Resurrected

  Merlin came towards me. She asked, “Iveil, why are you sad?”

  “Merlin, I cannot imagine that you have broken up with the person whom you loved the most.”

  “Iveil, you think so much about my happiness.”

  “Yes, Merlin you are my only friend. You have always been like an angel in my life; I got a decent life because of your kindness,” I said honestly.

  Merlin looked at her parents and then looking back at me said, “I have no idea about what is in your heart but I have a clear heart which tells me that you will be a perfect husband for me. I felt in love with you since you started acting as my fake boy friend in order to change Alex. Will you marry me?”

  I was shocked on hearing this. I said, “Merlin, I have only loved my family. I do not think I have loved anybody else besides them. You are my very good friend.”

  “That is enough, Iveil. If you can love me as a friend like you do now, you will always keep me happy.”

  Merlin’s father also approved it. He said, “Iveil, I am very sure that you will never hurt my daughter. Even after my death, she will lead a contented life with you. Do you accept your friend Merlin as your life partner?”

  I blushed looking at Merlin. I said, “Yes Merlin, I also feel that you are the only person who will understand me and value my worth. I am comfortable and at ease only with you besides my family.”

  Merlin’s mother gave her the diamond ring which was previously given by her to Alex on engagement. She asked Merlin, “At this moment of joy, make Iveil your fiancé.” Merlin took the diamond ring and placed it in my ring finger.

  After a year, Merlin and I got married. I was appointed as a Director in the company of Merlin’s father. Within few years, with my hard work I earned, Best Entrepreneur award. I raised the company profits three-fold and everybody was proud of it.”

  Merlin said, “Even after twenty years of our marriage, I have a married life which is full of love, respect and merry. I am proud to let go of the wrong person and welcome a deserving person into my life.”

  CHAPTER 27

  BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, AND REACH FOR THE STARS

  An announcement was made at the party.

  “Ladies and gentleman, please welcome the students of KNK Dancing Classes. They have come here to capture your attention with their dancing skills.” Everybody clapped to welcome them. They danced so well that everybody’s eyes were stuck on them. When they finished dancing, one of the students took the mike and announced, “Now our dancing teacher Miss Rota Rock will come and perform on a song.”

  Everybody started clapping to welcome the dancing teacher but very soon the claps faded away when they saw a beautiful young girl in her 20s coming on to the stage with a walker, she had only one leg. She handed the walker to one of the students and balanced herself perfectly. When the song began she danced extremely well on just one leg. Everybody in the party hall gathered to look at this young dancing teacher balancing all her acts on just one leg. She danced continuously for about fifteen minutes. After the song got over the audience gave her a standing ovation. She went towards the mike and said, “Thank you everyone for showing me your love. My name is Miss Rota Rock. I was born in a small town. Since I was a child, I had keen interest in dancing. My parents came to know this and I was enrolled in a dancing school when I was seven years old.

  One unfortunate day, when I was sixteen, I met with an accident. When I was returning from my dancing classes; a speeding car hit me. I was thrown far away. My leg was badly injured. The people on the road rushed me to the hospital. I was saved but my leg was amputated. I was extremely disheartened because my dream of becoming a renowned dancer started fading.

  A few months after this accident, my father also passed away, I went into depression. My mother was the only person to help me survive. She would keep inspiring me to not give up on my dreams just because of the hurdles which life had thrown. She gave me many inspiring and motivating books to read. She helped me to overcome the feeling of inferiority, of being a handicapped person.

  I rejoined my dancing classes. My teachers and colleagues were very co-operative and loving. They never made me feel that I was different from the normal people. My life got back a meaning to survive. I had realized that it was much difficult for me to dance quickly like other students because of my one leg. It became an obstacle for me so I worked hard to keep my balance. At home I would spend hours to learn balancing myself on one leg. After months of my hard work, I could balance myself perfectly on one leg. Now I could dance perfectly just like normal students. I started participating in the state level dancing competitions and would win gold medals.

  Finally after a few years, I started KNK Dancing Classes. I succeeded in building a good reputation and goodwill for my classes. I have more than five thousand students and have established my classes at many more places. I am satisfied and completely happy with my life. The reason behind my success is the love of my dearest mother. I would like to give out one message to all of you. Let no obstacles in life prevent you from realizing your dreams. Have faith in your talent and keep moving ahead.”

  The audience once again gave her a standing ovation. After it got over, everybody once again got busy enjoying the party. Afrin and Zaib were busy chatting with everyone.

  Merlin looked at Afrin and asked, “Now share with us the story of your life. How did God design your destiny?”

  Hearing this Afrin smiled at her. She took Zaib’s hand in her own hand and said, “Merlin, our lives were not easy. Zaib’s life especially was full of sacrifices for me.”

  “Okay but, tell us your entire life story,” Merlin asked curiously.

  At this Zaib looked at Afrin. They smiled and said together, “Read our novel, Resurrected.”

  CHAPTER 28

  NIGHTMARES CAN COME TRUE, TOO

  After being through many bad days, Zaib got the love of his life, Afrin as his wife. Married life was going on very smoothly. Zaib never let Afrin and Rose miss any second of their lives without being happy. He was a prosperous entrepreneur but at the same time, he would also devote lots of time to his family.

  One day Zaib went to Afrin and said, “Afrin I am leaving right now. I have to attend an important meeting in China. I will return after a week. Please take care of yourself and Rose. I will keep in touch with you.” He kissed her and left the house.

  Afrin made her Rose eat her dinner and go to sleep. She put off the lights, prayed to God and went to sleep.

  After an hour she woke up. Tears were rolling down her cheeks. She took the phone and called Zaib. Her phone was not answered. She kept calling him again and again but still no answer. She had a deep feeling that soon something bad might happen. She got out of bed and kept strolling. She crossed her fingers and prayed to God.

  At that time the phone rang. She rushed to pick it up. Zaib had called her back.

  “Afrin, you haven’t slept yet?” Zaib asked.

  “Zaib, where are you?” Afrin asked. She was breathing fast.

  “Afrin, is everything fine?” Zaib got tensed.

  “Yes, everything here is fine. Where are you right now?”

  “I am in the plane. It will take off soon,” said Zaib resting himself comfortably on the seat.

  “Please come out of the plane. Leave this flight,” Afrin spoke with her voice cracking.

  “Why Afrin? I am going to attend my business meeting. I will be getting a big business deal.”

  “Zaib, please get off the plane immediately,” Afrin spoke and her heart was beating furiously.

  At that time, there was an announcement in the plane, “Please tie your seat belts properly. The plane will take off soon.”

  “Afrin, why do you want me to get off the plane? It is about to take off.” Zaib got irritated.

  “Zaib, please just leave the plane, if you truly love me.” Afrin begged him.

sp; “Okay fine,” Zaib replied with disheartened voice.

  He took his luggage and went near the door but it was closed, he went to the air hostess and requested her to open the door.

  She asked, “Sir, are you sure that you want to leave? The plane is about to take off.” Everybody kept staring at Zaib. He felt very weird. For once he felt like going back to his seat but then he remembered Afrin’s words, “Please do it if you truly love me.”

  He looked at the air hostess and said, “Please open the door I need to leave soon.”

  The air hostess spoke to the pilot. The door was opened and Zaib moved out of the plane with his luggage. He was confused with Afrin’s weird approach with his business trip. He felt that Afrin might be suspecting his visit. Many negative thoughts were rising in his mind. He sat on a bench at the airport and called Afrin.

  “Afrin, I have left my flight just because of you,” Zaib spoke very sadly.

  “Thank God! Now come home soon,” Afrin felt better after knowing that Zaib had finally left that plane.

  In mid-night Zaib reached home crestfallen. Afrin realized it. She confronted him by saying, “Zaib, I stopped you from going because I had a dream in which I saw that you were about to die in the plane.”

  Hearing this Zaib got more irritated. He said, “Afrin you have made me leave the flight just because of your dream. If death is destined then nothing can prevent it.”

  Afrin felt stupid about her decision. She knew that the dream might have been wrong. She looked at Zaib and said, “I agree that my dream might not be true but some dreams warn us about misfortune that takes place in future. We can prevent the unfortunate event.”

  Zaib did not believe in dreams. He got more irritated and told her, “Afrin, if you will keep on living in dreams then you will never live in reality.” He went away angrily.

  Next morning, he got up late. He saw his wife glued to the television in the hall.

  She looked up at him but he ignored her. He went to the kitchen and had tea. He later went to the hall and picked up his cell phone.

  Afrin looked at him and asked, “My darling, are you still angry with me?”

  Zaib heard it but turned a deaf ear towards her. When he saw his phone, there were so many people who had called him on his phone. Zaib felt that he would be scolded for not attending the meeting. He wondered how he would convince those businessmen by saying that he did not come because his wife had a bad dream.

  At that time, the phone rang and Zaib with shivering hands picked it up. He said, “I am very sorry but I will not be present in the meeting.”

  But he was surprised by the reply from the opposite side. “We are extremely happy that you are safe.”

  “What? I didn’t get you!” Zaib exclaimed in surprise.

  “Don’t you know that the Kartika Airlines flight which left yesterday evening has gone missing? When we came to the airport to receive you, we were told that there was no sign of that plane. It was missing. So, we all called you but you didn’t receive the call. We were really very worried.”

  Zaib’s face lit up on hearing that he would have died the day before if had he gone in that plane. Zaib looked at the news channel with the heading Missing Plane.

  Zaib went to Afrin and started crying. “Afrin, I am very sorry I was so rude to you. I am alive today because you acted upon your dream.”

  Afrin took his face in her arms and comforted him saying, “It’s okay, my darling. I am thankful to God for saving you. I am very glad that you had left the plane and your business deal to prove your love once again. I am very fortunate that I have you with me for the rest of my life.”
