnight yet. I wasn’t tired and I wasn’t sure I’d sleep even if I was. I turned on the TV and a few minutes later my phone dinged.

  Zach: Where are you man?

  Me: At the dorm

Zach: What the fuck dude? Thought you were going to party.

Me: Long story but I had to make sure Karma was safe.

Zach: Whatever but you’re missing out on some hot pussy

  Me: Fuck off asshole

I knew he’d be laughing at that because I would be if I was in his position. I turned my attention back to the TV and tried to find something that interested me.

I must have dosed off at some point because I was woken to the sound of Karma yelling.

“STOP! Let me go. HELP! Someone help me.”

I ran into my room with my heart trying to jump out of my chest, afraid that someone might actually be trying to hurt her. Thankfully, she was the only one in the room when I opened the door. She was having a nightmare, but that didn’t slow my heart any. I tried shaking her, but she didn’t want to wake up.

“Karma,” I finally yelled, and turned the lamp on.

It took a minute, but she realized where she was.

“Are you okay?” I asked her.

  “I’m so sorry, Bodie.”

“Nothing to be sorry for, but you need to tell me if you’re okay or not.”

“I’ll live,” she said. “I haven’t had a nightmare like that in years.”

“It must have been bad. You looked terrified and I couldn’t get you to wake up.”

“They’re bad when I have them,” she admitted. “I really hate to ask you this, but could you stay with me? I won’t be able to get back to sleep if I’m alone. Mom or dad would sleep in the recliner in my room so I could go back to sleep. We don’t have to cuddle or anything like that. I just need to know someone else is close.”

“Of course, I’ll stay with you,” I told her. How was I going to say no to that?

I went back to the couch and got my pillow. Karma moved over and I got under the covers with her. I was glad she was wearing a shirt.

“Is that my t-shirt?” I asked.

“Yeah. I hope it’s okay that I borrowed it. I wanted something to sleep in.”

“No problem.” I turned off the lamp.

“Thank you Bodie,” she said quietly, and turned over.

  ****

  Something was making a noise.

“What the fuck is that?” I mumbled.

I heard giggling beside me. “My alarm,” Karma said, and got out of the bed.

She made it stop. I opened my eyes in time to watch her shimmy into her leggings and change back into her own shirt.

  “What time is it?”

“7:30,” she said. “I’ll let myself out. Thanks for everything Bodie. See you Monday.”

She left the bedroom, and I heard the door to the hallway open and close.

My thoughts went back to last night and Karma’s nightmare. From what she said, she used to have nightmares often enough that her parents had a chair in her room just t
o sleep in. It was probably none of my business, but that seemed like more than just a nightmare, it seemed like a memory. The look on her face told me she was completely terrified. I didn’t know if I’d be able to find anything out, but I planned on doing some searching.

  ****

“Get the fuck up,” Major yelled, from my doorway.

I guess I’d fallen back to sleep. “Why?” I mumbled.

“Because I need to talk to you.”

I could tell by the tone of his voice he wasn’t going to leave me alone until I got up. Throwing off the covers I got out of bed and left my room. I could smell coffee.

“Here,” Major said, handing me a cup.

“Thanks,” I said. “Now, what’s the fucking emergency?”

“Karma spent the night here.” It wasn’t a question.

  “Yeah, so.”

I had no idea where this was going.

“She has a boyfriend, you asshole.”

It took me a minute to figure out what he was saying. Then I got mad.

“You think I fucked Karma? While she’s in a relationship. Fuck you, Major. I may be a player but I’m not a goddamned douchebag.”

“So, you’re telling me you two didn’t share a bed last night?”

“Where are you getting this information from?”

“Karma came home this morning and I overheard part of a conversation between her and Kayleigh. She had said that after she was stood up, she went to a party with you and then you shared the bed with her.”

“Well, I guess you didn’t hear the whole thing. I was leaving here last night, and she was outside the dorm. She told me about Anthony not showing up and I offered to take her to the party with me to cheer her up. I danced with her and didn’t let anyone else near her. I didn’t want her to do something she’d regret because she was mad. I drove us back here and she didn’t want to be alone and asked if she could sleep here. I was asleep on the couch, alone, when she had a nightmare. She was fucking terrified and asked if I would stay with her. We slept in the same bed, we both had clothes on, and we stayed on our own sides. Happy?” I said with anger in my voice.
