“I’ll keep my mouth shut,” he agreed. “You’ll be the one to let everyone know, whenever you’re ready.” He pulled me out of my chair and kissed and hugged me. “I love you Emily Mills with all my heart. You and Ava are my favorite two girls in the whole world. But I guarantee you that I’ll find enough love for this little one.” He held his hand to my stomach.
Bound against his chest, I savored the feeling of contentment he gave to me. “I love you Gregory Mills and, I promise you, I will never doubt your love for me again.”
Acknowledgement
I would like to thank all of the wonderful friends and relatives who indulged me going on and on about my book (if you’re groaning right now, then you’re one of the ones). I’d especially like to thank Sabrina Baker, my good friend since second grade. She was kind enough to read this book and give me her opinions ... though I'm sure she probably held back for the sake of risking our friendship. Another big thank you is extended to Mike LaChance who redesigned the cover. I am very appreciative of his great talent. And, of course, I’d like to thank my wonderful husband who has not only been helpful and supportive, but a wealth of encouragement. Finally, my biggest thank you goes to everyone who has taken the time to read The Hotel. Your support is greatly appreciated.
About The Author
Melanie Jones-Brownrigg
The Hotel is my publishing debut into the world of writing. Since 1987, I have worked as a legal assistant for my husband, a probate lawyer, in Fort Worth, Texas. While I’m proficient in “heretofore”, “thence”, and “verbatim hereinafter”, I have never had a professional class in literary writing, and my last classes in basic principles of writing, crafting sentences, grammar and spelling were several decades ago in high school. It boggled my mind at how many words I had to look up in the dictionary to see if they were spelled correctly. It’s fascinating how many words are one word versus two words – bedroom, living room, back room, bathroom – to name a few. Without any professional background, it caused me to ponder my sanity at attempting this endeavor. In doing so, what I found was, it’s not as easy as it looks. While it is effortless to criticize the works of other authors, I never put into perspective just how difficult it is to put to paper the visions held in my head. My hope is that I haven’t completely blown the mark. And, perhaps with practice, my lack of skills will be honed. Hopefully you will be kind enough to forgive any obvious mistakes, which I’m sure to have made.
If you enjoyed this undertaking, please leave me a kind review. If you found it lacking, please bear with me and give me another chance as I have several other ideas brewing in my head that will hopefully progress to the publishing stage. Thank you for taking the time to read The Hotel and I hope, in the future, you will follow my upcoming works.
