Diary of a True Alpha Page 20

by C Y Jones

“Hey there, little one,” I whisper, and kiss the top of his blonde head. In response, he nudges his head against my breast searching until he finds what he wants and takes my nipple in his mouth and starts to sucks.

“Just like your fathers, always hungry,” I chuckle.

Logan is still at my legs, but his hold on his emotions slip, and I could feel his worry. Immediately, I grow concern.

“What’s wrong and don’t try to lie to me or bullshite me?” I order.

“The last pup, we don’t know if it’s going to make it,” he replies.

My heart hurts. It’s not like it isn’t common. We’ve already beaten the odds with the three pups that have made it, but I was greedy and wanted them all to survive. A contraction hits, and I scream, this time not able to hold it in. The pain is intense, worse than what I’ve felt so far, and it goes on longer than with the others. When it stops, another contraction hits me, not giving me a chance to rest, and I close my eyes, squeezing hard. The babies on my chest and the one Mekka is holding all start to cry at the same time, and as if their cries called out to their sibling, lighting the way, gushes of wetness come out of me, along with a tiny wolf’s answering call.

Doc takes the shifted pup, and I hand the other twin off to Ethan. When Doc finishes, he sets the fluffy white wolf on my chest and her ice blue eyes blink at me. If I thought the others eyes were unique, I didn’t even have a word for hers. They were absolutely breathtaking. An artic blue that reminded me of the frozen lake outside rimmed with the same Caribbean blue as the twins at the edges with tiny flecks of gold like stars. Her pure white fur was beautiful. She was the only girl and the smallest, the runt in the litter, but like the others, she was perfect. She was here and alive with the help of her brothers. I smile and kiss her furry head and she sneezes. A wisp of white leaves her mouth, and the side table next to the bed freezes over. We’re all still as the realization hits us all at once. Mekka studied for months with no luck on how I was able to freeze Axil, and I’ve never been able to replicate the power. Now I know why. It was never my power in the first place.

“You, my sweet little girl, saved me,” I murmur against her fur, and a tear slips from my eye. As soon as the tear hits her fur she looks up at me with intelligent eyes and shifts to her human form. I stare in awe at her blonde hair so light it looked white, and hold her and her brother close. Doc takes over for Logan patching me up, and we each hold one of our pups we brought into the world. We had no clue who was the father, but going by their features, I would say all three of them were. It happens sometimes where more than one sperm from each sire takes. It’s rare. As rare as soul bound mates and having abilities, so of course my pups would beat the odds. It doesn’t matter, nor would we ever check. We’re a family no matter what.

  Epilogue

A Year and a Half Later

  Aspen

“We can’t,” I whisper, laughing. “What if the kids come in?”

“They’re too busy terrorizing the staff,” Ethan replies as his hands move under my skirt, toward my center.

Since having the pups, life has been very busy. After a week of recovery, I had to step back into my role as Alpha, juggling my growing family. It hasn’t been easy I can tell you that, especially when the pups were just learning how to crawl and shifting in between their human and wolf forms.

After the pups were born, the pack threw a huge celebration to celebrate my miracle of bringing four Alphas to our pack, all of them True Alphas, yes even Kenzie the runt of the litter, our little ice princess. She has grown nicely in her own skin. She’s still smaller than her brothers, but if you look closely at their dynamic you would quickly learn that she’s in charge. We learned later on that they all developed special abilities. Justin and Jace, the twins and official heirs’ of the pack, held control over the weather and could shoot lightning out of their tiny palms. It was quite the scene when they threw a combined tantrum and started a thunderstorm outside over the last cookie. Ryder developed abilities over the Earth. Out of the four, he’s the most sensitive and in tune with nature and his surroundings. We learned he had abilities when they just turned six months old, and Jace accidently burned a tree down. Ryder held his tiny hands down where the tree once stood and a new one sprouted in its place. They’re all special in their own way and thick as thieves, as siblings should be. If you mess with one of them, you better be prepared to deal with all of them.

Ethan,” I moan when his fingers find the treasure they were searching for and I rub up against him. His mouth moves to my neck, and he’s just starting to suck when the door bangs open and a flash of white runs inside and dives under the bed.

“What the bloody hell?” I shout as Ethan moves his fingers.

“Where is she?” I hear shouted from the hall before an angry Knox is standing in the threshold of the doorway.

“What’s wrong with you?” Ethan inquires, raising his brow.

“Where is she? I know she’s here,” he growls instead of answering.

“Who’s here?” I ask, trying to keep a straight face.

“That little hellion you spawned. She froze my room, and now half the books in my library are soaking wet.” Hum, this isn’t good. Knox loves his books, they’re like his kids, and damaging books is never a good thing.

“I didn’t mean to,” a voice whines from up under us, and Knox narrows his eyes.

When he crouches down and starts to go for the bed, three little bodies barrel through the door and jump on his back.

“You leave Kenz alone,” Jace cries, wrapping his tiny arms around his uncle's neck.

“Bad unckie,” Justin follows, wrapping his whole body around Knox’s leg. Ryder having sensed where Kenzie is hiding, goes straight to the bed and pulls her out, and she holds onto his hand like a vice. Her white blond ponytail is crooked and she has dried tears running down her cheeks, but the look in her artic eyes is mischievous.

I can’t help it, I start laughing and so does Ethan. The scene in front of us is too funny. I know our pups aren’t saints. We learned very quickly how much trouble they can get into. Putting on my stern mommy face, I clap my hands and yell, “enough.”

All eyes turn to me, even the ones of the adults as I pushed Alpha power in the command.

“Kenzie, did you freeze your uncle's room?” I ask gently.

“Yes,” she admits, lowering her eyes.

  “Why?” I question.

“He looked sad. I wanted to make him not sad and build a snowman with him like Olaf, but my power went wonky and froze stuff instead.” Ahh hell, how can you get mad at that? Kenzie loves Frozen and she was only trying to cheer Knox up.

“Sweetie, it was nice of you to want to cheer him up, but you shouldn’t use your abilities in someone else's space alone until you have better control over them,” I explain, softening my voice.

“What does control mean?” Justin asks, letting go of Knox’s leg and plopping in his lap when Knox sits up. Jace still has ahold of his neck, and he wraps his legs around him like Knox is his personal monkey gym. They’ve all grown so quickly. Developing far quicker than human kids their age.

“It means you can use them without them going wonky,” Ethan explains.

“Oh,” Jace mumbles, and he looks so cute as his lips form a small O. All these kids are going to be heartbreakers. They already had the whole pack wrapped around their fingers.

“Kenzie, what do you say to your uncle?” I prompt.

“I’m sorry,” she mumbles, looking down at her pink painted toes. Knox gazes in her eyes, and his anger deflates just like that. He holds his arms out, and she lets go of Ryder’s hand and runs right into them.

“Come on,” Knox says, once he releases her. “You lot are going to help me dry out my books.” Happy they’re not in trouble, they all jump up and run from the room towards Knox’s.

“Are you ok?” I ask him before he leaves. I know since getting out of rehab last year it’s been a hard adjustment. I’m proud
that he was able to kick the habit, but I know more than anything the road to recovery isn’t easy. His has plenty of demons chasing him, one being a human nurse he may or may not have a crush on and refuses to speak about.

“I’m fine, sweetheart. You need to worry less about me and focus more on those heathens of yours and not be in here trying to make more. I don’t think our pack could survive it.” With that, he leaves as I blush at getting busted and Ethan laughs his arse off.

“It’s not funny,” I chastise, slapping his shoulder.

“Yes it is,” he says, kissing me softly.

  Brian

“This better work, witch, or it’ll be your head,” I growl, tired of this.

This is the tenth mage we’ve found who said they could free our Alpha from his ice prison. Two years worth of failures. I went to a lot of trouble to find this particular witch. She was hiding among the humans, disguising her scent to smell like them. I was told the line she originated from was once very powerful, so that is the only reason I bothered to seek her out in the first place, and now that she’s here, I have doubts she can get the job done.

“It’ll work better if you stop breathing down my neck you overgrown giant,” she snaps, and I growl at her tenacity.

I usually don’t go for headstrong girls, but I find her intriguing. When I found her, she was mourning some human boyfriend that was killed by a mate of that bitch Aspen. At first, she didn’t want to help me, not like she had any choice, but once I explained I could help her seek her revenge, she was more than happy to comply. A willing captive is much better than an unwilling one.

“Lanley, you’ve been at this for an hour now. My patience is running thin with you,” I retort.

The bitch ignores me and continues on with mumbling nonsense and sprinkling herbs on Axil’s ice encased body. The ice has been preserving him, so we’ve been keeping him in a freezer unit, only taking him out each time we bring a new witch in to perform their magic on him. Each time I watch on and my hope gets smashed to pieces with each failed attempt. Fed up with this shit, I’m about to throw her to the mercy of my wolves when the ice starts to glow and thump, and when you listen closely you could hear a heartbeat. His heartbeat, my Alpha. Renewed hope surges once more through my body, and I actually have faith that she can do this.

She starts to chant louder, and the ice grows brighter and brighter until I had to look away from the brightness. The sound of shattering glass, or in this case ice, meets my ears and I turn my gaze back on my Alpha. The ice surrounding his body has shattered and littered the table he’s laying on in tiny shards. I stare amazed at the rise and fall of his chest, and the color blossoming his pale skin. He’s alive. She fucking did it. Excited, I grab the witch and kiss her hard on the lips. She’s surprised at first, but quickly gets into it, kissing me back. My hands move to explore her body and a voice next to me drives me to go still.

“If you fuck her, can you at least go in another room?” A rough voice grumbles.

Turning my head, my eyes meet a grey gaze I haven’t seen in a long time. I’m struck dumb that he’s actually alive and speaking.

  “Alpha,” I mutter.

“That’s me,” he snarks, groaning as he sits up. Despite the pale skin, he looks exactly like the last time I seen him. Perfectly preserved in the ice. I move to help him, but he holds his hand up stopping me. “Aspen?” He inquires. Of course, that bitch would be the first thing he thinks about. For the life of me, I can’t understand what his obsession is with her.

“Still in Wolfhaven. Happily mated and has birthed four True Alpha heirs, all with special abilities.” He grinds his teeth agitated. I know how badly he wanted to be the one to sire her pups. He knew she would birth powerful offspring, and he was right in that aspect.

“How long have I’ve been out? Where are we with the business? What happened with the council?” He asks question after question, not giving me a chance to answer. I know how much he likes being in control and the not knowing must really be fucking with him.

“You’ve been under for almost two years. The business is still thriving, we’re just working in darker circles, mostly using the dark web instead of out in the open as before, and Brannon and Ebert were branded as traitors and sentenced to death. Brannon escaped, Ebert was not so lucky.”

“Well, we have some work to do then,” he replies, getting to his feet. “And who are you?” He asks, acknowledging Lanley for the first time.

“I’m the witch that saved your life when no one else could,” she answers haughtily.

“And what do you want from such a feat?” He growls.

“Nothing much, just revenge on the bitch whose mate killed my boyfriend,” she spits venomously.

“Does this bitch have a name?” He inquires.

“Yes, one you know very well. Aspen fucking Wolfhaven.”

“Well, it looks like our paths were meant to cross. We can both make sure Aspen and her mates suffer painfully for what they have done to us, that is if you’re capable of doing what’s required,” he says, dangling the carrot right in her face and without a beat, she grabs for it.

“I’ll do whatever you need,” she voices. Her voice hard and filled with promise.

“Then Lanley, you and I have a deal.” He nods at her and turns to me. “Take her to the main house and find her a room. Make sure you let the others know I’m alive and well, and she has my protection.”

“Okay boss,” I agree, motioning for Lanley to move forward.

  Axil

Once in my room, I take a long hot shower. Having been unfrozen for an hour now, my body still feels like it’s freezing. I’m still reeling over the fact that she got the best of me, that she got away. Again. I wasn’t strong enough to defeat her. I laid all her weaknesses at her feet, but I failed to acknowledge my own. The one I’ve been harboring since I first laid eyes on her. I loved her. I loved her more than anything in this world. This deep all consuming love that took over my body and made me do stupid things. Made me forget just who I am. What I’m fucking capable of. It’s a weakness I’m glad to say I don’t have anymore. How easily love can turn to hate. I’ll get my revenge on Aspen and her mates. I’ll take those pups of hers and raise them as my own, then all will be right in the world. Enjoy your freedom Aspen, it’ll soon be coming to an end. Vengeance will be mine.

  The End… For now.
