Meeting His Match Page 23

by Tia Souders

Once Logan finished his email, he tucked his phone back in his pocket, while Marti pressed her lips together, lest she say anything incriminating like, Have any questions to ask me? Planning to take me off the market any time soon? Been to Tiffany’s lately?

Logan narrowed his eyes on her, and she shifted her gaze away. He was like a human lie detector and he’d figure her out in an instant. Taking a healthy sip of her wine, she avoided eye contact when a knock came on the door. Saved by the bell!

She jumped toward the sound, more than eager for the interruption. “That’s probably them. I’ll get it.” She scurried off and flung open the door.

Mel and Caroline spilled into Logan’s apartment. “Hurry,” Caroline said, as she pulled Marti in for a hug, “get Mel a glass of wine. Actually, scratch that, make it the whole bottle.”

Marti grinned and glanced over at Mel, who wore a slightly dazed expression. Her forehead creased as she glanced over at Marti, offering her a half-hearted greeting. “Yo.”

Next to her, Logan appeared with a huge glass of Pinot for both of her friends.

Caroline accepted hers with enthusiasm, giving Logan the once-over in appreciation. “You’re the perfect man. Do you have any brothers? Maybe a twin, perhaps?” And as her friends prattled on, fawning over him, Marti glanced up at him and couldn’t help but feel like the luckiest woman in the world.

His full lips curved into a wide smile, and his forest green eyes glittered as he laughed at something they said. Warmth pooled low in her belly. Her heart pounded a rhythmic beat, and as if he sensed her thoughts, the depth of her emotion in that moment, he reached out clasping her hand in his, and the only thing running through her head was the thought was, I can’t wait to officially make him mine.
