“Mhm, yeah,” I said, as he thrust back and forth, slipping his dick in and out of me, while my pussy tightened around him. At the very last moment, he pulled out, letting his warm cum drip down my face, while I licked my lips, tasting every drop. He wasn’t finished with me just yet. He rubbed harder over my swollen clit, and I screamed out in pleasure, just as I came. I laid there unable to speak, sweaty and absolutely satisfied. He collapsed onto the pillow next to me, kissing me passionately one last time before we called it a night.

We woke just a few hours later to a knock on our door, who I quickly assumed was Jack.

“You know, when I said for you guys to get a room, and some rest, I didn’t think you’d be out cold for so long,” he shouted from the other side of the door.

“We’ll be out in a few, Jack. Go get yourself something to eat,” said Aleksandr, his voice still sounding rather sleepy.

“Alright, boss,” he said, sarcastically as I heard him walk away.

I chuckled as Aleksandr lifted my chin to kiss me, while we were both naked, pressed up against each other after the wonderful time we had last night. It was a great break from the troubles we were facing the moment we set foot outside of the door, and there was a part of me that wished we could stay like this forever.

We got up and each had a shower, getting dressed in the clothes we were wearing the night before, before meeting up with Jack who had three coffees and a bag of pastries in his hand.

“Thank you,” I blurted, hearing my stomach growl.

“Not a problem, Irina,” he replied with a laugh, handing me a coffee.

“So, where do we begin?” asked Jack, addressing Aleksandr directly.

“We head to the site. Get in the car, Jack. We’ve got business to attend to,” Aleksandr said, and Jack shrugged his shoulders, getting into the back seat, leaving the passenger seat for me.

We arrived at an underpass a while later. I peered out the dirty car window, trying to make out what was happening out there. I saw two figures opening up the back of a truck before they started carrying out cases and transporting them to other vehicles.

“Stay put,” said Aleksandr, and this time I didn’t want to argue with him about it because he had Jack alongside him. I felt a bit better knowing that he wasn’t going at this alone, and I was quite curious to actually see him in action. Every time I’d experienced it in the past, it always happened so fast that I never had the chance to appreciate it for what it was. He was so calm, so able-bodied, and ready to take on the hulking men transporting Edik’s product. I watched as Aleksandr and Jack both pulled out their guns at the same time, catching them off-guard at the very right moment.

“Drop it,” I heard Aleksandr say.

“You don’t want to do that, Volkov. He’s going to come for you,” said the man still holding onto his case, afraid to let it go.

“I highly doubt he’s going to make it here before I have the chance to blow your head off,” he said, cocking his gun back, ready to start firing off shots.

“On the ground,” said Jack, and the two men complied. They put their hands over their heads, surrendering even though I knew that Aleksandr and Jack had no choice but to take them out, for the fear that they’d take information back to Edik. The last thing we needed was to not cover our asses, and we had to make sure that we got out of every phase unscathed. I watched as Aleksandr started firing off shots straight through each and every one of their cases, destroying the drugs on the inside, which was undoubtedly going to cost Edik thousands of dollars. I smiled to myself thinking about how upset he was going to be to learn that we managed to get ahead of this situation, intercept one of his shipments, while we started unraveling every bit of his empire.

I’d been waiting for a chance like this for such a long time, and even though I wasn’t out there pulling the trigger myself, I still felt rather happy to see it all go down. I know how insane Edik was going to get, probably taking out his anger on his men when he learned that we’d managed to get this done. It was only the first step in taking back everything that I’d lost, and giving Aleksandr the ability to run his criminal empire the way he saw fit. I stared at them out there, working together, and I started to realize that we all made a very good team. It was almost as if Jack and Aleksandr were developing a sort of friendship, something that Jack never would’ve had if he ended up working with Edik. I knew how Edik treated the people closest to him, and no matter how hospitable he tried to be, it never came off as a genuine gesture.

He would usually put me in the role of entertainer, making sure that all of his guests had everything they could possibly need and more, so that they would want to do business with him. It was a smart move on his part, and if I would’ve known then what I knew now about my capabilities, I probably would’ve left a long time ago. Aleksandr had opened up my eyes to a lot of different parts of myself, unearthing a new wave of bravery in me that was going to stick around for a very long time. I truly couldn’t wait to see where all of this was going to take us next, but I still worried that I was going to end up at the bottom of a ditch somewhere, killed and disposed of by Edik, No matter how strong Aleksandr and Jack appeared to be, I still had a bad feeling coursing through me that our efforts weren’t going to be enough to take Edik and all of his allies down. Surely, he’d been trying to get involved with the kind of people that would make taking him down very difficult. It was people like Kliment that I was afraid of the most, because men like him were highly trained operatives, getting off on completing yet another job.

That was all we were to them, jobs. We didn’t exist as human beings in their minds, and they shut off their humanity a long time ago to be able to kill like that. While Aleksandr and Jack had all taken lives in the past, even as I had, we still held onto our humanity as much as possible. Once that was gone, there wouldn’t be much left to live for. There was only so much that we could deal with, and every move was fueled by our will to make it out of this so we could go on to have seemingly normal lives.

I knew that Aleksandr wanted to start a family, to have something to look forward to even as he ran his criminal empire. He gave me hope that I wasn’t going to waste the rest of my life chasing empty dreams. I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life, and that was something I was sure of. He changed everything about me, making me a much better woman every single day.

  Chapter Thirteen: Aleksandr

Things are finally starting to align. I’m a lot less worried that we’re going to have a hard time making it out of this alive now that we’ve started to retaliate. I love watching Edik’s product go up in flames, his men surrendering under me, and I can already see it in their eyes that they’re thinking about switching sides. We left the scene before the rest of Edik’s army could show up, and it felt good having things falling into place, but I knew that feeling wasn’t going to last forever. We headed back to the motel, where Jack and I had to part ways, while I took Irina back to safety for a while so we could move into the next phase.

I sat on the edge of the motel room bed with Irina by my side. Jack started going through all of his current contracts, looking for the ones that overlapped with the case Edik had him complete. I was grateful that I got to Jack when I did because he was probably the only one who would be able to deal with Kliment and come out victorious. Jack had a skillset that even I didn’t know much about, and I was shocked to learn how much time he’d spent as an operative. It was like I struck gold going after a man like that and not even knowing for myself just how useful he was going to be. I could tell that there was a friendship beginning to form between Jack and I. I made sure to promise myself to reward him for all of his troubles, once we had a moment to breathe again.

I heard my cell phone start to buzz while Jack was having a glass of cheap alcohol, offering one to Irina, while he flipped through his contracts. I hesitated before I answered because I really didn’t recognize the number, but I already didn’t have a good feeling about what was waiting for me on the
other end of the line.

  “Hello?”

“Boss, I need you to get down here right away. A fight broke out at the warehouse and everything is on fire! It’s Edik! Please, boss,” screamed one of my guards, and I could hear the commotion going on in the background.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can. Hang tight, and whatever you do, do not let them destroy my product. This is a retaliation,” I explained, hanging up the phone, running to kiss Irina on the forehead to bid her goodbye for a little while, because I had to deal with this on my own.

“I need to go down to the warehouse and deal with this. I can’t let all my hard work go up in flames,” I said to them both, nodding at Jack to let him know it was his time to step up.

“What happened to keeping me close, Aleksandr? I can’t let you go by yourself,” she said, trying to tug on my heartstrings, but I couldn’t bring her because I was afraid that Edik might be present. We weren’t ready for confrontation yet.

“This is my call to make, Irina. I know you’re not going to like it, but I’ll have a better chance of slipping in and out of there unnoticed if you’re not with me. I promise that I’ll be careful, and I will come back to you. Jack is going to watch over you,” I said, trusting Jack more than I should, but I had no choice.

Things were going to get much worse if Edik and Irina got in a room alone right now, because I knew Edik was going to do everything in his power to claim her if he ever got me on the ground, helpless. I refused to let that happen.

“Please, Aleksandr. Let me come with you,” she said, tears welling up in her eyes, but I had to let her go for now.

“It’s going to be a shit show if you go, Irina. They’re going to shift all of their focus on you, and I can’t protect you alone, even with Jack’s help. I need to do this for all of us, okay? Let me protect my business, let me protect you,” I said to her, trying to reassure her that everything was going to be fine.

“What if something happens to you, Aleksandr? What if something happens to me when you’re gone?” she asked, trying to play to my weaknesses, but it wasn’t going to work this time.

“I’ve taught you a great deal about how to protect yourself, and you are much stronger now than the last time you asked me that question. I trust you, and for some reason, I trust that fucker over there. You’re going to be okay. We’re all going to be okay,” I said, pressing my forehead into hers, while I pointed at Jack to chime in.

“Everything is going to be okay, Irina. I will be here to look after you, and your man is quite a capable one. He’s going to be able to shoot his way through, and make it back to you before you even realize that he’s gone. Trust him,” said Jack, and I knew she felt powerless in this moment, but it was the best I could do right now.

“Okay,” she said, pressing her lips onto me, kissing me hard even though I could tell how disappointed and scared she truly was.

I made sure I had everything I needed, each and every one of my weapons ready to be used, and I got into my car, pulling out of the motel parking lot, heading back into the city. I could see the sun begin to set, as I wound down the windows to get a bit of fresh air, trying to calm my nerves. It broke my heart having to leave her behind, and I knew that I was taking a rather big chance leaving her in the company of someone who almost wound up working for Edik, but I was trusting my gut. Jack truly seemed like a good guy, unlike my ex-head of security, Damir. I couldn’t wait to put a bullet in that fucker’s head. I was tired of trying to play it safe where this was all concerned. I just wanted it to be over and done with, I just wanted Edik to pay for everything he’d put us all through.

When I arrived at the scene, my entire building was in shambles. There were dead men littered all around the property, and I knew that once the police caught wind of what happened here, I was going to have to move my entire operation, but right now that was the least of my worries. I cocked my gun back, holding it close as I burst in through the double doors, shooting my way through the men I didn’t recognize. Gunfire rang high in the thick air, leaving me feeling sick to my stomach, but I had to stay focused. I had to find the people that were closest to Edik, the people that made a difference in his business practices, and make sure they weren’t going to show up for work the next day.

I have to get ahead of this thing before Edik does something drastic that leaves us all in the dust, I thought to myself, trying to make out any of the faces, seeing if I recognized anyone. Just before I could turn my attention to what was happening at the back of the warehouse, I noticed that there was someone moving upstairs. I ran up the iron steps, trying to get up there as fast as I could, but the man was quick. When I finally caught sight of his face, I realized that it was Kliment, and he was the kind of man that shot and never missed. I avoided his gunfire for as long as I could, but he was good. It was taking too much focus away from chasing him down to duck all of his shots, but I eventually regained the upper hand. Anger was coursing through me, filling my body with adrenaline, and I couldn’t think about anything else besides Irina. I hated that all of this had to happen because she just wanted a better life. It didn’t make any sense to me, but now wasn’t the time to debate the possibilities.

I shot at Kliment, nipping him in the shoulder, watching him wince slightly before regaining his footing, and returning that fire.

“Give up, Volkov. You’re not going to win this fight,” he shouted, but I didn’t even bother to answer him. I closed one eye, steadying my aim, as I shot straight through the right side of his chest, watching as he fell to his knees. I finally had the opportunity to catch up to him, towering over him as the blood trickled out of him, and it felt good to finally be a step closer to triumph. I knew it was going to be a short-lived feeling, because my entire business was crumbling beneath my feet, and I was kicking myself for not moving my product sooner.

“Where the fuck is Edik?” I asked, digging the heel of my shoe into his bullet wound.

“Fuck! God Dammit, Volkov. I’m not going to tell you. You should just kill me now, because I’m not going to give him to you,” he said, spitting in my face, as I bent down to meet his eyes.

I dug my opposite hand into his wounds, ripping into it further, as he tried to get me to stop, but I wasn’t going to do that.

“I’m not here to fuck around, Kliment. You’re going to tell me where he is, and what he’s up to, before I take you back with me, to drop you in a shallow grave somewhere so you can die slowly and painfully,” I warned.

“You really are in over your head, Volkov. It’s such a shame, because you would’ve been a very valuable asset to the team. It’s a shame that you got involved with Edik’s girl, that you just had to overstep,” he croaked.

“You have no idea what you’re talking about, Kliment.”

“That girl was really special to him once, but that was before he saw a golden opportunity hiding under her name that she didn’t even know about. She’s much more valuable than you think she is, Volkov. This isn’t about a broken heart, but you’ve probably realized that by now. I’m afraid that it’s coming up to the end of the line for you. You really should just quit while you’re ahead, because Edik has the kind of people on his payroll that would make you run,” he said.

“I’m not going to do that,” I told him, placing the barrel of my gun directly over his wound.

“Well, I will,” said a voice from behind me, right before I felt a sharp pain hit the back of my skull. Everything went black, and I could’ve sworn that I heard Edik’s voice behind me, but I thought that maybe it was just a figment of my imagination.

I awoke what felt like days later, nursing the pain in my head, as my eyes fluttered open to awful fluorescent lighting, like I was situated in an old hospital bed. I had no idea what was going on or where I was, but I could already tell that I was in trouble. I tried to clear my eyes, staring down at my feet, to see that I was indeed in a medical bed, with both my hands and legs tied up. They were strong bindings, and I wasn’t getting out
of them very easily.

“Great, you’re awake. It’s about time you came to,” said a voice that I couldn’t help but recognize.

  “Edik,” I croaked.

“In the flesh. You know, I really did think that the contract was going to go down without a hitch, but you’ve taken the time to not only try to uproot my entire business, but also steal my woman while you were at it. Where are your manners, Volkov?”

“Why do you even care so much, Edik? You don’t love her, and I’m pretty sure that you never did. So, why even bother to put everyone through this?” I asked, even though I knew I wasn’t going to get a straight answer right now.

“That girl is sitting on something that I feel belongs to me, and once I get it back, I don’t care what happens to her. I do want to put her through a little hell for disobeying my orders, killing the man I sent her to seduce, and running off with some of my money,” he said, and everything about him absolutely disgusted me.

“You’re not going to find her, Ostrovsky. She’s in the wind. I made sure of that,” I said to him.

“I know that you’ve fallen in love with her, Aleksandr, and that really is such a shame, but I’m afraid that you’re not going to have the chance to see her again. My men will find her, and when they do, they’re going to make sure to do whatever they please with her, until I’m ready to unravel her myself.”

“You’re not going to get away with this, Edik.”

“I’m afraid I already have, Aleksandr. I really wished you would’ve just played by the rules. We could’ve been running this empire together, and instead you’re here, about to be injected with the kind of drugs that are going to make you go mad, and there’s absolutely nothing that you can do about it. How does it feel to be powerless now?” he asked, and I couldn’t believe that I allowed myself to be put in such a position.

“Do your fucking worst,” I challenged him, watching as he smirked back at me, leaving the room to call in his band of doctors. I didn’t care what he was trying to pull, but I knew that I was going to find a way out of this mess and get back to Irina. I had no choice, I had to see her again, I had to get back to her to let her know that I was going to be okay. Though, I couldn’t be entirely optimistic, because as it stood right then, my entire life was flashing before my eyes. I worried that in all the time I spent in here, Edik was out there, calling on all of his allies to track her and Jack down.
